This great little utility was written by the same Korean keyboard god that also developed the LIMKB keyboard controller.

The program lets you check to see if all keys on your board function properly - it can also be used to check for ghosting and/or nkey rollover support testing.

Unlike ALL other keytest applications that I have tested (including commercial ones like PassMark KeyboardTest) this one is not tricked by fake strokes and checks only the real signals sent from your keyboard. What does this mean? This means that scripts and macro programs like AutoHotKey or AutoIt which generate keystrokes using the Windows API do not get picked up. In fact I am curious to know how he tells these apart from real keystrokes - like I said before all other programs fail at this and also pick up the "fake" keystrokes.

Just so you know, Mac has one built in. It's called Keyboard Viewer and it can be selected from the top bar with a couple options in System Preferences. I'll post how to do it if anyone cares.

And if you're using Linux or other OSes with X Windows, there's xev.  It shows all UI events (key up and down, mouse move etc.) as well as key scan codes.  Could also be useful if you think the problem might not be a keyboard fault (e.g. malware): boot off an Ubuntu live CD or USB stick & check.

Great software. My Razer Lycosa doesn't even have solid 3-key rollover across the board. :(

I could be wrong, but he probably set it up as a hardware monitor that reads standard BIOS key codes in order to get unaltered key readings.

I use AKT to check full functionality on the boards I am building.  So basically start it up and hit every key on the board one at a time.  I look at the GUI and it shows me if any switches didn't fire.
