To be completely honest with you, I had no interest in this keyset whatsoever UNTIL I saw that you had mac modifiers. Insta-buy from me as I missed the ePBT 2048 GB>

Sorry for the radio silence. Life has been busy and I try to save updates for bigger news and there hasn't been a ton. A few notes on the set:

  • the set is being delayed temporarily due to a few factors (namely the China wide closures and production delays) but we are hoping for April
  • I'm waiting on updated renders that A) better reflect the color that Keyreative was able to pull off and B) taken into consideration the feedback from here
  • Speaking of kits, I've worked up international kits, added the option for 60/tkl text mods, and added an R3 skull into the 40s and ortho kits

News and updates will be provided as I have them :)

- ocm.
April is probably too opmistic then.
As more KAT sets are being IC-ed, I hope the queue wouldn't get even longer.

...A few notes on the set:
  • ... and added an R3 skull into the 40s and ortho kits

With this addition, the ortho set is perfect. A 1u R3 novelty is something a lot of sets overlook, forcing ortho users to put either ESC or TAB there. The novelty allows for CTRL or FN or whatever-you-want without jacking up the legend. The ortho set is just great.

Hiragana alphas:
Another issue I noticed is that you have the kana and representing the (han)dakuten keys (corresponding to [{, ]} keys in ANSI). However, those diacritics can be applied to several kana, not just へ, so those symbols should probably be and instead.

This is a great point. I believe the convention is to have dotted squares with the dakuten/handakuten in the upper right corner.

You're right, the dotted box is conventionally used to represent dead keys, which (han)dakuten are. Either with the dotted box or without it should be fine, the current legends are the only ones that don't work well.

Just spotted this thread, and I see konstantin has already mentioned the use of [べ] and [ぺ] rather than [゛] and [゜] or [⬚゛] and [⬚゜] (the marks should go *inside* the boxes, but I don't know how to type that here...)

Another issue is with regards the layout of the hiragana alphas.  I'd like to propose the following modifications which I have mentioned on some other kana monolegend ICs (and konstantin has been fighting the good fight as well!). These are as follows:

  • Add an R1 [ー] key, or replace R1 [ろ] or [む] with [ー]
  • Add an R3 [む] key
  • Add an R4 [ろ] key

These changes would allow you to support both ISO and JIS users on top of ANSI, and if you choose to replace R1 ろ with ー and "move" R1 む to R3, you can get away with only adding one additional key (R4 ろ).  If you still wish to support R1 ろ and む, you can do so with just a couple of extra keys.

This is a really nice, clean-looking set, so I'd love to see it succeed! The changes I've proposed will make the hiragana alphas more generally useful.

Other keys that are useful for building JIS layouts are:

  • A 2U Shift key
  • A 3U Space bar

I can't quite tell from your renders whether you have these; it looks to me like there might be a 2U shift in there, which is great -- of the two, I'd say that was the more important. The 3U space is useful if you're building a board with henkan/muhenkan buttons either side of the space bar, but it's slightly more complicated as different boards use different size space bars.  I'm planning on writing a full post about this once I've done some more research into all the options, but for now I think the best bet for JIS users who want henkan/muhenkan buttons is to build a 60% board using GH60's minila layout, which uses a 3U spacebar.

Following up on updates on this set, would text modifiers be out of the question? Specifically text arrow keys..  :-*
The option would be fantastic!

Quick question: does R1 of the 40s kit actually match up with R2 of the Alpha kit?

Follow-on: if above answer is yes, then it would be cool to have an OCM key in the 40s kit ‘cause the one in the Alpha kit is for a different row (and would have a diff profile?)

Either way, you’ve done a really nice job putting the kits together.

Questions:
I have a question: the 40's modifiers, are the rows mislabeled?
As shown in red - fixed rows in accordance with incumbent row labeling
As shown in green - fixed rows in accordance with KAT row labeling

Requests and wishes:
I really like Honeywell sets, and the color-scheme looks very close to that of Honeywell, would it be possible to request some BoW alphas to go with it, to achieve that look?
I would also like to request text-mods as the MOQ seems to be bound to keys sold rather than kits sold!

Good luck with your keycapset! I'm in!
