Hi Everyone,

TianYue Lab Discord Channel:
https://discord.gg/8vbtRzC

iLouis_07 here, recently there was one idea went through in my mind.

Something we played quite long but there are still can be improved, in short:

TYL 4mm Brass Plate

One more pic for details, everything we had considered in:

Specs:
4mm brass plate compatible with all the GH60% tray mount cases: ALF DC60, Tofu60 and etc.
CNC craft.
Polished and sandblasted, chroming(like my volcano660 plate), PVD.(See the moq and price offered by factory)
We will offer different layouts.(Personally, my designing purpose is to enhance the type feeling, so those universal plates are not the first choice)

Period:
Less then 1 month.

Shipping:
China EMS.

Price:
TBD.

Hope to hear more from you, you can leave comments below and also i will update different layout CAD here once i finished one by one.

Thank you so much

Edited: (For Alum 4mm and PC 4mm, I will try for my prototype, if good, I can count them in as well)

I can tell it based on Normal vs Gasket, but thicker plate I have no idea, that’s why I’m here. I talked with u/magicpretzel this morning and we believed that this will be a good try :)

I'd really be in on this. I'm specifically looking for split backspace and split right shift, with a 1.5, 1, 1.5, 7, 1.5, 1, 1.5 bottom row.

Top/sandwich mounts are nice, but tray mounts will always be there as a favorite for me (T60, Klippe, Raven).

I'd be in for split backspace and split right shift support. Also second the idea of black PVD if it's doable.

With that thickness, the switch won't snap on the plate, thus making it unusable. You need to carefully CNC the plate where the switch snaps in order to make it thinner in that particular position (everwhere else it can be thicker).

Is there also a notch to remove the switch top without desoldering?

It's so thick that it deserves to be exposed with a sandwitch mount. Given the thickness of the plate, do you need to stuck a membrane between the plate and the pcb?

On a comment by nubbinator, I've seed that he said that with come pcbs you need to worry about "top plate SMD stuff."  :thumb:

there's no notch to remove without desoldering. like what OP said, his aim is to enhance typing feeling with a full plate, so i guess by cutting more notches, it will stray further away from his goal.

very interested! Might get a couple even. I've been wanting to try brass plates, both for 60% and 40%. I'm using leaded solder on my current 60% project, so desoldering the switches off the current alu plate won't be so hard when/if this comes!

this will definitely be more expensive than the usual plates, as it doesn't just involve cutting, but milling.

I would most definitely get one if it supports a standard ansi bottom row of 7x 1.25u and a 6.25u spacebar.

Cutting brass is even harder than milling! You can't use traditional CO2 Assisted laser cutters due to the fact that the brass will oxidise and you won't be able to cut through it without having a horrible mess everywhere the issue is that you can't really mill anything under 4mm, since we're used to thinner plates due to MX Mounting, I can sort of presume that's why you chose a 4mm plate, since it's cheaper to do than a 1.5mm or 2mm plate  :)

I would like to see this in perhaps a 7u space, and standard ANSI.

Both of these I like to have a split right shift. Right shift takes up so much space for a key that I don't even use.. at all.
