Just received my set.
The moogle kit i'm using, the
capslock, control, alt, window, menu key is using a slightly more lighter shade of grey compared to the beige dye subbed keycaps i am using. However, comparing it against the double shot cherry corp beige set i have as well, it's a perfect color match.
I got the signature plastic pbt keychain. So using that as a color comparison, i think the color GQC would have been a more accurate color for my dye sub keys, but to be fair, this moogle kit was originally for the cherry corp double shot beige/white set, and not for the dye sub set.
I don't mind too much because my room is poorly lighted so it's not too obvious that the colors look slightly patchy because of the slight color differentiation.
For the spacebar, the color is perfectly matching the numpad keycap colors. The alphabet keycaps are greyish, so the white spacebar is noticebly different in shading with the surrounding keys for my dye sub set. But as for the double shot cherry corp set, it seems to be a good match. The spacebar is inclined compared to the cherry corp spacebar that is very flat. I think the cherry corp flat spacebar is preferably, although i don't mind this new spacebar as the incline isn't too harsh although it is noticeable. When my fingers are on stand by at the wasd keys, my thumb can feel the spacebar inclination edge, whereas the cherry corp original spacebar is flat and feels more comfortable.
The font size is slightly larger than the cherry corp ones by like 1% or less. Also the cherry corp fonts are bolded, whereas the sp ones are thinner looking. The font is not totally accurate especially for "a", "p", "t" and "r".
The sp keycaps look and have a texturized feel to it, compared to the shiny smooth cherry corp keys. It is noticeable but i don't think it's much to worry about honestly.
Just a recap why you would want a Moogle kit set.1. ctrl and alt to fit more modern keyboards. The original cherry corp beige/white is too big to fit, as they are usually sourced from vintage keyboards e.g. g80-1000 series that don't have the windows keycap
2. spacebar to fit more modern keyboard. The original cherry corp beige/white spacebar is too big, and also the stems are not matching.
3. windows, menu keys on cherry corp beige/white if you do find them, are not double shots. I was told that cherry corp used pad printing or lasered for these graphic font keys. So these SP gives you good double shot goodness where it was lacking in the original cherry corp set :}
SummaryAs a patch for the Cherry corp, i think it's a good patch despite the font and font size only being accurate to within say 90% accuracy. I give color accuracy as 99% Consesus for cherry corp double shot beige/white is 95% satisfied. Improvements that could have be done, maybe the font and also a more flat spacebar to be more resembling of the cherry corp double shot set.
The story is slightly different if you intend to use them with dye sub cherry corp keyset. The grey shading is noticeably different in good lighted conditions. I don't mind too much, but i just share what i see in case later somebody else moans why it isn't accurate. Satisfaction rating of say 75% May not be the the exact color shading of grey, but i don't hate it enough to not be using it.
Do i regret getting this ? My answer is no. So i am keeping it. But i wouldn't mind selling it if 7bit decides to make another set but more closely resembling for my dye sub set. But then again will i be willing to wait for 6-7 months before receiving it on the chance he does make a dye sub moogle beige/white kit in the future
