The keyboard isn't flat though. That's the dealbreaker for me, non-flat Korean keyboards.

Oh comon, I can't believe I'm the only one bothered by a raised keyboard. While I get that a case that is raised is a cool option for people who want raised keyboards to begin with, that forces it on everybody else. Raised keyboards don't make sense ergonomically.

Who cares about ergonomics when your keyboard is THIS cool? B)

I believe an option is to go with the clear acrylic bottom and instead of using the supplied feet, you can just purchase small bumpers(feet) to avoid the raise.

I just got my SGI keyboard in the mail to harvest the keycaps and stabs... and I got my Chicony w/ Blue Alps yesterday to harvest switches from.

I wish I didn't have to get a MX kit too. I really just want Alps!  :))

How much did you buy your blue alps board for? I can't really find one under $80.

I snagged it for $60  :p

Did you snag it from that guy selling it on Reddit? I pm'd him but someone else before me bought the blue alps board.

Yes, it was me. I was hawking for a Blue Alps board for ages and then I see that ad like it was destiny so I jump on it no hesitation.

Well congrats on the buy! I was hesitating since I already have an orange alps donor board sitting around, but that was a good deal for blue alps.

Orion because amazing design, TX because of affordability and sleekness, and mira because of US custom and cool design. Not to mention then the price of switches, springs, stickers, lubes, and clear switch tops if those are your things.

I already have enough parts for 2 customs =]

The TX1800 is already the first of the 2. Just have to decide on what board I want to put the remainder in!

I haven't been told the price yet, but most likely between $200-$400 depending on the bottom you choose.

is there any chance that the the PCB + plate for Orion V2 would fit the V1? And how the RGB LEDs work? Can you pick a color manually or it just goes through all the colors automatically?

This is probably here nor there, but having both plates with and without top removal, I can say that a plate without the openings delivers a better typing feel.

Hmmm... I see  :) Thanks for the info.
What are you opinions on the plastic plate vs the aluminum plate? I'm thinking about installing gateron blacks on this keyboard when I do get it, do you think I should go with the plastic plate or the aluminum plate? I imagine that since the bottoming out is more prominent when using a linear switch, a plastic plate would greatly help reduce the bottoming out force, but then the stainless steel and the aluminum plate have a stronger base thus able to carry out the resonance and you can dampen that by doing the drawer liner mod.... I think...?
This is all speculations, if someone more knowledgeable can answer my questions and concerns, that would be greatly appreciated.  :D

Correct, the plastic plate would definitely dampen the sound and have lower resonance as I've seen with my crystal gon. I'm not too well-versed in liner mods though, so I will let someone else speak to that.

I am going for the softest options with the orion (at least I think it makes for the softest typing feel). 60g gateron blacks, plastic plate and flat acryllic bottom. Hope it turns out well. If the price is right maybe I'm gonna get a SS or alu plate just in case.

As for the shelf liner... I have foam in my Viper which was used to secure it during shipping. I am going to remove it tomorrow and come back to you. I only have blacks in the modifiers though, so it may not be the most accurate result.
