I think an energy bar has about 500-1000 calories. That's why you feel so tired

They have not improved in flavor or texture at all over the decades they've been around, still just as horrible and tedious to stuff down your throat. My body actively rejects them whenever I try to swallow a bite. Throat closes up, tries to push the chunk out because my body doesn't believe it to be edible food.
What's really odd to me is even with 100% natural and delicious ingredients, when mushed into bar form becomes inedible poison. It's very weird.

1. Energy bars are extremely dense, so it's basically a big lump sitting in your GI tract, causing an unpleasant feeling.
2. Your diet may have selected for certain gut flora and allowed others to die off, so you're having a hard time processing a novel food. Taking probiotics a week leading up to eating an energy bar may help.

I'm not a doctor, or a scientist, or a real human being, so don't listen to me for medical advice.

I eat healthy these days! Lot's of salads and Mediterranean foods. Occasional burger or pizza, like once a week.
