Found some old mechanical keyboards today!
« on: Thu, 19 July 2012, 17:28:38 »
Hello found some old mechanical keyboards today at work that was going to be trash. Once I saw they had mechanical switches I took them all :)
I hope this is okey but I would like to know how much these keyboards are worth.

I found:

- 5x Compaq mx11800 (Cherry mx brown)

- One Dell AT102W never used before and still in plastic (Alps black)

- One Compaq RT101 (Cherry mx green switches?)

All of the keyboard looks like new and I didn't even had to clean them.

Better picture of Compaq RT101. I have no ide what kind of switches this keyboard has

:S Posted in the wrong thread should be in keyboard I guess, sorry. Can mod move this later please?
I dunno: Looks like a "great find" to me.

Given the light use, I'd say some of these are worth selling (Or keeping and using). I have read that the dell ALPS keyboards are much better NIB, so that might sell well.

Can you get a better picture of that green switch'd compaq? I'm very interested in what the switches look like.

The Compaq keyboard has rubber domes. It is most likely a NMB RT6856T. Read more.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Good find, those Compaq mx11800 usually sell for around 30-50 shipped depending on condition. I'd reccomend keeping one or two good quality boards for yourself.

For the Compaq RT101, was there a seperate white stem between the keycaps and rubber dome? These look simular to a dell quietkey, which are fair for rubber dome boards. Not much value in these boards, but a decent layout, and very cool color for the rubber domes.

That black dell, isn't that a Dell AT101W? Black alps are somewhat common, but I'd be very interested in trying some new black alps. Let me know if you ever end up parting with this board.

Wait a minute... Those keyboards have Swedish layout. I have been looking for Swedish Cherry MX keys for a while. You've got PM!

I'd be interested in those Compaqs if you are looking to sell.

Denkan is not interested in selling me just the keys for one of these keyboards. If someone buys one of these keyboards and does not want the Swedish keys, please let me know and we can work something out.

Those Compaqs with integrated touchpads or trackballs are worth a fortune when new.
