Do you have any plans to make a 96layout case? Perhaps one similar to TX CP

I second that.  A "Simple" 96layout in gunmetal grey, would be an immediate buy from me.

Probably 2 of them.   :thumb:

I think I've said it everywhere, but this case is so cool. Love the simple look!  :thumb:

Trying to make it available soon, regardless of the progress of the other cases at the moment.

would adding 2 additional screws in the center of the long sides give it additional support or make a difference? I heard the main problem with top-mounted plates is the "pinging"?
Regardless I am still very excited to see this one happen!

I don't think that it would matter in this case, as the plate is fully supported on all sides. What could be done is to add a thin rubber gasket all around that would kill even the miniscule vibrations. Or just use a thick wooden plate for superior acoustics and feel.  ;)

Pardon the question if it's dumb, but would the HHKB layout blockers exist for the top-mounted/pro version only?

It would make sense for him to run the 2 FJELLs together, maybe the simple case could be ran separately

In some ways it makes sense. But I would probably buy more than 1 of both fjell if they didn't run at once... harder to do if they run together. I doubt I'm alone lol. Or people who want both but can only do one at a time. Even just confirming there will be R3 would work for some people I'd imagine.

Remember that it might still be a limited GB and buying more than one might not be an option.

Has it been discussed if there will be that many colors this time around and if Elv case will get same amount of color options too?

Hello!

Some updates.
I have gotten a ton of emails and requests regarding the FJELL Group Buy, from you here and even other vendors. As of now, I can't handle enough orders to please everyone.
If I can find a vendor that is able to handle FJELL orders, I will be able to go that route. I will make sure it is safe for every participant. Manufacturing will go through my factory anyway. Everything will still be LeandreN style with Mekanisk branding, but it would allow me to have better fulfillment for more cases. This might change later, as Mekanisk grows.

Also, the simple case is ready for mass production very soon.

Any thoughts or concerns? Please let me know.

very nice, sir.  I'll take 2 simple cases and 2 Fjell when they are ready :)

One request for you... can you put a standard 60% PCB and plate in it?  I want to see the gap between the edges of the plate and the case.  The one popular case on ebay/alliexpress right now is very nice, but it has a lot of extra space once you put a board in it.  I'm hoping yours will be a tighter fit

Awesome to hear these updates.

If I can find a vendor that is able to handle FJELL orders, I will be able to go that route.

Is the idea that, to start, the future vendor would run the FJELL orders as a group buy as well, or instead seek to do a run of some cases and then put those up for purchase like a regular item (and rinse/repeat)? Just curious.

Also, congrats LeandreN on the success and growing popularity of your work -- well-deserved, as your cases look great (and from the obsessive reading I've done of comments from folks that received their FJELL cases, everyone is very pleased with the results).

I see a lot of people putting material in the bottom of metal cases to dampen the sound, but that doesn't actually do much.  What really changes the sound and feel is where the PCB meets the mounts.

I've always though about trying to source some different disc-like materials to go atop of the M2 screw posts to dampen the harshness of the metal case.  I was thinking a dense foam or medium density rubber, but I would want to experiment to see what sounds the best.

Have you ever tried anything like this?  If you could include them as a customization option (like people sometimes do with rubber feet), that would be awesome.

Fjell is still the top case out there in my opinion.

P.S.
I'd really like to see more acrylic or polycarb plates on the market.  I see that you are selling off some extras that you had.  Any chance that you'll be getting more in the future?  As you may be able to tell by now, I'm all about the feel of the board.  It makes me think twice when I switch from a nice custom with alum case back to an old quickfire rapid and realize the quickfire rapid actually feels nicer to type on :(

Actually, putting foam dampers into the bottom of the case will absolutely change the sound signature, assuming the foam layer is thick enough to touch the pcb. And even if it doesn't, it will make a difference if you're doing this modification on a lightweight plastic case which will reduce reverberations and resonation within the empty cavity

I agree with all of this.  However, I'm looking for a better "feeling" experience, so I'm less concerned with the sound than I am the feel of the board.  Dampening the case doesn't change the harshness of the vibrations you feel when you type, at least not that i could tell.  I've tried with 3 different aluminum cases now, and nothing seems to work without addressing the points of contact between the PCB and the chassis.

It was just a suggestion for a simple extra that might be awesome if it could be done on the cheap. I figured he would have access to materials and manufacturers that could make an oddball part an easy find.

First priority now is making the Klippe case available. I might also run a GB myself for them.

My next will be to collaborate with a vendor on the Fjell classic and the Fjell pro.

1upkeyboards.com will stock them at the MSRP $179 in some weeks. These will probably sell out fast. I will then look into starting a group buy for them.

The design is very complicated, so I need to make sure everything is okay before I start production. I need to revise the files more.

First priority now is making the Klippe case available. I might also run a GB myself for them.

My next will be to collaborate with a vendor on the Fjell classic and the Fjell pro.
We the klippe case the "basic" and if so is there an estimated gb date? I don't want to buy the revo one if yours is coming out soon

1upkeyboards.com will stock them at the MSRP $179 in some weeks. These will probably sell out fast. I will then look into starting a group buy for them.

Anything for us in Europe ? I mean, you're from Europe yourself, do you know that hassle it is to import something from.the states and pay import fees :-/

That is the main reason I plan on running it myself afterwards.

perfect! Do you know if this will be a limited run GB (like X spot available) or just a normal GB?

Thanks a lot for your outstanding work!

These will be stocked and ran a lot to make them available. I don't think the GB will have to be limited.

Just saw the revo one on massdrop.  Despite the finish, wouldn't you say the two cases are very similar?  Any idea which one is thicker? I love thick side bezels
