We have not had a good GB with coffee-colored keys as far as I've seen and I think it'd go well with the offwhite Filco. I vote cream on coffee

Now that I look at the ABS colors, I see WBO and WCK very well with TBN, but the most retro effect would be with pure white I believe (WA)

samwisekoi, can you confirm that ABS color ring doesn't have TBN?

I also think they would look great on a Gray QFR.

Or on a big-ass XT chassis.

I don't know if this helps, but I asked Nokcha what colors KeyPop used for their Coffee edition keycap and she had this to say

TGH/TEA hope that helps :D

She also said earlier in the thread that they should be available in 1-2 weeks, which could also provide us with a sample since I'm going to buy one the instant they are available.  :p

I know it's not the same profile, but it should at least provide proper color samples.

it's very nice but if we really want a C64 style, that brown gotta be darker :)

Updated colors preference:

Code: [Select]
#1 Cream on Coffee    13
#2 White on Blue      8
#3 Coffee on Cream    6
#4 White on Pebble    2

I admit that white on blue would have been easier on the eye :) But Cream on Coffee is also good, original and very elegant. I believe we are pretty much settled on that.

The "cream" would be actually very light. Something like this:

or this:

I'm trying more combos, hope someone with a color ring could help me.

To the base color I'm also going to add one full set of mods in a second color. They will be all in a 4th set.

The color combos together with the base brown are shown below. The legends will be for both white (or cream). They all look FANTASTIC! Very hard to choose.

Coffee and Mustard (ouch!)

Coffee and Plum

Best C64 match

Coffee and Mint

Coffee and Smurfs

I'm trying more combos, hope someone with a color ring could help me.

After I asked about the colors I don't have, Melissa told me that color rings are not standard or always complete; they contain various colors "...depending on what is in stock ".

She is going to send me TEA and TBN, but I see I also am missing YW, RBC, and TGG as well.

Apparently having a color ring is not enough to help. <sigh>

this is very unfortunate. Anyway I believe we are close to the final version. I hope to start the group buy by the end of the week. Can you sort out the issues you mentioned about receiving paypal payments?

Okay guys, this might be it. The best set you've ever had :)

Standard TKL Cream on Coffee

Mods in Coffee

C64 first release kit, white on mustard

Elegance kit, cream on plum (because it's just too good not to make it!)

Numpad kit

Ergodox kit, I placed this alone because it's 32 darn keys just for that

Every time I come here it's looking better and better.  Especially with the old Commodore Symbol (Classic), it's starting to amass an almost European Styling to this set, but how could that be?

It looks like a something you'll have in the morning to kick you off for the day and there are far fewer examples of these type of colours being made for us lot here on GH.

I hope this takes off, I think DT would love it as well because there are actual fan-boys there for this type of styling and I don't blame them at all for loving this type of key-set.

legends are not final yet. they will be either all text or all symbols. depends if we want a more retro or more modern style.

I take this as a compliment :)

Very nice!

I'd like to make a request that might make ordering hard, but since this is an IC thread, might give better info about INTEREST.

Could we break out the blanks and relegendables to gather interest individually?

i.e. How many of each of these are you interested in?

1x blank coffee
1.25x blank coffee
1.5x blank coffee
2x blank coffee

1x blank plum
1.25x blank plum
1.5x blank plum
2x blank plum

1x relegendable, coffee
1.25x relegendable, coffee
1.5x relegendable, coffee
2x relegendable, coffee

1x relegendable, plum
1.25x relegendable, plum
1.5x relegendable, plum
2x relegendable, plum

We don't have to (shouldn't) offer all of those individually in the GB thread, but it would be good to understand how many people are interested in which blanks and relegendables.  So if everyone wants a pair of 1x blanks in coffee we can just include them in the base kit.

Also, as someone who worked for a Commodore competitor back in the day, some form of non-logo Win key would be nice to have.

Thanks for pulling this together!

that would be great. I would also prefer the nipples but "experts" say that deep dish is the default for this kind of keys. The nipple is normally used just for the numpad... who am I to contradict the experts?

I like the plum mods much more than coffee on cream for this set..don't know why, must be the caps in the first post. And that lovely like green enter breaking it all up, delicious.

I'm trying to.

I'd like to see a brown-to-blue interest rating based on these choices:

1) I would certainly buy brown. Period.
2) I would buy brown but not blue.

3) I would buy brown, and maybe blue.
4) I would buy either one.
5) I would buy blue, and maybe brown.
6) I would buy blue but not brown.
7) I would certainly buy blue. Period.

I am feeling #6 and being a #5.  Baldguy?

I like keyboards and case modding.  Everything about a computer should be silent -- except the KEYBOARD!

BTW, I can setup a poll through WuFoo, or similar if you'd think that would help.
