I'm going to wait a little longer. There are too many GBs going on at PMK right now.  I do want to move forward with it though.  I was also hoping someone might help with some custom legends for the set, but haven't gotten any ideas or help.

Okay,  makes sense.

If I knew how to help you with the legends I would.  Hopefully someone will come forward.

Ooh, all of these look excellent. Would definitely be interested in some DSAs.

Do you think windowed caps & scroll locks would be a possibility?

I really like the Apollo and Underwood colorways. Since I only recently started getting more into keycap sets, I'm glad I found this IC before a GB started. Can't wait to see the GB!

Very interested in the Triumph De Jur Perfekt set, regardless of profile (though SA would be awesome!). These look amazing Nubbinator!

Quite keen on:
1. Princess 300
2. Smith Corona
3. Royal Apollo GT
4. Underwood Universal

Understand that colour matching may mean Apollo GT gets up first in DSA, and am in for a set of those.

If the lighter sets (Princess & Smith Corona) have a chance of happening, they'd be great!
Model M Industrial, SSK, Unicomp 104, Code TKL MX Green, FC660M MX Green + Clear + White + Grey, FC660C Topre 45g, MagicForce 68 USB and Bluetooth, Whitefox, some optical switch 65% Bluetooth split spacebar thing ... wait, I think I need an intervention. Too late, there’s a couple of new Model Fs on the way.
Too much SA is never enough.

Excited to see an apollo come to light.

Forgot to ask, or couldn't find if we were thinking PBT or ABS with this production? Obviously, PBT would be awesome as it would hopefully allow the key set to last as long as the typewriters these were based on. Maybe if I were better at colour codes, I could interpret what material it was.

Submitted the Royal Apollo GT 10 set for approval on PMK, so we'll see how long it takes to get it up and running and if I have to adjust anything.  Hopefully I didn't forget anything in any of the sets.

These are what I submitted.  Note, legend size is off a little and I'm not sure the laurel will be able to be cut, but we'll see.

Base set:

60% Stripe:

Tenkeyless stripe

Numpad

Tsangan

I decided to go with stripes in the hope that it ends up making things cheaper and lets you buy the sets you want.  I deliberated on the Tsangan, but the more I looked at it, the harder time I had including it in the base set since it basically made the base a full 60% set in numbers of keys in it.

And so you remember the colors and the inspiration:

Very cool Nubbs.  I like the font like that.  I hope it can be done that way on DSA.

I'll definitely get the parts for a tkl keyboard.
A couple requests though:
Will Win8 keycaps be possible?
What about a stepped caps lock?

Anyways, this is awesome! Thanks!

I was planning on sticking with the older winkey.  It's a DSA set, I don't think there's such a thing as a DSA stepped caps.

DSA.  I felt that DSA works best with the concept of this set.  I hate SA and DCS just doesn't fit the "vintage" concept.

God I pray this set doesn't come with the win8 logo.

Dubbs  Nubbs mentioned a while back that he will probably go with DSA to fit the more retro look.

Thats a nice yellow.
Couple questions I would like to ask;

1) The legends, they will be noticeably larger than whats on the mockup as you mentioned

2) Are the location of the legends representative of the product? top left corner for both alphas and modifiers?

3) Meaning that we are not going for large centred text as in the original type writer that this is inspired by?

4) what sort of MOQs can we reasonably target? obviously larger MOQs mean lower starting prices,  but larger MOQs increase risk of failure. Seems that GBs right now are very tricky to realise, and even a poll indicating commitment does not convert into real purchases. I know this is not something that is as simple as simply throwing out a number. Hindsight helps..  :)

And finally, I do agree on holding back on the GBs for a little while, the over saturation of failing GBs is not a good case for bringing your one up right now. As much as I would like to have a set right away.

I thought that as well since he provided a pic showing a Royal Apollo GT with it's keys showing clearly super LARGE graphics on the keys (that look more like SA than DSA, just saying).

I think what he has done now was to make the current 'key-set' into a Korean Style (nothing wrong with that) with super tiny legends throughout.

Would like to know why he went this way instead of sticking with the true typewriter style that he seemed so originally, transfixed with  :-[ ?

It could be that the mockup he used was not aimed to demonstrate legends, but only the colour? Heres hoping.

Legends will be Cherry legends.  I asked in the poll what people wanted and it was split between Cherry legends and large and centered with Cherry legends eking out a small lead, so I went with that.

MOQ is set at 25, how many people will buy the set is not something I can predict.

If it looks RIGHT then people will come  :thumb: .  The colour is nice hence don't worry about it, just concentrate on the Legend Placement upon each key surface.

Alright, finally heard back from SP.  It appears that the issue right now is the custom legend, something I'm not entirely able to do on my own.  Here are the guidelines for a custom legend.  If anyone could help, that would be huge.  It looks like the laurels won't happen, so I'm looking at a lyre or one of the vintage Royal Typewriter logos.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help with an SVG vector image of one or both of the above.

I saw in the OP that you were looking for someone to put up some renders for you. If nobody has done it already, I can give that a go.

The files seem to be unavailable though, if someone can point me in the right direction for them I'll see what I can do.

Did the Royal Logo. I based the dimensions on the actual logo instead of your image. Hope you don't mind.

Fore the lyre, you're going to need someone more skilled than me.

Did the Royal Logo. I based the dimensions on the actual logo instead of your image. Hope you don't mind.

Fore the lyre, you're going to need someone more skilled than me.

As long as it's the right size for the cap, I'm happy.  They should be able to scale it themselves, but it sounds like they won't.   If it pans out, your numpad or tsangan is on me.

Here's the lyre.  All lines meet min spacing as I understand it.  Legend should fit nicely on any profile.  There is a layer with a 1" legend, and a layer with key top outlines.  Let me know if any adjustments should be made.

Uh, could you take a look at mine? I didn't really think about sizing and line thicknesses.

You're golden.  It comes up on mine as being 4" by 4", but I don't think it's a problem... but I don't know about SP since it sounds like they want dimensions.  I'm somewhat unsure on that end.

Yeah, I don't get why they want the vector to be the exact dimension when vectors are scalable.  They should ask about height or percentage of cap face.

Since these are vintage-style sets, I think they would look better in DSA or SA rather than DCS.

Definitely love the color schemes though!

Got the e-mail from Melissa that this should go live next Monday.  I'll try to get a little sig banner made up to help promote it and I'll be sure to post here, DT, and Reddit when it goes live.

It's DSA, centered font and wilk have mods with the Royal logo and the lyre (one of the symbols of Apollo). Other than the mods, it will be like the last set of pics.

#SP Hype

Base Set:

Color chit:
