Simple questions, simple answers, love this idea and wish every forum had a thread like this. Here goes my noob questions. I am building a ergodox and have ordered a set of blue switches but I am not sure if I am going to love them. The ergodox is a plate mount board (although the pcb supports pcb mounted switches) so knowing nothing about disassembling and modding switches, if I plate mount them do I need to unsolder them to be able to modify the internals, say I wanted to to make my blues ergo clears, or jailhouse blues, could I do that all from on top of the plate, or would it require unsoldering the switches?
If the plate is a problem, could I just use pcb mounted switches instead and just cut out the center part of the layer that has the switch plate so I could get to it easily later? I want to be able to tweak this keyboard and am ready to solder my switches in but am hesitant now that I am to the stage where I would solder the switches on with the plate in between the switches and the pcb as I really don't want to be in a situation where I have to unsolder every damn switch if I decide I want stiffer springs on my home keys or something like that.
