Well, now KAM samples have been ordered. Maybe for another round.
Also, KAM profile fits the retro esthethic better IMO

Functional-wise I'm not liking uniform dimension and shaped profiles. However, KAM like KAT is thick and smooth, its top surface is bigger than DSA and it's taller than DSA too. This could work for me. I'll probably join for a set.

PS: run a KAT gb in parallel and become twice as productive

I'll take that in consideration, but the set will still firstly run in KAM.

Uniform is good for orthos and columnar staggered builds. I like it. :-)

Yeah, color shouldn't have been so blueish. But that's not really an issue.

The shine one those is so BEAUTIFUL!

Not a huge fan of the “progressive” shine Most GMK sets get with light use but FULL Uniform shine is gorgeous and really adds to the Vintage vibe.

Seems like others don’t feel the same

I’ll definitely be looking into KAM if this is their standard tooling though

I'm also fond of keycap gloss, and those pictures have me quite hyped for KAM - definitely the most impressively shiny PBT that I've seen.

On the other hand, I can see how it might not suit this set in particular. If you think KAT R3 would be a matte alternative (that's otherwise identical?), that seems like the way to go.

Thanks Loligagger, I hadn't noticed the difference between KAT R2 and KAM before.  This overlay shows the detail.  It's also strange that KAT row numbering is opposite common nomenclature.



Here is a comparison of a few different uniform profile possibilities.

The KAT home row profile is slightly asymmetric. I got an upside-down printed Enter key in my KAT Alpha set, and I couldn't just flip it around: the profile didn't match the other home row keys. Ended up getting a replacement cap from the vendor.

Anyway, even though it's asymmetric, it might still work as a uniform (albeit not flat) profile, as the asymmetry isn't that pronounced.

Have you tried ADA profile?  I’m curious how it feels compared to DSA and XDA.

I don’t think ADA is (Mass)Drop’s proprietary profile, and I don’t think double-shot ADA tooling exists yet.  Does anyone know for sure?

TEX ADA was on sale on kbdfans loooong before this drop sale. it was also cheaper but the drop dropped the price so it's slightly cheaper. I still would not buy it there unless the shipment is cheap.

Oh, interesting, I didn't know that.  KBDFans stuff has always been top quality in my experince.  I haven't tried the ADA profile, but just based on the pictures it looks like it's not too shiny, it's double-shot ABS, it's retro-styled, and uniform profile, which seemed like a good match.  Maybe shorter production queues too?

It seems for some for me unclear reason ppl like glossy finish, which beats the marvelous work of underlying legends. And as the laws of free market dictate the majority decides. It's a big pity as I really hoped this IC would yield my endgame keyset. This dream is fading with every new comment voting for glossy.

Exactly - this glossy finish opens a lot of interesting options for colorways that will profit from it. Wraith is not one of these. Still, i love my glossy SA Honeywell, i wouldnt mind a similar set in KAM.. and i am certain that other colorways will look really good with that finish. Also that all over dye sub process gives really good results in terms of color saturation (that blue is interesting..)

I don't understand the reason for your latently aggressive tone. What I saw in this thread was majority of votes for glossy finish. That was my reaction on those votes. What is really going to happen is solely biip's decision. I just expressed my assumptive feelings. Btw. I never said glossy is not nice, quite contradictory. But since we are here in Wraith thread  I expressed my opinion on glossy+wraith and nothing else. The same you expressed now yours.
