Liberty key board

ok so i found this Keyboard at a goodwill and i was very interested about it because it seems to have a dial up type cable instead of the normal keyboards of its time (early 1980's). so can some one tell me how this worked? i was thinking it connected to a printer and the printer was connected to the pc or something like that.
