what in the world brings a keyboard to a classroom to use with their laptop?

Someone who actually cares enough about what they type on.  Or someone with RSI and gets relief from typing on that Edox vs the laptop keyboard.  Myself I can't remember the last laptop keyboard I actually liked typing on.  The keystroke is way to short.

That. And if you (FinancialWar) click the link, you'll learn it was a conference. My ergodox was available to anyone to try it there.

I guess a little bit of STFW would suffice, but anyway... czarek's GB.

Skrillex is on GeekHack?

(Tangent) It's funny, I've actually known Sonny since he was 13. Don't talk to him much these days though (obviously).

patria o muerte!

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Arrgh! It took weeks to get people to quit posting photos of their animals instead of themselves!
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Yes I do.  Most jobs are OK with just pulling it back into a ponytail with ties in a couple places, but some jobs I have to tuck it into my hard hat.

I fail to see how the length of a mans hair affects his work ethic or his ability to preform construction type work safely if the hair is kept in a neat, tidy, and out of harms way fashion.  I worked with a guy that had a pony tail down to his belt.  But he kept it pulled up and was never a safety concern.  I have also worked in plants that won't allow any jewelry of any kind but never said a word about my hair.

I worked with a guy at a Quaker Oats plant who had a medical condition where he could not grow a single hair on his body.  They still made him wear a hair net.  The only thing they said to me was I need to be able to fit all of it in a hair net.

Depends heavily on the type of industry you're working in.

Jobs like lawyer, doctors, banker etc, basically any professional career will require a professional presentation, it's just common sense really.

I realize that but it is still very well possible to keep long hair in a professional looking matter.  Granted it is a lot more work to pull off but can still be done.  Also I don't work in any sort of professional field.  My work attire would consist of hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, 100% natural fiber fire resistant shirt, sturdy denim pants, steel toed (some plants require steel metatarsal) 8" work boots and leather gloves.  Other safety gear for certain tasks like grinding or welding.

Although I do plan on going back to school for mechanical engineering so, if I can get a job in that field I will have to do a lot more on term of personal appearance.

Not real sure yet.  I was debating on throwing in a bit of robotics/minor in EE.  The major problem there is I no nothing about programming

Most ME programs require at least 1 intro programing class around freshman sophomore. In my case I learned how to use MATLAB, which isn't really practical in terms of "real" programming (c++, Java, etc), but it helps you at least understand the logical aspects of programing so that if you want to learn more you may do so on your own. Now, tbh minors aren't super important, but one would do it for personal expansion of ones intellect. Also minors mostly come to play around Junior/Senior year so you wouldn't have to worry about it too much. So yea, if you're worried about not knowing programing, you shouldn't. You'll have time to learn it.(Thats actually the point of college  :thumb:)

Although I do plan on going back to school for mechanical engineering so, if I can get a job in that field I will have to do a lot more on term of personal appearance.

Woot, Mech E's unite! What field of Mech engineering would you be interested in btw?

The best field, aerospace :D.

You didn't have to take OChem? I had to take a stripped down version of it...but I still had to take it. Chem wasn't fun for me either :(.
