Brown keycap sets
« on: Thu, 29 March 2018, 01:07:10 »
Are there any (pref) GMK sets with dark brown mods?

Ideally with cream alphas as well but that’s not a necessity. Otherwise DSA sets with these colours might work if you can suggest me any. I have SA Chocolatier and SA Flamingo covered for SA profile.

Cheers.

The only brown GMK set I'm aware of is GMK Mint Chocolate:

That said, I really want to run this at some point:

I'm a big fan of the 2nd one, I would definitely support it.

Is that GMK?

Either way I like it a lot and would like very smart on a walnut board

Coffee set is DCS I believe, not cherry profile (hence,  not GMK)

Maybe some day there will be a nice all brown GMK set like retro.  They tried to run GMK retro on Massdrop, but it was met with underwhelming interest and did not reach MOQ.

I'm pretty sure KeyPop sources their keys from SP, since the profiles generally match. I haven't seen that set in ages though, so I doubt you'd be able to easily find it.
I proxy anything including keyboards (キーボード / 鍵盤), from both Japan (日本) and China (中國). For more information, you may visit my dedicated webpage here: https://www.keyboards.es/proxying.html

DSA Coffee House might actually run in the next few months. It failed in a previous GB, but they were thinking about trying again IIRC.
F Keys belong on the left.

Can confirm Keypop's Coffee was a DCS set. It's also the best-looking brown set I've seen and I'd love to see that colorway run as GMK (or really any Cherry profile, which would basically automatically make it better than SP DCS).

The Filco SA set is very dark brown in color:

SA Retro is a chocolatey brown color:

I really dig the filco brown.  It's a much shinier finish than other SA sets I have though and always shows a lot of oil.  I find myself wiping the keys a lot.  Still looks nice, though.

What’s DCS profile like compared to the big 3?

What’s DCS profile like compared to the big 3?

It's somewhat similar to Cherry but with a more pronounced up-angle on the bottom row, to an extent I find uncomfortable, especially on the spacebar. Caps are also very thin and cheap feeling after being used to 1.5mm thick GMK or high quality PBT caps. The one thing I like about DCS is the texture on the top of the caps, which is nice and rough.

Thanks, would love to see this run in GMK sometime as mentioned above it might even be a possibility in the near future.. Although the GMK schedule is getting pretty backed up right now
