i feel like its easier to do with my right hand for the more precise movement, where as steering is less precise and much easier so i like to do it with my left
Agreed.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

This is interesting,

Just bought new adjustable speaker stands on sale, trying them out.

Setup so a set of bookshelf tweeter is right in the middle of the tv height-wise. There's a huge difference in the imaging and perception of the sound. Everything feels really focused, even though Tp4 is just using stereo.

It feels much more cohesive than the tower set Tp4 was using before. The towers go deeper, but that's not really so useful given the subs, and it feels like they had a little less clarity because they're closer to the ground with more reflection from its own bass drivers.

Tp4 thoroughly not into constellation, bit of a let down so far.

Got a good feeling about Spaceman with Adam Sandler, will watch later.

tp, I'm also not really enjoying this one. Maybe because I was hoping for more space time and more science, than silly "earth" situations etc
Now we need to sit and wait for a week for each episode, which is not ideal too. Meh meh meh... :)

I was waiting for this one, to see Sandler in a serious movie, but then saw trailer about a guy talking to a spider... I don't like when they "over-draw" allegories like that...

Midnight in Paris, pretty decent.  It was just fun to watch, very smooth and easy, it doesn't force anything on the audience.

Yea, it's made by woody allen, we know, we know, he's bad guy.

What did you think of the politics in Dune Sintpinty, and Jessica's Reverend Mother arc in terms of the role of female choice and power behind empires.

Contagion came out in 4K. Crazy how it's 100% accurate. The 4K resolution is good, no lasers, but HDR highlights are used well to make the film moody.

Good movie.
But that was a long time ago, those actors were big already, but not nearly as big as they are now.

I know, right?! I watched it like 10 times since it was out. I was surprised that I never heard about that movie either! It went out so quietly I think.
Also, when I asked friends they never heard of it or seen it.
Serious gem in my favourite genre. Final minute when they go back to patient zero - freaking amazing scene :)

The Seeding (2023), b-movie.

Hiker is stranded by a desert cohort, approached by a lone woman.

The plot becomes quickly self-evident. It's unclear how an unstable culture could be maintained that way, but that's not really the point of the movie.

There's nothing too deep about it. Extrapolated, maybe it is to say we all live in boxes bound by capacities, neurotic or otherwise.

American Dreamer (2022).

It's got P.dinklage. The plot is rather unbelievable even if the audience really lets go. But, overall, if one's not really after reason, the film is light and watchable. Dinklage is as disarming and affable as always.

Night Shift 2023,

Very acceptable for a low budget scare. Nothing outright risky, a tidy representation of an old trope. Acting was likable and natural.

Watched Mad God last night. Visually the piece is spectacular, in it's own sticky hot morbid way. A true feast for the eyes, great stop-motion work. I cannot imaging the intricate work and duration it took to film every sequence. And I call them pieces and sequences, because that is really what the movie is, a series of scenes. It is conveying a World and a tone to you, and comes across very thin on plot. I almost felt as if I were watching a let's play of a video game, as it was just a character traveling through environments and 'solving' them.

I feel like if I saw this as a kid I'd of loved it, and the aimlessness would not have bothered me.

I wound up watching Dune 2 Sunday night, and it is living rent free in my head due to both the cinematography and visuals. Greig Fraser did an amazing job with the film, and I definitely found it to be much better/superior compared to the first film.

I saw the 1st Dune a few days ago. They did a good job with the source material, and the soundtrack was great. I still have a soft spot for the oddities in the David Lynch version, but Villeneuve had a solid vision that incorporated some of that weirdness. Much less rushed than the Lynch one, which he famously hated directing.

Check out The Arrival if you wanna see what Villeneuve  can do with a tiny budget. Great movie.

Last night I finished the "Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story" series.

It was one of the creepiest and most disturbing things I have seen. It was one of those things where I was wishing to bolt for the door on a minute-by-minute basis while at the same time I was glued to it. I will never watch it again, that is for sure.

That said, it was extremely well done and the actor was a dead ringer (no pun intended) for Dahmer. I can't know how factual or accurate it was, but it certainly made the impression of being the real deal.

I hate horror movies and such, but I might tentatively recommend it - but only to people who enjoy being thoroughly creeped out.

I have always felt really disgusted about people doing reenactments of like violent serial killers, it's just feels really unethical, like you are dramatising a real violent, traumatic event, especially when the victims families are still alive. Documentaries are much better at conveying these peoples lives without it being unethical. As long as it doesn't feel exploitative (which is a big thing, it's why I hate all those bloody true crime channels that do mukbangs and stuff)

Heart disease, easily preventable through a healthy diet of veggies + low fats, kills 700,000 people a year in the usa alone.

By far the most deviant/ evil/ scary monster is CAPITALISM/Animal agriculture.

Animal Agriculture kills 80 Billion (80,000,000,000) living beings per year.

--Just started Dahmer Netflix, as recommended by Fohat.diggums. Yea, this guy Dahmers is pretty bad.

Take solace in the fact that statistically, there're only a few hundred kraykray-dudes like this in the world.

Suppose all of them has 15 victims average, that's casualty in the thousands, relatively rare (and unpreventable), vs famine, animal agriculture, warlords, C1A/FB1, fa(ebook AI, militaries, gun control, heart disease, cancer, diabetes. (mostly preventable)

You know, the cinematography is excellent, it's a solemn subject matter, suppose we can't gripe the movie maker doing their jobs to the utmost, but, there's an odd uncomfortable dissonance watching the show, image quality/HDR super good juxtaposed against a broken story of a man.

juxtaposed against a broken story of a man.

And, for once, a fairly satisfactory ending.

edit - "satisfactory" meaning a feeling of "realness" - not that any ending could ever be "satisfactory" for all those people who lost friends and family

Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose.

It's alright, moody slow burn. Don't expect any mongoose action, that's not what the film strives at. Based on the historical curiosity of James Irving, the bored patriarch, who was supposedly behind the mythos.

The Thorn Birds.
Last time I watched it I was maybe 9 years old, back in 80s. Back then I did not fully watched, only cause my parents watched it on tv, I was partially watching it too.
Now, as an adult, I see it differently and fully understand it. Its fun to watch such old production and see how they made those movies back then.

Tp4 watched it for the action, Phinix probably watched it for the Jamie Lee Curtis scenes.
