GMK Beige Addon & Extension
As its name implies, it's beige. Why beige? Because beige is a pretty common colorway. Although I personally think it's boring, but it's great for this because you can find beige sets relatively easy to pair with this. I've been working on this along with DCS Vert (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=115434.0) for some time now, and I want to share it to you guys, and I also like to get some feedback on this. I know that I am running an IC for a DCS set in parallel, my actual plan is to run this after DCS Vert. But recently I saw that there're a few beige sets popping up, so I thought this would be useful to some people.

I'm not satisfied with the prices. These prices compared to the amount of keys you get is not good ($10 more than the total amount of keys). I've talked with Mike (M&C), couple of my friends and vendors about this. We have 5 options.
1) CMYK, R0&R5 and Addition at 500 MOQ - Prices of each of these kits will dropped by $5. Considering how people perceive GMK rn, it's very optimistic to hit 3x500 MOQ kits meaning vendors need to buy out the MOQ. I did some calculations and best case scenario is not only vendors will not get any profit, but each of them will need to spend at least $1,500 out of their pocket to buy out the MOQ. Even if we remove all the kits except these three, vendors will still not get any profit.
2) First option except R0&R5 at 250 MOQ - R0&R5 is at 250 MOQ because it require the most amount of money to buy out the 500 MOQ. Best case scenario is vendors will get profit, but very very little.
3) Second option except we remove some kits - Vendors will get a decent amount of profit, but we need to remove 2002 and 40s Kit.
4) CMYK, R0&R5 at 250 MOQ and Addition at 500 MOQ - Addition is not at 250 MOQ because compared to other kits this has the worst value per key. Vendors will get profit, but still little (a tad more than the 2nd). To make around the same range of profit as 3rd and 5th option, we need to remove 40s kit.
5) All at 250 MOQ - It's a little bit expensive than what I want, but we get to keep all of the kits. Vendors will get a decent amount of profit and this option has by far the least risk compared to others. And now vendors aren't taking nearly as many extras and hobby is shrinking, we think this is the best option.
Not only that we also have to consider, the average cost to ship from GMK is roughly $7.5/Base kit normally so figuring we don't have a base kit here, the cost might come down a bit but it will still land around $4.5-5.5. Then other vendors like OCE and such have high import taxes and fees, so we have to consider all the vendors. That's why prices have gone up a bit. I'd like to show you the quotes, but because of obvious reasons I can't. IMO this is not a good price compared to the amount of keys you get and how long you're going to wait, but this is the best we can do. I'd personally want see this set make MOQ, rather than trying to lower the price and possibly not hitting MOQ and remove some kits. So I need to be a bad guy here. You guys probably know that GMK has been raising their prices, and I'm also not happy about it. However, unfortunately this set can only be done with GMK considering new molds and everything. If you're not going to join this set because of the pricing, I totally understand you.

I disagree with removing R5 altogether. I personally have no OG set and didn’t buy zhuyin. But what I do have is multiple sets of R2 9009 that I’d love to have R5 for. I imagine the appeal of the r0/5 kit is for all of the Classic Retro variants that didn't have r0/5 support

This is a **** ton of kits. Hopefully vendors will be on board.i mean i could combine bae kit with addition & cmyk esc with cmyk kit and it’ll be 5 kits, but that would bump up the price by a lot. so i think leaving them separately is the best, for people who actually want them.

I think the idea of keeping kitting prices low is kinda lost when you break up CMYK escapes with the rest of CMYK. Are people really wanting to buy one or the other? I would think most people would want both. The sum of two child kits like this is almost always more expensive than one larger kit.

But please, please, for the keys with LED windows: request pad printing rather than UV printing, if GMK is able to do it. I've been consistently disappointed by GMKs UV print; it's noticeably raised from the keycap surface, the legends have HEAVY bleed and low quality, and the font doesn't match with the standard Cherry legends that GMK uses on their doubleshot keys.
This would make or break my interest.

I'm very interested in all of these kits.to my knowledge GMK actually doesn't do pad printing, only UV printing. what people have been calling pad-printed legends from GMK, they're actually uv-printed the whole time.
But please, please, for the keys with LED windows: request pad printing rather than UV printing, if GMK is able to do it. I've been consistently disappointed by GMKs UV print; it's noticeably raised from the keycap surface, the legends have HEAVY bleed and low quality, and the font doesn't match with the standard Cherry legends that GMK uses on their doubleshot keys.
This would make or break my interest.

2 heart and next line keys are a really neat touch for the addition kit. Any chance of also throwing in the 1u colored keys from that board (cancel, help, go back, enter)?

to my knowledge GMK actually doesn't do pad printing, only UV printing. what people have been calling pad-printed legends from GMK, they're actually uv-printed the whole time.I had thought the same up until recently; I saw the windowed keys for classic retro zhuyin (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=110921.0) were being pad printed. Going by what you've said though, I guess that's incorrect information and will be UV printed too.
It's a damn shame they don't offer pad printing, I really had my hopes up for a second there. If you ever have the opportunity to ask GMK and confirm this, that'd be amazing.

I consider the 6u space-bar the ideal size for a true bar (not the other minimal split bars); however, the wires for costar stabs (the best feeling ones) are not commercially available and the tools to make them are expensive (if you only need a few of them). Furthermore, 6u bars are scarce and unavailable for special colors, complicated by the fact that there are two designs for them that are not interchangeable. In summary, 6u space-bar designs are too complicated and impractical to source and use.

The new BAE kit is excellent. What would be the position of the stem at the BAE's top? Would it be set at the center of the 1.5 space? The Steelseries 7g and 6gv2 have that stem replaced with a long shaft that works like a stabilizer; instead, an ANSI-BAE should have a stem that fits the back-slash-pipe's stem.we'll use the same stem positions as DCS BAE with a stem in the spot of the pipe key for a dummy switch.

I would like to request that the 1u backspace key included in the BAE kit use an arrow legend instead of "back" - Or maybe include both keys? 1u R1 arrow backspace keys exist on a few vintage boards (which are pretty hard to come by these days) and this GB would be a great opportunity to have more made.
I have one of these keys with an arrow, and I like it; yet, I would prefer the key with the legend "back"; therefore, I would vote to keep it as it is designed or add a second one with the arrow.
