I am getting a cat for a number of reasons. Firstly I'm getting one over a dog because I don't spend enough time at home to keep a dog, I would feel guilty leaving him at home so much. We are also getting an older cat because we won't be home much, he will settle a lot easier and be better trained hopefully

I actually used to be allergic to cats, but my girlfriend has had cats since I've known her and my tolerance has gone up a hell of a lot.

Nah, it's not like a nut allergy or a bee allergy. Dextrose sweetener makes my throat and sinuses swell up. I opt for aspartame whenever I have the option. I'm fine with sucrose just as long as it's in moderation. I have problems with a lot of different corn byproducts, for example, if I buy a soda I try to buy one without fructose
