"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Oh, I thought tp was asking about some kind of electric monstrosity. I figured he'd probably know about mandolins.

Those rare times when strangers are really kind and smile at you for no reason at all other than just to spread positive feelings

REAL - RBF is rare,  the majority occurrence of RBF is the result of eyeliner + angled mascara.  If she was wearing her natural eyebrows, she wouldn't look Bi#%&y whatsoever.

So after the fiasco with my first eBay purchase from one particular seller, they did what they could to make it right for me.

They ended up selling me a server for $500 that was advertised as having 96GB of RAM, one Xeon E5-2420v2, and one 2TB HDD.

Just got it today, and it has not one, but EIGHT 2TB SAS drives in it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the server already has some kind of SAS controller... Because that would be a terrible tease

Yeah the backplane was SAS/SATA compatible with a RAID controller.

I was planning to throw the 4x 2TB SATA drives from my old server into it, but now I don't have to!

RAID6 datastore, here we come...

That is a nice outcome!

It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Ubuntu is not exactly my favorite distro base but I've got to give mad props to the folks behind Lubuntu. What a goregeous and responsive distro. Light on RAM (171MB RAM (LiveISO)). Perfect for Althon X1 1.6 GHz and up. Just WOW.  :-*

edit - I never thought scrolling on a single core (2650e) could be this smooth. Holy moly. That < 60 watt server tho

Just had a lady call in and get combative with me about the deed to her property... Trying to tell me that a Warranty Deed is a "warranty to a deed" and that she needs the "actual deed."

She threatened to "bring this matter to her attorney's attention" and I happily invited her to do so.. Hopefully she listens to him/her... sorry/rant

I (finally) got my home-made 9-pin joystick-to-USB adaptor with own firmware to work, hooked up my TAC-2 and played a level of New Zealand Story in an emulator.
I have never been much of a console gamer, and oh man am I much better at this with a joystick than with a gamepad ...

Also, the TAC-2 does not have a broken cable like I had thought but the button's switches don't always take. The TAC-2 does no thave microswitches but its own contraption with brass washer and metal clips, and that washer is known to get corroded over time. I think cleaning with some steel wool would take care of that.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect.

I just sat in the floor of my kitchen and ate chips with my two-year-old son. He is not feeling well so I brought him some of his favorite chips. Even though it was so simple, we had a really great and memorable moment.

That made me really happy.
