[IC] Cherry MX PCB and plate mount stabilizer sets.
« on: Thu, 23 August 2012, 23:54:37 »
This will undoubtedly be a small group, however since there is a lack of availability for 7x stabilizers I decided to pull a litster.  I have the proper wire bender and can source the necessary wire for 7x stabs.

We can do PCB mount (good for KMAC and others) and we can do plate mount but they're a little more expensive.

Typical 84/86key board is 4 2x + 1 7x
Typical 101key board is 7 2x + 1 7x

Since I'm custom bending the spacebar wires I can of course bend the spacebar stab to whatever dimension you need if for some reason you have a non-7x cherry stab compatible plate or PCB.

The 2 stabilizer options (PCB/plate) are sourced from different companies for the best price so that means grouped shipping gets added separately to either pile of stabs.

PCB G99-0742 starts at $.58 and drops an astounding $.11 if we make it to 250.
Plate G99-0224 starts at $.76 and drops $.21 if we make it to 250.
Space bar wires are going to be $1/ea to cover the wire and enough for a couple mistakes if I make them ;)

So for an 87key PCB mount board, it'll be ~$4 plus shipping to me and shipping to you. I estimate at less than $10 total.  Plate mount would be ~$5 ... estimated total less than $11

Obviously this is not an astounding deal however the big part is getting space bar stabs as I haven't found a low MOQ source.

So how many people are needing this?  :)  If we get real interest and I get some real sleep I'll even work up an actual price break chart.

Any details missing, blame my lack of sleep and it'll be fixed tomorrow.  edit: Ok fixed my inability to count keys... 7x spacebars are for boards w/ 1.5x mods  6.25x is the size for 1.25x mods (winkey)

Timeline:  Considering the decent amount of interest I am converting this to a GB on Sept 1.  Why so long?  Business trip.  So GB opens Sept 1, figure out your solid order quantities by then.

I need one Plate-mounted set (84 Key). I'd like a 101-set as well.
What spacebar stabilizer length is appropriate for a keyboard with winkeys?

These are always useful for people who want to DIY :)

Stem to stem (which is the exact length of a cherry stab wire) on 7x is 4.5"  and 6.25x for a Filco (and similar) is 3 15/16"

What do you need the plate mount set for?  You're the only one requesting so far.

I want both platemount and pcbmount, and 2; 7 and 6.26 wires. When I said a couple of each, I meant it. Never again shall I have the need for a stabilizer and not find one in my bag.

I seem to have a bunch of 2u already.

2pcs 7u
2pcs 6.25u
4pcs 2u

Half plate mounted and the other half pcb mounted if you decide to order both. That means 4 pairs of pcb mounted plastic bits and 4 pairs of pcb mounted plastic bits. It is fine with me if you make all the 2u plate mounted and and the longer ones pcb-mounted if that simplifies it for you, or just ship them not put together.

Ok folks, want to keep you in the loop of course.  The GB for these will open Sept 1, this is due to me being away on business for the next week.  Figure out your firm order counts because I don't want to be playing PM tag when I get back.

I'm down for 10 spacebar wires, and 10 each of the PCB and Plate-mount stabs.
