My current daily driver is a modded FC980M that I had used at work for a while. It is using 67g Kailh Pro Purples, Lubed, clipped, band-aided genuine cherry stabs, and the stock PBT front printed keycaps! I also have a Kira60 with a Zeal60 and 78g zilents, but I never felt comfortable taking that ****er to work. I also use a Prime-M as a CAD-pad, as I am an engineering major at GMU. That is using lubed Tealios with a mishmash of GMK Violet Tendencies mods and OG WoB cherry doubleshots for the alphas!

I don't see many ISO 60% with arrows! I had to file away bit of the plate to fit these in.

Finally put together my velvet red Singa R2 with a brass plate, polished stainless steel weight, retooled MX blacks lubed with Tribosys 3204 and spring-swapped with 68 g. catweewee gold springs. The stabilizers are GMK screw-in stabilizers that have been clipped, lubed (3204/SuperLube) and band-aid modded.

Yes, I know the spacebar doesn't fit but I didn't have a set with a 7u spacebar laying around. The keycaps are temporary, still waiting on a different set for this board. :)

Norbaforce (88UB, BKE Heavy, silenced), Noxary XRF (stock 87UB, 55g) Singa R2 (retooled MX Blacks w/ 68g catweewee springs), LZ GH V2 (V1 Zealios 67g), RAMA U80-A (Holy GSUS)

Using my current favorite layout + favorite switches.
Nightfox (Whitefox PCB) with lubed Blue Zilents 78g and SA Industrial. Cable is from CoolCableUK

Customized the right shift to be my play/pause button, which I use a lot.
Bugs me that I don't have the 1.5u backspace for this set though. Hoping to pick up a new SA set soon!

I just love the feel of these switches and the layout is perfect for my use. I'm typing much more efficient on this than a plain 60% or a 100%. Considering getting a Whitefox for my home build :)

Using a self built 60% with tmk firmware and spacefn layout.

Parts are from a cherry G80-3000 which I salvaged for switches, stabs and caps.
Switches are MX Clears modded to lubed ergo clears. Top plate is steel, bottom is lasered plywood.

I am using Topre RGB PCB in custom Titanium case with mixed sets of GMK key caps. A few 3d wonky keys I don't touch a lot like ESC, ALT. I think this as of now is my grail. I have over 2 grand invested in it. It really does not seem like 45g. Almost as stiff as Clears. Of course lubed, o-ring.

I have one of these Compaqs. I can confirm that the rubber dome does feels good under-finger. Mine came from a soldering plant or something; it has long melted scars on the case. It's seen some action!

At work: Ergodox EZ w/ MX Browns + a few MX Clears I tossed in just to get a feel for them (mostly at thumbs; space and return, a couple others). A mix of their PBT caps that came with the board, and some of my Granite caps for a little color.

At home: O.G. Ergodox w/ MX Blues modded with Red springs (I think.... 35g springs, anyway), the rest of the Granite caps and few others tossed on for good measure, no pics currently. Also in use at home is a CM QFR w/ MX Reds that is waiting for the Jukebox caps to show up from the MD Black Friday drop :thumb:

Hi guys...

My first post here... I know this is the wrong sub-forum for this question, but this is the one of the best threads to ask this given who is posting in it; being that it's about what keyboards you guys are actually "using now".

I noticed that the big majority of you are all using the normal rectangular layout of keys be it 60%, TKL or the full set with what look like normal switch travel and keycap profile. Now I am puzzled as to how you guys get by since I find that I can't type on a normal rectangular key layout unless I:

a. Type on a setup where the keyboard is hip-height or close to it; like one would find on a table with an under-desk pull-out tray. (Which I don't have at the moment)

b. Allow the keyboard to be on the desktop, but then I will have to take quite some care in terms of how I position myself in relation to the keyboard. If I just move the keyboard so much as a few little degrees from the ideal orientation or shift the keyboard just one or two centimeters to the right or left, then I'm going to feel the aches and discomfort about 30 to 40 minutes into the typing session. (This is my current situation.)

Now I'm not even a big or wide guy, so I don't have to scrunch my arms or shoulders to get my fingers on the home row. I'm not old or suffering from past injuries or such either. Still, I get typing discomfort very easily if I don't follow the directions above.

And the big problem is that I need to move my keyboard around my desk a lot because I read on it, do drawings on it and all kinds of things on it that require the keyboard to be shifted everywhere and when I do type on it, I can't move my papers or works aside that easily because they are usually oriented in a particular way around me to maximise productivity.

So for the vast majority of you guys who are using the standard non-split/angled keyboard layout, how do you get by? Does a wrist-rest solve all your issues for you? Do you not move your keyboard about much and thus restrict it to a very specific position on the desk where you don't feel like ergonomics are an issue? If yes to those, then your bodies are like mine me and then I guess I would be doing what you guys are doing and drooling over more rectangular KBs!

But if you are also like me in that you have to move your KB about your desk a lot and often have to type on it at not the ideal location, how do you get by?

Just curious... Not trying to derail this thread or anything, but if just one or two of the more experienced members could tell me how it is that ergonomic keyboards aren't dominating this thread and what most most posters here are doing with their typing setups that allows them to use the normal keyboard layout -that would be extremely helpful...

Me personally, I will have to either get a low-profile keyboard with minimal switch travel (somehow it makes ergonomics much less of an issue for me) or get a split keyboard or something like that.

 :-\

I'm using my CODE with MX clears but keep looking at the QFR with MX greens on the shelf over there.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Omg so jealous, I really want to buy it but the price is so steep compare to regular Topre.

And I currently own a 104UW modded with KBDFans silence rings so it would be a minor upgrade for me, so it's a tough call even though I really want it.

Decided to give my Monterey K108 some desk time. The switches are $$$ like always, and the board is so light and flexing that a big bad wolf could blow it apart.
Excellent fun just the way it is!

Thanks, my guy. You should definitely start building it! It’s a great board.
