3D Trackball project
« on: Tue, 14 April 2020, 21:38:35 »
Hi all,
It's been a while since I've been on the forums here, but I wanted to post since I'm moving forward on a project I started years ago: the 3D trackball.

Basically, it's a standard trackball, but with 2 sensors, so we can capture all the axes of rotation. It'll roll on ball transfer units for extra awesome. I'm a senior Electrical Engineering Student and I'll be producing this next semester as my capstone.

Right now we're still planning it, so I'd love any input you may have. Also feel free to take this survey I created. We're supposed to get as many responses as possible.

The URL looks like that because we're using free student accounts with the Qualtrics survey software.

I'll update this post with more info as the design comes together. Right now we're using Avago ADNS9800 sensors, but I want to upgrade to pixart 3XXX series because they'll have less acceleration error.

Cheers!
