Taller keyboard feet for filco aluminum TKL case
« on: Sat, 15 September 2018, 13:42:03 »
Anyone know where I can find taller screw in feet for the Filco aluminum TKL cases. I'd like to get a bit higher of an angle for my blue alps tkl.  The included feet look like the ones here: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/images/products/large_281_DSC_0773.jpg

Figured I'd see if anyone knows any taller ones before figuring out some diy measure with foam or something hah.

I think one company did make some, but I have no idea who it was, maybe Gon, but if it is you may be waiting a year to get them.

My advice, make some.
Here is mine, it's a 5/8th inch aluminum bar, with some thick o-rings (in a shallow groove) and recessed bolt seats.
Took an hour or two using common hand tools and can be sourced locally pretty easily (Home Delpot).

Latest (original o-rings got old and cracked, I need to find some more)

Thanks, mine didn't initially come with feet so (Vortex screwed that up), so  I did this, then I got the feet and wasn't impressed with the height so I kept it.

Since you have feet though, the simplest solution is some washers under the feet and longer bolts. Won't look pretty if you flip it over, but it will get you the height you want. If you know someone with a 3d printer get them to print you some nice spacers instead of the washers. A lathe with some wood, plex, or aluminum would also work. As would a drill press and a hole saw. Lots of ways to do this.

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking - maybe some rubber washers. Heading to lowes later today so maybe I'll be able to figure something out. Thinking of elevating it 1 or 1.5cm more. I usually like low angles but without sculpted caps I make a lot more typos!

I ran into this, had some pink gon feet that fit my vortex/filco case but I wanted to use some taller blue ones. Since they were still made by gon, I figured they would screw right in, unfortunately, they didn't. At the advice of a friend, I used some two sided mounting tape meant for furniture and it worked really well. It was surprisingly sturdy - I could scoot the (heavy) board around and the feet wouldn't budge. The adhesive should be pretty easy to get off with some fingernail polish or some kind of adhesive remover as well.
