« on: Sun, 09 December 2018, 20:16:32 »

This interest check is for a Mini 1800 layout keyboard (bye bye f-row). Pictures are attached.

Thanks,

of course, but it would be so different design. the F-row would be reduced to 13 keys and clustered to groups of 4 f keys.

Very interested.. but i would like to see some more info such as materials, layout options if any, programming etc.

Probably either 6061 or 6062 aluminum case, brass weight, brass, aluminum, and possibly polycarbonate plate options, very likely to be somewhat/completely fixed layout, PCB is QMK.

Correction, Quantrik always uses 6063.

Yes

as much as my interest I'm also curious about layout options, for instance, the bottom row

There will be 2 different plates for 2 bottom row options

- 1.5 1.5 7 1.5 1.5
- 1.25 1.25 1.25 6.25 1.5 1.5

Material of the case? Any idea on what colors may be available?

Material: 6063 aluminum
Colors: Black, Silver, Blue Grey, Dark Purple

Need more info pls

Cool

QMK Type-C

Super interested! Hope the pcb is qmk compatible

But then I'd have to throw the board in the trash

I love 1800 layouts and small boards, but I think I'm still going to hold out for an eventual R2 of yangdigi's 1800mini -- the numrow is really the superfluous part of the 1800 for me (as a couple of people said upthread), and something about that other layout really speaks to me. This is a good looking board though! Hope the GB goes well!

Wow, that is a nice board!

Loving the look.  Would be interested in what the options for the spacebar row would be.  Will there be options for a windows key?

My concern is physical openings for stab / switch on plate and PCB, it might be compatible with both 2U and split BS but I didn't see it mentioned... Anyway, not deal breaking issue, the want is still strong

Until the OP says so, I wouldn't assume.  Of course, long silences don't help.  But there's sometimes a lull as they look at options.  Same with WoB Hiragana hopefully.

You do know that normal keysets come with split bs caps in the right profile. It's common for keysets to have the caps for HHKB layout which uses split bs. This board is using caps that normally come in standard base keysets, there isn't any special keys that would require you to buy different kits for compatibility.

Factory made dope boards, factory revealed it was the one who made dope boards, factory increases price with the prior good product as example, more people use said factory, repeat. Also I think prices have been rising across the board due to regulations being stricter and more enforcement overseas.

To add to this, when Quant started this thread he planned a full GB.  Not every IC leads to that.  Running QXP made him realize he didn't want to run such large GB's.  I get that people maybe had their hopes up and are disappointed, but there are plenty of boards posted all the time.  Find something else you like and move on, maybe he'll come back to this in the future.

in fairness to quant, private GBs are a LOT easier to manage than a public one

far less complaining

To add to this, when Quant started this thread he planned a full GB.  Not every IC leads to that.  Running QXP made him realize he didn't want to run such large GB's.  I get that people maybe had their hopes up and are disappointed, but there are plenty of boards posted all the time.  Find something else you like and move on, maybe he'll come back to this in the future.

Well couldn’t he at least tell us that?

If you treat everything in this hobby with that backwards mentality then there will be no progress and the custom community would die out to a small group of elites.

What happened to the QXP probably changed his mind. I understand how hard it is to do a big group buy. Far less problems, less complains and less things to QC tho higher costs for small runs.

That being said.. Yes it's his design and he can do whatever he pleases. I like this layout, joined the raffle and also bummed that i did not win a slot, but that's life.

Quantrik can absolutely run the GB however he wants, but communication is literally what this forum is all about, and he didn't say anything here. I'm also in agreement with dimo's sentiment about the elites here, who are naturally the ones excusing Quantrik's lack of communication. However, I don't think the community will ever get to a point where us peasants don't have any options.

Why are you being so hostile while ignoring literally every argument I've made. Instead resorting to sarcastically summarizing my entire reply as my desire to feel special like the rest of you elitists. I don't understand how you could reply to me twice while providing almost nothing to the conversation.

and why in the **** would I design a board and make a private run. That's exactly what I've been arguing against this entire damn time; you're just further embarrassing yourself as everything I'm saying seems to keep going over your head.

I could care less about this stupid drama, but I dropped in because your attitudes will not progress this community forward.

in reference to all the comments about " it his design his GB" , "go find another board GB"... 1. high quality  1800/ 96 key boards aren't available frequently (why is that? - they seem to be in high demand) , yea you could go on a scavenger hunt on tao bao or in the marketplace forums but its still tough. 2. As was previously mentioned, communication is key, expectations would have been adjusted, as I have witnessed in many other IC's. Telling someone to run their own GB is counterproductive, most who have been in the community for any amount of time know that it is tough, and we also know that we are tough. Most reasonable GB participants just ask for communication. I've witnessed that  Most issues and complaints on GB's come from lack of communication/ transparency.

Exactly. All I asked from the start was one comment from Quantrik that could have cleared things up. That’s all..

Agreed.  This is a public forum with a large following and a board layout that sparks a lot of interest.  What did he THINK was gonna happen once he posted this?  Not a fan of how this rolled out and wouldn't buy anything from him.  Just my 2 cents.

I understand people are annoyed but Quantrik doesn't owe anyone anything including an explanation. People are taking this unreasonably as a personal injustice. This was only an IC not a group buy. As such the individual with the creative influence controls the destiny and what if any attention it gets. The sense of entitlement is absurd.

Hola buddies,

I posted a google doc for entering the GB raffle in 5 or 6 very popular discord servers and had around 70+ raffle entries in the short while it was open. I felt that was enough interest to choose 10 winners.

I'm kind of lazy these days with making formatted posts on geekhack and being forced to post updates in the GB threads. I use discord for other reasons besides keyboards so it is more convenient for me to post updates in my server. I tried linking to it on GH but the mods removed it  :thumb:.

I'm testing out some new factories so there may be another run of this board in the future besides the 10 raffle winners. I can't promise I will post about it on this forum but you should be able to find me on discord if you are motivated.

Anyways, I have some GBs to wrap up so those will be my main focus for the immediate future.

Thankies,
Quantrik

Ok buddy pal, none of those things have to do anything with requesting communication about an IC/GB.

Nobody is taking it as a personal injustice; we're all simply saying that communication should have been better. It's not much of a community without that. The sole purpose of this IC forum is to communicate and gather input, and as many people waited, news was provided elsewhere. No need to act all holier-than-thou.
