just one more :P

Process update: We're still waiting on carbon plates cutting and then do a final fit test before anodizing, everything looks good and en route for now.

Next week will be the Lunar New Year so expecting 1-2 weeks off from the workshop, I'll keep you informed :thumb:

@foggyflute or bazh

I'm so interested with this GB and am looking forward to the next round.
This case seems to be portable and handy as well as good-looking IMO.
Especially the lightness of case appeals to me pretty much.

BTW, actually I'm a big fan of 65% keyboard rather than 60%.
I wonder if you would be able to make the same case for 65% compatible with Finger L3 PCB.
Actually zennasyndroxx is now doing interest checks on the aluminium case for this PCB.
Here is the link : [IC] Full Aluminum 65% keyboard.
About physical dimension data or something for this PCB and plate, you may have them from him or share them with him, but I'm not sure of it.

I'm so happy if making this happen.

Been using a FC660M at work but I would love a more high-end programmable version of it. 65% is close enough.

Oooo. He might be a little busy with all of the LZ-RV stuff... Heh. I ordered one of those too... Anyway, I am excited to see pictures!

Since you said earlier that production was already underway (if I'm not mistaken), does that mean we will be getting the boards sooner rather than later, even if it takes a while for the last payment to be made?

Anodizing process is not done in-house so we rather do full batch at a time (it take longer if we do small number of odd pieces, lower priority). So there is 2 options: anod without his kit or keep waiting :(

PS: Imgs before send to sandblast shop, still left them there.

Those look awesome! Shoot me a pm about what colors karura chose, and what the cost of his invoice is.

If need be, I might be willing to cover the cost of his board (depending on what my better half says, and how much it was, since I've totally forgotten the exact amount), given that you'll send it to me if he doesn't pay (me back for the cost of the board) by the time they're finished.

I would really like to have these in my hands, rather than waiting around for someone to pay

For future buys, would it be possible for us to order an alu plate if we wish to add some color to the board? I'm really liking the purple and green combo in the OP!

I want to thank KaminKevCrew for bringing it to my attention that I had to pay immediately.

I must apologize for holding everyone up, as I have been very occupied with quite a lot of personal matters lately, and have also been doing my best to run GB things, and have missed the Paypal reminders.

Hope all is good, I have just paid, and I want to thank Bazh for designing and running this phenomenal design.

Question, are the CF plates coated after cutting out the switch holes?

I do not want to get CF splinters in my hands.

I'm pretty sure that was talked about in the interest check. The plates should be made out of a dense enough weave that they won't actually splinter. (IIRC, of course.)

Right, I wasn't sure if it was, I'm just slightly concerned, because CF splinters are no joke. D:

That's very true. Carbon splinters suck.

Hmm, high speed cut using CNC router with sharp mill bit like our plate should not leaving any splinter, just some CF dust (that I cleaned off) since factory-made sheet have plenty of epoxy bond. I have no problem running my finger along edges and prying switches off the plates (will show you a video but not that I endorse this action).

But since you still have concerns, I will do CA sealing test and report around this weekend.

Any updates on the boards? I suppose that it's still Chinese New Year (?) So it'll be a little while until the boards are done?

They are looking awesome though! I love how heavy duty the edges of the board around the CF is looking!!!

It's 6th day of Lunar New Year today so hopefully they will start next week, sometime they are slow to start since staff are not fully present after the holiday (go back to hometown is big tradition here_in Vietnam).

Back to work guys, the festive week is over! :P

Here's the final fit test before heading to the sandblasting and anodizing factory

Sandblasting is already done and now we're queuing for anodising, the holiday holds up their previous works already also so it'd be somewhat a little inevitable delay, but expecting 1 to 2 weeks at most to get everything done :thumb:

That's all for now :P

A small update.

To-do list:

- Making an assembly tutorial, it's not easy (but not hard) since the four frame pieces are intentional CNCed at a 'press-fit' tolerance (NO GAPS) so no dust can get in the joins, you will need to apply some force at the right step

- Prepare boxes and extras.

- Final assembly of each kit before shipping.

Regarding the edge sealing request:

I tried the CA glue sealing but hard to keep it to the edges only, especially when applied inside the switch holes. It ruined the look and add thickness that broke the assembly process. Sealing with wax is possible but not really do anything with your worry about splinter, just make it look a bit more shiny.

Like I said, the plate is made with plenty epoxy bond and fiberglass core so unless there's a strong force applied (like RC car collision, drone crash), there will be no splinter. My carbon plates are shipped with smooth edge and splinter free (checked and cleaned each of them by myself). If it happen to have those nasty splinter - I will ship you a new one, free of charge.
