Title: Kensington Slimblade Buttons "sticking"
Post by: coolspot on Thu, 30 June 2016, 18:16:56
Hi all,

I see that there is a common complaint that the buttons on the Kensington Slimblade then to "stick" - if you don't press a particular button for a while, it requires extra force to press down. I find this behaviour very annoying.

Has anyone found a fix for this problem - are there any mods to make the Slimblade buttons smoother so they don't stick from time to time?

My disassembly pics. (https://imgur.com/a/u2tLb)

The buttons act as levers, thus you should be pressing them above switches or as close to their edges at 9/3 o'clock as possible to minimize force. If they grind or stick, it's probably because the upper part of the case (with buttons) is misaligned.

Left mouse button is fine, but all the other buttons seem to stick from time to time - what I mean by that is that it will require extra force to push and then it will "click" back into place - for a while, until I change buttons.

So I guess only fix is to disassembly and realign?
