I dig the colorway, but please, please, please include alpha colored WASD as well.
In addition for the F-row from F1 to Pause, I’d personally prefer grey/blue/grey/blue (aka traditional hiney said) as opposed to blue/grey/blue/grey (like you have mocked up now) but that’s not a dealbreaker for me necessarily.

Thats a fair point. I'll work on playing with the F-row and seeing how it looks. I could always include the alternative scheme (shown in the renders) in a kit possibly. And I had considered the WASD issue as well and put the alpha colored ones in the base kit, they're just placed below.
The Fn row is reversed compared to "traditional" coloring. F1-F4, F9-F12 is traditionally the alpha colorway, and F5-F8 and the nav keys are the mod colorway.
Just adding that bc I feel it'd look better with the normal styling
White alphas dont work for the deep ocean themeAgree if it was like pure white. This is more in line of a muted white tho...

A hammerhead keyset must has a hammerhead novelty key. Just a suggestion! I’m looking forward to this :)
I like the colours too.

Sweet. Glad you like it! I don't know exactly whether the designs will be row 1 or maybe a few on row 4 maybe. I'll have to play around with it a little bit and see what looks the best.

I really dig the novelties, especially the shark ones.
Agreed on getting the Pantone/RAL colours, but I'm really loving this set! I'm not the biggest fan of the different coloured WASD for the base kit, but I imagine that has something to do with the Hammerhead theme? If there was an option to have the WASD match the rest of the base alphas I'd probably go with that, but I can definitely jam to this too.
I think you've got a good set on your hands!

Take another look at the base kit -- he included WASD alphas to match the rest of the alphas, in addition to the accent-colored WASD keys. The ASD is in the far right of the R3 line in the bottom right corner of the kit render, and the W is one line up, more to the left.

Well thats awesome, really happy to hear that. Stay tuned for pricing soon! Currently in talks with GMK to lock that in. Might be working on some artisans behind the scenes...
maybe too similar to hyperfuse? In reality the alphas would be an instabuy, to combine them with that set.
Just fix this in the alphas set, bacause otherwise it is unusable, add:
R2 <>
R3 #
R4 \|
F J with bars

This will definitely be my first keycap set groupbuy! Love the colors. Like Hyperfuse and Necro best features combined.

In the near future! I'm finalizing talks with regional vendors outside the US and keylabskeycaps.com will be the US vendor.
Hope this helps :)

oh wow this is a beautiful set. Any possibility to get the Alternative Alphas Set for EURO as well? I much prefer the Alternative Alphas colors than the grey ones of the EURO Kit :)
any update now?
Still quite some time left until GB but excited!
Looks like you'll be going to toe-to-toe with GMK Oblivion. Good Luck.
This is an excellent kit so I hope Oblivion doesn't take too much of the spotlight.
New renders make me reconsider getting this! I just wish the numpad had the sub legends removed. It looks so much nicer that way imo. GL with GB :thumb:

Hey thanks! Big fan of your set as well, really great stuff. I'd like to pick one up if I can budget for it. Good luck to you too.
Haha thanks for the input, I'm a little more partial to the subs myself so I made the call earlier on to leave them in, but thats just me

Are the dark alphas closer to the rich dark colors of the renders or the most pastel colors of the gmk pictures?
I saw the latest update and thought that with the GB in sight, it would be nice to see what the color combinations of Metropolis and Hammerhead would look like next to each other, so I mocked up a little comparison in PS. (Pardon my rudimentary graphic design :-X)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/EPaXJYF.jpg)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/OX5zSN7.jpg)
I was surprised how different some of the colors ended up looking (e.g. 3258 vs. 333) but I think that it might be quite hard to tell in person. I think by mixing some of the kits together you could still end up with some pretty nice looking results!

This is really cool actually, solid work! Honestly I would probably want to hold both kits in my hands to see how well they gel together but up until this point I hadn't really considered mixing them. Could end up looking really cool though.
Is there any chance to make "alternative Alpha kit" become the main base set and Alpha in the base set become " Alternative kit"?
Probably way too late for this, but the accent arrows and WASD keys are really not necessary in a base kit and probably drive up price quite a bit. This is like the bad old days of GMK group buys and I don't think anyone misses that. Have you considered moving these into a separate kit?
Edit: This might have a hard time with MOQ at this price and size given how many kits are running right now. I'd be more inclined to buy if it were smaller and cheaper.
Edit 2: also accent spacebars in base kit with alpha color spacebars in the separate kit .... no. I love this colorway but I'm not paying $300+ to get a sane, normal, standard kit that includes a ton of caps I don't need. This didn't work for DMG and it shouldn't work here almost on principle.
AgreeI agree with tex and Kevlarbear.
And what is the key that looks like the buttocks of that monkey?

I agree with this, I feel like there is too much cross contamination of kits going on. How about simplifying things to something like this?

Others have more experience watching this community than I do. That said, I worry splitting to two high price base kits when you're going to overlap with GMK Oblivion round 2 (with leaner kits and price drops) is how MOQ isn't reached on either. I hope I'm wrong, I like this set.

And now it appears that GMK Olive will also be in June.
I have to agree with IOVERCALLHISTIOCYTES above. You may just be splitting your audience, and thus your numbers. Just one base kit streamlines everyone into 1 kit, which will allow for a much easier time hitting MOQ. Perhaps offer the alternative alpha set during RD2 of GMK Hammerhead?
Lastly, I know it's nice to cater to the Euro folks, but what's the reasoning for not offering the minimum ISO compat in the base kit? Even the big name Europeans like Oblotzky and Zambumon don't have their separate ISO kits reach MOQ. When that kit doesn't make MOQ, you'll likely lose those folks from your base kit too. Trying to provide some constructive feedback; that is all. Good luck :thumb:
Just saw the new update Deep Water kit, this is a very nice touch as suggested by others. IMO i actually like this a lot more over the original design, especially seeing how the official GMK renders turn out.
Would definitely love to get the Deep Water kit + Novelties, ideally would be nice to have it price around 40 if possible as most are around that price point such as GMK Laser.

So I had actually thought quite a bit about the additional MOQ while working on the separate Deep Water base kit. The only reason I chose this route is that it has no additional MOQ requirement and acts as a child kit when replacing the alt alphas. Since the mods are identical to the main, the MOQ is 100 for the kit. So ideally this secondary kit will better provide to the audience that wants to exclusively rock the alt alphas while offereing them a lower price by quite a lot without raising MOQ requirements.
I appreciate the feedback for sure, it’s difficult to make the decision what to add into the kit however, at this point projections are looking good across the board as far as reaching MOQ on the ISO kit.

These are absolutely valid concerns to be sure, and I’ll be taking a look at what I can do over the next two weeks or so to bring down the costs a little. It looks right now that the set will debut right around $150 for the core and hopefully a little less in the US at 250 units and then going down at 500, 1000 etc. ideally if the set reaches 500 the price point should be right around 140 or a little less for the US.
What I can say for sure right now, is that I’m working to offer a complete alternative core set featuring the alternative alphas. This way, those interested in just the alt alphas have the option of picking up a set featuring those for a lot less than is currently possible. I’ll see what else I can finagle with the pricing.
Thanks for the work putting together those kit suggestions, I’ll look at them a little more closely when I have a minute (currently traveling the next few days) I just wanted to mention that I’m taking the feedback in stride.
I was interested in the Deep Water kit, but since i am a ISO user, splitting the ISO kit means you also have to provide a Deep Water ISO kit... Having the ISO provided in the base kit (like most other GMK group buys such as Mizu) did make a lot of sense.

Unless I’m mistaken, the Deep Water kit does include ISO by default. The enter is in the medium blue mod color rather than the alpha.

I REALLY loathe the notion that I'd have to buy 2 kits only to throw away all the Core alpha keys just so that I can have a complete Deep Water kit (and I don't think anyone on r/mechmarket will buy just those Core alphas from me either).

Those are sooooo much better OMG. The accent color spacebar in the core kit is maddening, and the gamer keys...
I could see this set doing well with your kit structure, but tbh I don't think it'll work with the original structure.
I can confirm that the gamer WASD keys have been scrapped, alpha colored spacebars have been added to the core and deep water kits and teal spacebars have been added to the spacebar kit and some other minor substitutions have been made. With those changes, I’m pretty happy with the results. The nice thing is I’m able to keep the larger kit while still being very close if not the same price range as smaller kits due to the fact I’m acting as the designer and using our store as the main vendor. Even with this size we’re looking at close to or at $140 for the US purchases of the main kits
Will we get the keys above Tab and Enter in mod color too? That’s a dealbreaker for me.
The way these kits are organized is super frustrating. If I want both alphas, I have to rebuy all of the mods and extra caps?
Also what exactly is in the base kits? Are the opposite color WASDs in your original render not part of this anymore either? If there is euro child why is iso enter in base kit? 140$ is too expensive for a base kit.
Love the colors, but the kit choices may make this no go for me.
I can confirm that the gamer WASD keys have been scrapped...(This is a good change, I did feel that they were unnecessary.)
Not sure what's more confusing, this thread or the kits themselves. Please re-render so that your images reflect the current state of the kits, you got a nice colorway but I have no idea what's going on in this IC
$140 really isn't that high for a GMK base kit with this much compat imo - I'm very glad to have ISO UK support in the base kit, which is something that's constantly cut out nowadays. The way this base kit is done is against the current trend, but personally I prefer it this way.
My biggest disapointment is that it seems in order to replicate the same color setup that has been in every single render posted so far, not only would I need to buy a second alpha set, I need to buy duplicates of every single mod as well, and maybe the sapcebar addon, too. It's not clear to me if the teal spacebar is in the base kit or not.
I wouldn't mind needing to buy just the teal alphas, I get that not everyone wants off color WASD. however, needing to buy a duplicate base kit (that is already IMO too expensive) is too much.
Your render is pretty much the reason I'm interested in this set, but in order to replicate it I'm looking at two base kits a space kit, and novelties. Best case scenario thats 280+ whatever the cost of the spacebar and novelty kits. And I wont use 75% of those caps because they are dupes or for an uncommon compatability use case.
That's kind of a raw deal.

Ah this is unfortunate. I was hoping to just pick up the deep water alpha's.
I specifically joined the GMK blanks GB so I could combine it on an ortho board.

Ahh I’m sorry to hear that, unfortunately I didn’t think it was likely to hit the MOQ on just the alphas if there was a full kit available. However, I plan on picking up at least one of everything myself, and if you’re still interested when the time comes, I’d be happy to part with a set of alphas myself
any chance we can have a look at the deskmat designs? or will they be first released when the gb starts?
New kits look much nicer.
One big question still: why have 6u (very rare) in base, but have 7u (increasingly common, arguably standard in high-end customs nowadays) in spacebar kit? That should probably be swapped.
Please please please delay this GB, and take some time to really go over your kit structure. Keeping a 6u space bar in the base but omitting the 7u makes no sense, pushing the modifier colored Esc key to the Novelty kit makes no sense, running a set with two base kits when Olive is about to go live makes no sense. The colorway is wonderful, the novelties are fantastic, but you need to take some time to really go over your kit structure instead of rushing into a Group Buy.
So I usually try not stick my nose in other sets business, but I really like this set, so im going to give my two cents.+1
All of my thoughts are based off my knowledge and experience running many GBs.
Few things that I think are hurting this set.
1. Two base kits. Both of these kits will need to hit 250 MOQ *each*. So by making two separate kits, you are hurting yourself by competing with your own set, with your own set. If you really want different alphas, just offer them as a stand alone kit as an add on.
2. No 7u spacebar in base, but you have the 1.5u mods that are meant to be used with 7u bottom row. And even more strange, the 6u off centered spacebar was chosen over the 7u, which is basically the second most popular spacebar needed. And even *more* strange is that you only have the accent off centered 6u spacebar in the base and the alphas colored one is in the spacebar kit. Also i believe your split spacebars should be the colors of the main alphas, not the alternate colored ones. But again, this is just showing that having two bas kits will possibly hurt everything.
3. You don't have a mod colored Esc key in your base kit. Which is standard. People have to buy the *huge* novelty kit, just to get something that is usually standard. You should swap the Esc keys.
4. Your novelty kit is huge. I don't understand why there are four different skull caps when the set is about the shark. I would suggest narrowing this set down by a lot, in order to avoid it being so expensive that a lot of people back out of buying it, on top of the already huge Base kit.
So basically if someone wants to put this set on their 7u bottom row board with normal color placement, they will have to buy the base, the spacebar for the 7u and then the novelties for the esc key. So they will be spending an outrageous amount of money just to get what every base kit usually has in the base.
And all of this on top of running at the same time as juggernauts, Oblivion and Olive. You need every advantage you can get to compete. And all of these things are doing the opposite.
I like this set a lot and would like to see if succeed. I hope some of this may have helped.

Agreed on other points, but I think runner has said that the Deep Water kit will have a MOQ of 100 as it's acting as a child kit. Lmao at all the people just showing up now to give input on how to rework the entire set. This has been in IC for six months.

People were giving inputs because they wanted to support the GB's runner and see another successful GB. Everything is said out of goodwill and I don't think anyone means any harm/attack towards the GB's runner. Garrett is a very well respected veteran of the community. If someone like Garrett drafts out a long, thoughtful suggestion on any IC of mine, I would be damn sure to read twice every single word they have to offer.
While I am in favour of reworking the base kit to support the common, standard keycaps, I am also in favour of keeping the 40% support in addition to this.
If the price is really as low as $140-150 WITH the 40s set in the base set, that's very attractive (especially when you consider that these are pantone colours, not gmk standard).

I agree with this as well. We don't need a super-slim $120 base kit. People just want standard compatibility.
- 6.25u ANSI
- 7u tsangan
- HHKB
- Stepped caps
- Numpad
- 1800
- 65% / 75%
- Bare-bones ISO-UK
- 40%
If you tick all those boxes for $140, you're doing well IMO. Everything else is bonus and should be treated as such.

Agreed, it would make more sense to move the rare/split/accent spacebars to the spacebar kit and put the 6.25u and 7u bars with with their respective alpha kits. Also probably worth considering removing that mod colored Esc from the novelties and adding it to each of the kits so if you just want the mods to match you don't need to get the novelties for just one key. Also, why have a 536C spacebar in the deep water kit?

Thanks for the feedback. 7u will be added to both kits along with a mod color (2358 c) r1 esc key.
Devil's advocate: the accent Enter and Space keys in the base kit look really nice. Are you really gonna want to put the regular one there? :p
I think the Pantone colour code for the Deep Water alpha background colour is incorrect. 553 C corresponds to a completely different green colour. However all the other Pantone codes are correct. Do I get a free set for being the first to notice this mistake? /sImage says 533c, not 553c, which is correct (https://www.pantone.com/color-finder/533-C).
(but for real please gimme)

Better late than never. Would you have preferred it go out in its current iteration?
Lmao at all the people just showing up now to give input on how to rework the entire set. This has been in IC for six months.
It flew more or less totally under the radar. Recently it got attention in different venues (Reddit and Discord) -- many people are seeing it for the first time.

I hate beating on a dead horse, but a reconsideration of kits offering might not be a terrible idea. Garrett pretty much nailed everything in the coffin. I want to join, but I personally would love to see some cleanups from the novelties kit and the 7U spacebar offered in the base kit.
It's fair that it deserves more attention now that the GB is approaching, and the points on kit changes are valid. New critiques at the 11th hour on a 6-month IC would have me a bit miffed if I were running it. But the kit groupings are not too hard to change (as well as being good ideas), so overall not a huge deal.

It has certainly not been a stress free process the past few days, I am happy to have the feedback though. I think most people will be happy with the final kits and I’m personally pleased with the state of the kits based on the original concept I had for this first keyset I’ve worked on.
i know final kits and all, but the deepwater seems to have a duplicate key, the mod-colored `~ key in the top left. is this beeing corrected?

Ah nice catch. Unfortunately I had not seen that. One of those is supposed to be the darker blue color. I'll see what I can do with GMK, but requesting another quote an render may change costs and take some time.
If we're doing last minute changes, could this spacebar be made the right colour?I agree. Spacebar should be either mods grey or turquoise.Show Image(https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/558001562228883507/585367652424351755/unknown.png)
I'll be picking up core instead of deep water anyway, but found this strange.
This may have already been discussed but is the spare spacebar in the core set 7u? This doesn't seem to be written anywhere so I just wanted to make sure before I ordered. Thanks!

Seems to only be available in the Deep Water kit, yet this render is mostly Core? And that specific spacebar isn't in the spacebar kit. Was hoping to make my set look like this too, but I don't know if I wanna shell for two base kits just to do so. :(

And here I thought having an accurate final render of the kit before going to GB is a common thing to do? Sorry I really want this set, but I just want to make sure I'll get what I order, and I need an accurate final render of what is going to be sold. Some random words here and there of fixing this key, adding another key, etc. is not gonna cut it for me.

There is no group buy form, only an Interest check form just to clarify any confusion. Group buy entries are available here where all kits are finalized:

Thanks for this point. The kit sets you see on the GB page are the final versions.
Nothing will be subtracted or changed from the kits on the site. They ship as advertised. If anything is added it will be for free and of no cost to the customer, on our dime, as a separate bonus item.
TheKeyLabs website is hijacking system scrolling, adding some strange latency. I don't know who owns the website but that is a Top Ten Do Not Do thing. I literally cannot select the kit I want, because the site scrolls either higher or lower.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but were any samples acquired / any pictures posted?
When will zFrontier put the GB on website?
Also, is the deskpad only available on Keylab?
is this not made available in zfronter english site? (en.zfrontier.com)?

Despite my best efforts overlooking the kits there is a lot going on organizationally in the development. Unfortunately the single key had been missed on inspection, luckily it was pointed out and will be changed with no cost to the customer. Those who have purchased the GB will be notified, but the replacement of a duplicate key with the correct one hopefully shouldn't upset anyone. Thanks for your feedback.

Pantone chips are $18, hopefully Keylabs at least has those in hand. It's somewhat of a formality, and I trust Keylabs more than most with getting colors right, but it's always nice to see the color chip and not just the computer screen representation.

So the kits are final, until they aren't? Sorry but what? You change opinions and how the kits are handled every few hours...
I've tried to ask multiple times during the IC but never got a proper answer from you. Just want to make sure I got the final message before pulling out so I am not missing out on anything. The spacebar issue will not get addressed, correct?
For whatever color there is a 6.25U, there should be 7U of the same color included in the base kit in my opinion. Say if I want an accented navy 7U spacebar, the only way I can get that key is from buying a whole Deep Water base kit. Do you see now the problem we've been trying to communicate with you throughout the IC?
The set is now available on zFrontier. And why on earth the deep water kit has $5 extra compared to core kit. Not to mention the quite high inclusive shipping cost as if it tells me to order from other vendor instead.
so i'm a bit confused after i've seen the prices at candykeys, the novelties kit is 80 euros but only 62 dollars, while the base kits are basically the same in dollar/euro with 138/140. is this correct or a pricing error at candykeys?
edit: will the deskmat also be available at candykeys?
nice to hear, and about the deskmats, are you shipping them to germany? would be awesome to get one :thumb:
/edit: just checked your shop and 34$ shipping is too much sadly. gotta pass on these :(
Just joined for Git base, Cadet Alphas and Spacebars !
TheKeyLabs website is hijacking system scrolling, adding some strange latency. I don't know who owns the website but that is a Top Ten Do Not Do thing. I literally cannot select the kit I want, because the site scrolls either higher or lower.
Hey there, this issue was actually already on our radar - it's now fixed. Thanks so much for the feedback.

Smooth and perfect now! Thank you!
Lemme ask one thing:
In the latest revision, the base kit supports UK English (in ISO) layout, while the international kit is essentially a NORDE kit (AltGr keys seem to be missing from both kits, though). Is this going to remain so, and would it be worth considering adding an R4 \| key to the base kit so it will have full UK+US ISO support?
Thanks!
Pleeaaasseee have some way to include Core. I personally much prefer that over Deep Water.

Apologies if I'm mistaken, but I believe there should be a \| R4 in the bottom/additional key section of the base kit.
already said it in the IC, I would split numpad into a separate kit, that will bring down the cost even more and the majority is not using numpad anyways :D
Numpad belongs in base kit(in GMK sets at least) because:
- Unnecessarily splitting up kits with GMK is small brain because of their process increasing kit costs and the GB process being simplified with fewer kits
- Numpad is a relatively small number of keys and impact on overall kit pricing for those keys
- There is a fairly large number of layouts that can potentially use those keys: Fullsize, 1800, 96key, uk78, left handed variants of anything with a built in numpad, and then just any non-numpad layout with a separate numpad
- With a large potential percentage of buyers wanting it, having it in a separate kit raises the average paid cost for the set
- On a set that may have a harder time reaching MOQ anyway, if a separate numpad kit doesn't hit it can cause a significant withdrawal of base kit orders, what usually happens to orders with ISO kits
Overall I think keeping the numpad in the base kit is improving QoL of the GB process and having a minimal effect on those not needing the numpad while making significant difference for those who do need it.
Love that you have put ortho mods in the spacebar kit. I think this a good approach since it's just 4 keys; however, I would change up those legends. There's no consensus on Esc and Tab. They can either go on r2 or r3 - I've even seen some put a blank key for Esc on r4. Instead of having another pair of Esc and Tab, I'd consider changing them to the following:I agree, I'd much rather have 3 'novelty' legends then 4 escape keys and 2 tab keys. Part of me would still want a second 1u shift keys for symmetry, but this is a good solution
R2: Out
R3: Data or Read
Thanks to Carbon and Pulse these molds already exist.
And they'll def. exist after Voyage runs!
(Attachment Link)
I added both Data and Read, but only because I wanted to give another mod option and I'm not a fan of the typical '" going in the mod spot.
Cheers!
PS: I'd love to see an alternate alpha set for the lighter alphas. Most GBs that have extra alphas end up going this way instead of providing a whole extra base kit.
Will only purchase the original colored alphas. This saddens me. Also I wish the bright green spacebsrs came in 2u instead of only dark"Additionally, it was likely that the original Core would not hit MOQ as most people joining the GB opted for the darker kit instead of the original Core."

Good to have you back, Cap'n. Great to see ISO UK still in base too!
Kits are looking good, and it's great that you're responding to feedback.
Would love a lighter alphas kit, put my vote in into the poll :D

Even fi the light alphas come back, you won't be able to buy them anyway.
Just move on. Interest was checked and confirmed not sufficient.

I think I’ll voice my opinion when and where I want but thanks. And what do you even mean if the light alphas come back I won’t be able to buy them?
Sorry - I'm new to Geekhack and to group buying. I'm very keen to grab a hold of these though! I'm based in Asia but I can't find any info on them on the Asian distributor site, zFrontier. I would very much appreciate any help in terms of logging my interest and subscribing to the group buy!It will be listed closer to GB launch date
Thank you!
Thank you! Is there any way to be notified or you just gotta keep hitting F5?Maybe check out keylabs website

Gonna chime in here and also say I liked the light alphas.
I don't think it's necessarily valid to draw the conclusion that the dark alphas are overall more popular than the light alphas based on sales of the last time this opened.
If I recall correctly, the dark alpha set was cheaper and included fewer keys. Mainly, it got rid of a lot of the cruft that the main base kit with the light alphas had.
I know I personally did not join the GB for the light alphas because I didn't want to pay so much for a bunch of keys I would never use. I wonder if others were in the same situation.
I would love if two changes happened:
1. The Tab key in the extras moved to the base kit
2. A new "light alphas" kit came back, with spacebar and numpad support
With these changes, I could effectively build 2 keyboards by buying the base and alphas kit only.
In the way you had it setup before, you forced buyers to choose between dark and light alphas, which definitely cannibalized sales as you stated in the original post. With this approach, everyone has to buy a base kit. If someone just wanted light alphas in the base kit, they would have to spend more to get the base + alphas kit. But alpha kit purchasers have the ability to build 2 full keyboards, which makes the added cost more palatable.
Totally agree with the above. GMK Violet on Cream has done this with purple alphas and included numpad support and for 70$ despite custom colors. With the tab, this kit shouldn't be more than 80$.
Would selling alphas and mods separately be easier to include both color options? That way people can get both set of alphas and just one set of mods.

Regarding the original core kit, a few sets have been successful lately running an alternate alphas kit, but including enough extra modifiers that you can cover 2 keyboards if you buy the alternate alphas kit. That makes it a much better value, effectively 2 GMK sets with lots of compatibility for $125 each or less.

You must not have been around for the cancelled group buy which had two different base kits. It’s the reason it failed.
I’m not sure how viable waiting for less sets per month is.
At least we have some new information. I really don't know much about how GB's work but you would think a blockbuster set like this would be a priority. I just feel like the longer he holds off the harder it's going to be to get something scheduled and actually make it happen in a reasonable time frame. There are plenty of sets out there, but this just calls to me and I need it haha. I have faith, let's just hope its sooner than later. Thanks for these updates.
This set looks amazing!
However, i feel like the skull accent esc key does not fit the main theme of the set =\
I think the novelty esc key should be more related to sea life (like the fishbone or shark fin) and that the skull should be a secondary novelty key.
am i the only one who feels that way?

Agreed. There's too much vaguely nautical in the novelty kit for the amount of shark. The hammerhead enter key is amazing. If that were in base, I wouldn't need the novelties at all. As it is, it's an expensive novelty kit just to get the few shark keys.

I fully agree. If the shark fin novelty and enter key full hammer head novelty were moved to base, there would be zero reason to pick up the novelty kit IMO. Not that the other novelties are bad, but this kit is about sharks and not a “vague nautical” theme.
The other thing I’m still scratching my head on is how incomplete the 40s/spacebar kit is. You would need to pick up this extra kit for the four 1u left side ortho mods. Why not just move a lot of the non-standard sizes into a 40s kit?

Yessss. My prayers have been answered and NovelKeys too, hell yes! Thanks for doing this.
Also want to say I love the skull novelties... I do see the points about the shark keys though.. Maybe swap out or add to the novelty pool, I think some cannon novelties or shipwrecks could be cool.
I agree with the lack of shark elements in comparison to the amount of generic nautical novelties.
Btw what's the novelty between the fish bones and the shark fin meant to be?
Suggestions: A shark tooth. A silhouette of the front of shark jaw bones with teeth. A front on view of a hammerhead shark. A shark bitten surfboard. A simple shark on a 1u might be cool too

We've had many people ask the same thing - it's meant to be a shark jaw, but it definitely did not turn out as envisioned and we'll be dropping it from the final novelty kit as a result. Most likely in favor of a tooth!

I knew it was meant to be a jaw, but I definitely had to look at it for an extra few seconds at first. I agree a tooth would be much clearer.

I thought it was a bikini top for the longest time. Had a few people make fun of me for that one. ;D
As of now, the extras and euro kits have no proposed changes. Please give us your feedback here, at this point there will likely not be an overhaul of these kits but necessary changes can be made.An ISO enter novelty would be really nice, there's a bit more room on that key for a nice hammerhead shark :)
All, just updated the main post with latest round of changes. Lots of people in both this thread and our feedback form were worried that the set drifted too far from the shark theme, and frankly we agree. This round of changes is largely aimed at bringing down the price of the novelties kit, as well as focusing the theme a bit.

The proposed novelty changes are definitely going in the right direction. I would be okay if you also cut the birds, the pipe, and whatever the icon is between the shark fin and the fish hook.
I also like the shark tooth icon that has the blank space running through the middle.

I think the icon between the fin and the hook is meant to be a captain's hat?
But yeah, i would also be okay in dropping the birds, pipe and hat if it can lower costs.

That’s where my mind is at with this. I want to pick up the novelties with this kit, but a $60 novelty kit (making up a number here) is a tough pill to swallow. I think less overall novelties, but novelties which strengthen the core theme at a reduced cost (say $35) is definitely the way to go to help hit MOQ. I have always had the perspective with novelties that the average enthusiast picks up novelties to use like 3 or 4 of them (this is anecdotal evidence, I understand that you, dear reader, may use more).
Anyone else have thoughts here on this?
I'd keep the shark tooth, the shark fin, the hammerhead keys, and drop everything else. It's trying too hard to cover an entire function row. I'd also like to see an R3 PgUp and R4 PgDn added back into the base kit for better 65% support.
I'm seeing GMK Hammerhead available for Group-Buy on CandyKeys.com right now, but no other websites really.
Very small orders have been placed, so this could be the beginning of the rollout? Or a mistake?

This was from the earlier group buy which got stopped / delayed.
Candykeys seems to be implying on Instagram that this is coming to GB
Didn't see Pantone 536C used in the set, maybe I am missing something?

Will be in for both dark and light! Very excited. Here is a render as a fan of this set. Under dim lighting (with Pantone codes you provided)

I think they’re 1 1 2 3 4
because the backspace sized key is the second row and the enters in the 4th, and the 40s size scuttle splits them.

Woohoo, where do you see that?
Runner, please consider replacing the second pair of 1u Ctrl and Alt keys, which aren't commonly used, with the far more useful R3 PgUp and R4 PgDn keys needed by 65%/75% users. In fact, two 1u Ctrl keys aren't used by any modern layouts outside of 40% boards, and two 1u Alts are only useful if there are two 1.5u Code keys as well, which there aren't in this set.
As it stands, the set is missing a R4 1.25u Fn key, which a lot of people need for 60%, 65%, 75%, TKL etc. boards. Consider changing Menu, a less frequently used key, to Fn. This shouldn't be an issue, as Fn is a versatile legend that can also work as a menu key, whereas the opposite isn't really the case. In fact, this is exactly what most sets do: they include Fn in their base kits instead of Menu.
Finally, since your set is using single-line Scroll and Num keys, please consider replacing the stepped Caps↲Lock legend with Caps, for a consistent single-line look across the board.
Based on previous experience with GMK, none of the above changes should affect existing quotes, as they are legend-only changes. If you still haven't received final quotes, though, you may want to consider dropping the numpad 00 and some of the extra ISO keys to help keep the cost of the base kit down.

We're looking at adding the additional PgUp/Dn keys now. I wasn't aware to the extent that newer sets were including these in base kits nowadays, but we agree.
As for the other points, I don't think we're going to make any additional changes with those legends. I take your points, but I think largely these things come down to a matter of opinion and I want to avoid making non-essential changes this late in the process.
Awesome, is GB coming in July!? So pumped for this one!

This is a positive development.
Also, any chance of ILUMKB as a vendor for SE Asia?

Sorry if this already has been brought up, but will there not be any ISO Enter novelty?

Unfortunately there won't be - a big focus for us with the kit redesigns was to try and keep the Novelties pretty lean, and unfortunately there wasn't a ton of demand for an ISO Enter novelty
Pricing for zFrontier is now added! Various vendor announcements should be coming shortly, waiting for final updated renders with last key additions :thumb:
oh nice prices, now the question is... light or dark version for a black keeb ._. hmm... so hard to pick
That novelty kit straight up hates tsangan and hhkb... I forget if any wkls support 1.25s so possibly wlks too
Do you guys have any Artisan collaboration plans for GMK Hammerhead?

Goes live at midnight for NovelKeys! Pretty pumped about this one. :)
Bought the dark base kit set + novelties + extras, so excited for this drop!I believe they said on discord it would be sometime around a week in, and group buy on the Keylabs site
Does anyone know when the artisan keycaps are supposed to be released and if it will be the same vendors? (ex. if i'm NA and went through Novelkeys, will the artisan keycaps be available there or should I be checking another vendor separately?)
Thanks!

Sweet! On the website there is 2 artisan sections, one with the crucible and a blank one. Does that mean there is another artisan coming or do they both refer to the shark tooth metal one?Bought the dark base kit set + novelties + extras, so excited for this drop!I believe they said on discord it would be sometime around a week in, and group buy on the Keylabs site

That's correct! Putting the final touches on and the group buy will be ready on our website ASAP. Since this is a new product for us we're going to act as the sole vendor, luckily since it's one keycap international shipping will be typical to our normal artisans.

We'll be having a raffle for our own classic resin artisans during the next week or two, I'll update with official artisan collabs once they happen as well!
This is a petition to add a Kraken novelty!
In the first post there is a code for it, paste that into your profile signature
You may have to expand the code button. It should be right at the bottom of the original post under Signature header. Click that code button and it will expand it.In the first post there is a code for it, paste that into your profile signature
Thank you. However, i don't see the code for hammerhead anymore on the 1st page.
