There will be a delay in producing these... I don't think Lightsaver V2 will be next in production after Orion V2. Maybe next year...they have other plans in mind. Sorry for the bad news. :(
This gb will probably start in the summer after orion's gb. Long way to go!
What are the blockers?
Ahh darn. Was hoping it somehow meant the acrylic part that goes on the side of the case. Need some of those for my viper
Forgive my ignorance. What would i need to assemble one of these, tools and processes involved.

You will need a soldering iron and some quality solder. Everything is pre-soldered excluding the switches. :thumb:

Yes. I am running the IC. Elton and Duck/TrueCustom will be running the actual GB.
Though I hope to become a name you can trust here on GH.
This is my first efforts. =)
Taylor is trustworthy enough to handle an IC :)
I'm in, but I need more photos of the Black LS and the Silver LS... I know there are a lot more owners out there that haven't posted photos in the LS Photo thread yet.
Would be awesome if you guys can post the Black LS with Classic Beige (BoW) caps!

this is v1 case btw
I'm interested but firstly before I get counted in, any changes in this round to the previous? Also, can I use like ansi 125 or ansi 150 with standard bottom row on it otherwise I'll just block the awkward start key.
EDIT: I answered my own questions by looking at the links. Im an idiot. I'd say I am interested.
EDIT2: New question: can I get like a 1.25u blocker in like grey. I think black or silver would look kinda weird if I got a grey keyboard...
Does anyone know if this layout is possible? That's 1.5-1-1.5-6-1.5-1.5-1-1 on the bottom row. I doubt it but I thought I'd ask.
EDIT: Actually, I think I figured it out. The closest I could get would be a 1.25-1.25-1.25-6.25-1.5-1.5-1-1 on the bottom row. It's a bit Frankenstein but it would be cool.
ik this is probably just me being pedantic, but do you guys consider layouts like the Lightsaver and TX1800 to be 'full size' as such?

Are the blockers $3.50 a piece, or do they come in a set of some quantity?
Are the anodizing colors finalized?? Been looking for a blue-grey case.

Yeah the price should be each.
Shipping:
Shipping will be from South Korea with EMS. Shipping cost will depend on your location. Each set weighs about --- kg with packaging, so you will be looking at row --- kg.

So was the weight ever listed anywhere? Crazy shipping cost might push me out due to the Canadian dollar already making this a squeeze...

We'll all have time. After we get appx 35-40 names on this list it's still a month or two before it can turn into a real GB, longer if Duck/Elton are already tied up.
We just made this thread to say, "YES WE NEED MORE LSv2!"
And with that...
YES, WE NEED MORE LSv2! [not me personally, but the world!]

As someone with feet in both camps, the eternal zomg redditards and lmfao geekwhack stuff gets really old, someone put a PSA up on both, its a group buy and besides the salty dude in ghostofharrys tai hao gb, everyone is pretty decent in pursuit of great keys and awesome boards. if you want more people who can contribute and you think reddit is a dead end, its your duty at the least to illuminate them and let them know that GH has quality stuff. /endrant
I guess what I was asking wasn't whether should be posted there, but rather would taylordcraig like to create the threads in those places? I'd be happy to post on reddit, but I feel awkward doing that when I'm not the one running the IC.im liking my 85g spring in clears.
Please don't flood this thread with any more discussion around the merits of posting in each place, lets get back to the topic at hand:
What switches are subjectively best on a LightSaver? Personally I've been wanting a 62g Clear board for a while, but I have a hard time tearing myself away from linear switches.
I use both and I don't understand why people need to bash so much (I'm guessing it stems mostly from the artisan cap controversy), but whatever, this is about LS v2. Honestly, posting this onto the main r/mechanicalkeyboard subreddit displaying some glamour shots and pricing would garner some more interest. This was literally the first board and layout that I saw a year ago which made me start to obsess over keyboards and want to throw all my non-existent money at it.A thread on Deskthority and reddit would probably get us quite a ways.
Probably not reddit.

I wasn't bashing reddit at all. Group buys are also usually the easiest way to convert people over anyways :))
Count me in for a full kit

Nearly every GB that isn't run through MassDrop or SP gets stomped on over at reddit.
Just look at every single post regarding any GB involving GMK keycaps. People try to explain how PBT is not necessarily better than ABS and then you get 10-20 people come in and spam stuff like... "Vortex makes PBT sets for 1/10th the price, these keycaps are a rip off," or stuff like "These keycaps cost more than my keyboard."
Reddit is great for casual browsing and for seeing pictures of keyboards but it's just that... a casual place to post keyboard stuff. It's not really a place for continual conversation or discourse. Unfortunately, this casual, non-committal atmosphere also cultivates a disproportionate amount of trolls due to the simple fact that a humorous jab at someone gets more upvotes than posting anything constructive.
Don't even get me started on Clacks and Bros... people over there are already attributing K3KC for the design of the BroBot V2 and of the Skull Clack. Just yesterday, I read someone posting about how great the"iBot design" is... /facepalm
In any case I'm one of the more active posters on /r/mk and I spend a lot of time scrolling through the sub. Both GH and /r/mk have their own strengths but I'm just worried that posting a GB that costs this much over there will only lead to frustration and anger.
Just so you guys know. Taylordcraig already posted it to reddit. It got only a few up votes and faded from the front page after only one day. Let's get this back on topic to get more interest.
it should support any mx switch.
Any reasons to get this over a redscarf96?

AFAIK rs96 only supports bottom row layouts. Ie no short right shift.
A thread on Deskthority and reddit would probably get us quite a ways.
saw this ic on /r/mechmarket, that was definitely a good idea to post it there :)
I'm definitely in on this if/when it does happen, I've been looking at kustoms for a long time now and Lightsaver is one of my favorite notable designs (and I've finally got the advance notice to start saving for once :)))

Is there a way to get only red scarfIII pcb and plate from taobao? Any links?
I'm so excited for this.
It is my favorite of all the custom keyboards.
And for some reason, I have always been away from the scene when there was a group buy for one.
Considering how many people have posted about this board in the LightSaver and Viper group buy threads, there's no way we won't make 30 :p
Only thing holding me back is the possible Orion GB. I want to see the cost and options before I make my decision between LSV2 and Orion :thumb:you aren't concerned with the vastly different layouts? i wish i had that kind of flexibility, would give me a lot more options wrt GBs
FYI leaning towards the LSV2, but you never know.
I saw this on reddit and am pretty entrigued but from what I can see its sold as a kit? So you would need to solder it right? We will have to see if Duck is willing to do assembly for some. Of course it will come at a price. They did it last time but I'm not sure if taylordcraig asked or not.
is this a service you can have done before it ships? dont really wanna pay so much for it then **** it up tryin to put it together
Of course I'm in. Put me down for 1 complete set. No assembly. Curious to see what colour options might be available this time around.
If Im not too late, I'd be interested in a black set.
If there is still a spot left definitely count me in for a full set pls!Plenty of space and plenty of time left! Glad you guys are joining!
I think my choice would be grey and also a couple of black blockers... xD
Thx killah! =)That was just copied from the original group buy thread about a year ago. I think we need at least 30 people expressing interest to even get Duck to consider doing another run of these, so the more the merrier!
I really hope the interest check ends up successful and this becomes a reality!
Would love to get my hands on a LightSaver!
The OP mentions 'There are only 30 units available' tho?!
So I hope I wasn't too late already... xD

Does anyone remember seeing any SA profile keys on a Lightsaver? Would that even be a good idea?Yeah bianco had Penumbra on his version 1 before. Check the media thread it's in there somewhere.
Does anyone remember seeing any SA profile keys on a Lightsaver? Would that even be a good idea?I'm planning on using the Hack'd By Geeks set on it if this group buy happens :D
Does the bottom row need to have the 1x key or can you have a standard bottom row layout? From the thread linked in the OP:
Anybody knows how the tilt angle (11 degrees) is on this compared to a Filco with its legs fully extended? Not so much of the numbers, but more of how similar/different do the tilt angles feel?
Plenty of space and plenty of time left! Glad you guys are joining!

Great! Thanks so much for running this GB and giving us this opportunity!
I've started playing with the idea of ordering from the Round 5a group buy for a new set to go with this. That violet and cream. It's fun using the keyboard layout editor to imagine how it will look with my preferred layout.

You need to hit a lot more than MOQ in the interest check. I would estimate the IC->GB conversion rate at 60%

TaylorCraig, if its ok with you, i'd like to put this up on DeskThority as well. You can if you are a member but like radio_killah said, i'd like to hit the 30 sooner rather then later and i think at least some of them would be interested.

will a layout like this http://goo.gl/0V5fLH (http://goo.gl/0V5fLH) be possible?
i'm thinking about getting the TA Set and a LS 2 and thought they'd be a perfect match with some cyan LEDs :)
Are you sure? PCB 'll support?I just looked through a bunch of v2 pictures and it should support everything on that layout except the short left shift. The PCB didn't have the holes to support it.
wandered into the thread.
yes, i had penumbra on my lightsaber before
as taylordcraig mentioned, if you have a wrist rest, it should be fine.
however, i prefer mid profile keys, now using gmk dolchShow Image(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-cEMXy-gjam8/VBagM32ShpI/AAAAAAAAJuQ/ZnvqY5yPNhI/s1600/DSC00934.jpg)
How does the metal plate work to accommodate all the different layouts? Will I have to choose when ordering the parts?
Also I didn't specify on my last post but I'm interested in a whole kit in black with some blockers too.
Just wish I had the money for one of these!Just save up! Join us! You know you want to ;) this won't be run for a bit anyways we still need a bit more interest.

We need moar interest. Come on guys! :thumb:
are you really purchasing three customs at once? that's a lotta money
I respectfully disagree, the longer we wait the more people we see who are really interested and not just jumping on the bandwagon. I've personally wanted a Lightsaver since the first time I came on geekhack and put money aside for it and all the fixings almost a year ago. This is something that its slightly less them common but doesn't come up too often. I too am in fort the TX1800 as well, but if it came down to it I'd rather we be patient and get the group together so we can be guaranteed its success.
The LightSaver is easily one of my favorite customs,
it's such a unique board with close to unlimited layout options! :thumb:
I went crazy playing around with layouts some more and its absolutely crazy

Its actually kinda hard to choose a LightSaver layout because there are just so many appealing options. xD
I'm still undecided, so I was testing what different arrow cluster locations could result in.
Its really interesting to play around with and I'm pretty sure there are still loads of cool layouts to be discovered that I haven't seen used before...

Yeah I'm not checking the thread every day because interest slowed to a grinding halt.
We need a MINIMUM of 30 orders, ACTUALLY PAID FOR.
From IC>GB we usually lose 15% or more.
I wont be bothering to contact Duck until we're at a solid 35-40.
Though elton and Duck BOTH know of this thread, and have possibly lurked it more recently than I've updated.
The OP and our count is kind of irrelevant. It's not that I don't care, just takes a bit of energy to come do this.
I'll be coming to grab new posts and add them to the list tomorrow. Trying to do some housekeeping this morning before work.
This gb will probably start in the summer after orion's gb. Long way to go!As long as it does happen :thumb: thanks Elton!

I see your point. I guess part of my worrying is also impatience :) I'm looking at this thread once a day but the OP is only getting updated once a week at most.
Yeah I'm not checking the thread every day because interest slowed to a grinding halt.
We need a MINIMUM of 30 orders, ACTUALLY PAID FOR.
From IC>GB we usually lose 15% or more.

At this stage, all you need to do now that you have said you are interested is to set aside some cash ready to pay once there are enough of us to convince the person making them that it's worth doing another round.

I am really contemplating in signing up for this one as well. Loved the Lightsaver at first sight. Problem is that I am an ISO guy (located in Sweden). Very unsure of the ISO possibilities on Lightsaver. I've been trying to research this but as I am very new to the mechanical keyboard game I am very uncertain. So pardon my elementary question; how are the ISO possibilities on this great custom keyboard?
Thanks in advance!
Interested in a full kit.
I'd definitely be interested in a full kit if there is still room for me!

No ISO I'm afraid, but you can get a Redscarf III PCB from Taobao, which has ISO, and drop it in a LS case, which is what I'm planning to do myself.

Im personally a recent Iso to Ansi converter since I prefer the looks of Ansi, and it seems to make shopping for keycaps a lot simpler, and its not really that hard to convert to from a German ISO layout at least imo.

Good suggestion. Cheers! Mmmmm. I hear you. It is just so hard to decide. If I choose to go with ANSI and not liking it... Well it will definitely hurt my wallet. Then on the other hand, I will have no problem selling the board. Argh! Why does it have to be so hard.
You definitely have a good point regarding hunting for key caps. Not converting to ANSI is more financially sound. Otherwise I would burn all my dough on key caps :-[
Still interested in a LightSaver V2 GB but not quit ready to commit at the moment. What I've gathered the GB will not be until after this summer anyway. So I have still some time in deciding whether I should pull the trigger on an ANSI keyboard.

does this KB support or for matter of fact any of the custom KBs support NKRO?Sure.
I will update the OP after lunch, I'm super hungry right now and being nagged out the door.

Haha sorry,
not that it makes any difference. It seems our thread has gained attention and there is a great possibility of another round happening, likely after orions! So rejoice, and I'll eventually update the OP I swear.

You can still have all the LEDs you want with RSIII though, it's got both on-board RGB LEDs and switch LEDs support. There are even two pairs of RGBs on either side that was specifically designed so that they will shine through the LED holes on the side of the LS case (haven't tried this myself, but someone asked on a Chinese forum, and the vendor confirmed that they were designed as such).
Switch LEDs can be switched on individually on RSIII as well, but AFAIK at this time it's only implemented for the caplock and numlock keys (you can choose where those keys sit, and they will switch on and off based on whether the locks are on) .

Iso vs Ansi wasn't an easy decision for me either, but its true that your wallet might hate you for going Ansi as you can pretty much pull the trigger on any keyset... xD
The redscarf3 PCB (as far as it looks) will most definitely support LEDs btw so you wouldn't loose out on the in switch LEDs if you solder some in there.
It seems like it even features rgb LEDs to illuminate the acrylic bottom of the redscarf below the pcb simiular to GONs, but idk how well that may work for illuminating the acrylic side parts of the LightSaber if they will end up being available this time around. It could probably be adapted tho so no need to miss out on LEDs! =)

RS3 PCB is only about $50usd after proxy costs. There are links in the GB thread to the taobao listing.
Just got into mechs and as with a few others in this thread, this is the first kb that I've come across that I _have_ to have. :) Count me in on a full-set!
:)) Very excited about this one!
btw: this IC made me sign up!
Ok everyone, I have a dumb/noob question here:
What would I require in addition to the full kit here to have a fully functioning keyboard that can be used? I didn't see any mentions of key switches or key caps, so Im assuming those are all extras to be supplied yourself?
Is there any options for pre-assembled? I'm in a new location and don't have access to my tools.Well this group buy won't start until probably late summer so you have a couple months to get your tools. But as of right now there is no assembly option.

The pcbs come presoldered but besides the case, plate, and pcb. You must provide everything else. Switches, anything to mod the switches, leds, keycaps, usb cable, etc.
Is there any options for pre-assembled? I'm in a new location and don't have access to my tools.
I'd be willing to assemble up to maybe 3 keyboards at most for free if you or a couple others if you wouldn't be getting this keyboard because of it.

I am an ISO user as well, but I was willing to go full ANSI for a lightsaver. I was unaware of the RS3 option. I am still most likely picking up a whole lightsaver set, because ANSI keycaps are so much easier to get, but I am interested in my options.
What would I lose out on by buying a RS3 PCB and a Lightsaver Case, as opposed to Lightsaver everything. Are there things the lightsaver PCB can that the RS3 can't? Is one of a higher quality?
Also, I am a bit of a noob and I am not sure what a "plate" is, and whether I can use a lightsaver "plate" with an RS3 PCB.

What's the latest on this? Would love to see it make it to a GB sometime soon. It's already been said that if it were to get enough attention it would start after the orion v2 run finishes.
Any chance for a case that's not so steep?Nope. You would need to go buy a case for something like the Chinese red scarf 3.
We will just have to see how much people really like the lightsaver design. 4 months from now is a long time...

Unfortunately nothing can be done as Duck is doing other GBs. We gotta wait. We're just lucky there is a possibility of a R2!
Might be interested in a second one if I ever figure out how program the keymap using something other 02D's software...Check out the Octagon thread. Whizzard and tjweir have some really good explanations for how to use the O2D software. O2D really needs to fix their software it's one of the hardest to use out of the custom keyboard firmware up loaders

You'll have to cross me off the list. Sorry guys.
Recently I've been less and less interested in the LS layout, and the Orion V2 hit me like a brick, so that's where my keyboard fund went.
Good luck, the Lightsaver deserves more attention.
Lightsaver Layout, with 7° acrylic bottom case would be a pure dream! :thumb:Why not a 7° aluminium bottom case :D

Lightsaver Layout, with 7 acrylic bottom case would be a pure dream! :thumb:Why not a 7 aluminium bottom case :D
Because I was referencing the ORION (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=70864.0) which has a 7 Acrylic bottom in addition to a 11 Aluminum version, as I mentioned.
The Acrylic bottom imo also adds a lot to the aesthetics, and generally seems to be a cheaper option compared to aluminum.MoreShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/uJDvSsi.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/82TWykX.png)
So eventually cutting down cost, while improving looks and offering a 7 option seems like a all around win to me! ;)
Acrylic is cheap, and I don't just mean cost. Check out the RS3 though, sounds like you might like that more.
@orionv2. I think it's over already.
I posted earlier in the thread, but I'll post again since I can afford it now.I don't think it will be available in purple but oh man would that be cool...
Count me in. I want the black, but if it becomes available, i'll definitely take Purple.
Hey guys, this Interest checker still going at the moment for the board?Yup if there is enough interest it will launch sometime after the orion v2 run.
Thanks.

@orionv2. I think it's over already.
I'm familiar with the red scarf III.
However I don't understand how one can compare the simple, flat layered case of the rsIII with the orion v2 example which would be a milled aluminum top on a (less but still angled) milled acrylic bottom.
I would agree that the rsIII looks cheap, but as far as I understand, you pretty much implied acrylic always looks cheap? ('Acrylic is cheap, and I don't just mean cost.')
Honestly I would very much disagree that the acrylic aluminum combo will always looks cheap, and Orion to me would be a great example of that.
(Even the Lightsaver, and the orion aluminum bottom, are designed to feature acrylic side inlays as you probably know)
I would choose Lightsaver over rsIII anytime and I was kinda offended you suggested I might prefer rsIII tbh.
Thanks for that TC, whats the current count or there abouts? I'm in no rush as I've said before. Let the Orion boys have their fun you know. Also thanks again for keeping us in the loop.
Love, love the layout, not so sure about the aluminum casing (just a personal preference).
Is it possible to get frosted matte cases (ie. Orion v2) made (general question, not necessarily asking for part of the group buy)?? Where would I find somewhere to do that?
Also interested, would also be looking for someone in the Vancouver BC area who has switches/would be able to assemble it for me.

Check out the chinese version called the Red Scarf 3.
I'll update the op in the next few days. We're sitting around 40 even with the dropouts. I'm sure it's garnered enough interest to warrant a buy. That said it's up to when they have time to do it. Imagine a few months after Orion is complete.
Aside from the RS3 Duck has actually made 3D files for an acrylic case for the lightsaver. Way way back in the day. I can't be bothered to find the link right now, but you could get them cut locally and have a certified Duck acrylic case for your lightsaver.

Does anyone want to buy just the aluminum case when the group buy happens? ;D Haha.

I don't have any experience with CAD tools and models but I opened the acrylic case file online and all I could see is the 2D drawing shown on the site you linked.
Do I have to download a proper viewer to see the full information (measurements, I suppose, and in 3D) or is the file missing information?
Sorry for the dumb questions.

All of the pieces of the acrylic kit are 2d. It's built in layers, typical of acrylic cases.
It's different than the 11 degree, CNC'd aluminum bottom.
This is not the GB but a different option that was produced at one point in time.
Since Duck didn't plan on making it any more he made the files available in case someone wanted to have one produced locally.

Hi!
We are all wanting to buy it. ;D
The maker of the keyboard will hopefully be doing a group buy for us later this year.
I'm talking out of my ass but I guess September.
There will be a delay in producing these... I don't think Lightsaver V2 will be next in production after Orion V2. Maybe next year...they have other plans in mind. Sorry for the bad news. :(Right in the feels. :(

Possibly a Duck 1800? :cool:It would also be a nice alternative to the Lightsaver. Though kin is doing one right now. :\
1800s seem to be all the rage these days.
Wow I am absolutely gutted. When this IC first went live I really thought a GB might be in progress by now.

The orion is still happening right now.
From the beginning I've been nothing but transparent about the orion happening first.
I got the IC up so "early" because people were clamoring before Thanksgiving that they wanted another run.

Viper 2 (Falcon) maybe? The difference is the asymmetrical bottom blockers (like HHKB) as the original one is symmetrical. I heard it will come with a track point like Lenovo keyboards. I guess this not becoming a reality so soon is a blessing in disguise. Makes time for some people to save up.
Maybe since we are waiting so long can we can have an exclusive GH color option?
Interested.
extremely interested in silver kit
I can only hope it is a delay, I love that Duck is still cranking out new versions of things, im sure the Lightsaver will be revisited at some point.
Will be deregistering my interest in this thread. Just picked up a LSV2 from Classifieds.Oh Grey LS?
Yes that one.Congratls, man !

I'm unreasonably excited. LSV2 is one of my dream keyboards. I'm planning on putting an OG Desko set w/ GMK modifiers, paired with vintage MX Blacks on the keyboard.
Also, for any that are interested. Sherry @ Originative (yes I know he's extremely unreliable), seems to have LSV1's in stock at his store.

It's an interest check, not a group buy, and if you would read the previous posts you would see that the group buy is being delayed until other projects are completed.

Actually it is on hold indefinitely :(
I've just sold my viper as I plan to get in on the next lightsaver buy! I hope there won't be any drastic changes though, not a fan of the Orion V2.I hope you noticed that this is indefinitely on hold and won't happen for a while

I posted a thread about the LSv1 on Originative a couple weeks back on great finds, since he has been shipping lately.
I guess no one has actually followed up on purchasing one though..
SOMEONE TAKE THE RISK, I'M CURIOUS!

i've ordered some expensive stuff from them before, during the hype of the "don't buy from them" thing, and I got my order fast and in good shape. they are not quite amazon, but like any other small scale online vendor, be cautious and make sure your payment method has some type of protection.

my keyboard journey's taken a lot of twist and turns in the last few months, and now the Lightsaver has become my most desired board. so i'd like to register my interest for a full set regardless of the waiting time. though if this is delayed for another 8-9 months i wonder if Duck will just make a LSv3 instead. perhaps a return to the v1's bezel, and layered housing like the Orion instead of an unibody?

Thank you for the reassurance, I bought it on my credit card, so I should be alright in case things go awry

Any update? Has he shipped yet?
I like the feeling of hefty Aluminum case :cool:me too, but layered housing allows for two toned case colors, and it also makes it that much easier to powercoat/reanodize half the housing instead of the entire case

Shipped this afternoon!
dont get to excited guys, LSv2 isnt happening until Orionv2 is done. which it is not yet.
Sorry, don't get me wrong. I just meant to express how much I am looking forward to a lightsaver. You've been very clear in what you've said. I've just been madly optimistic that Orion would finish soon (I wasn't really following that thread).
Duck was very nice and replied to me!His next GB is going to probably be Viper and Eagle v2 with touchpoint nipple
"thanks you for like my light saver.
I have to plan about lightsaver G.B geekhack.
but not now T.T"
I guess that is good news (in that he seems to be planning future LS) and bad news (not right now).
So I have no soldering skills or kit, or space to solder... How do I get one of these assembled, or is that not possible?Well, actually, you can h

it will be octagon 2 according to what i've been told
For serious?the rumor is that Duck himself mistakenly posted some sort of render/mockup of the new octagon here. it was deleted soon enough but not before the person whom i conversed with caught wind of it.
Fuuuuuuuu--
Well, guess I'll be getting that! :thumb:
EDIT: If you are correct though, I must say that it's a little soon considering the Octagon release is less than a year old. He must really have some ideas for it. Maaan.

Not to derail this thread, but do you have any of those renders saved? I'm way curious to see what the differences are between the current Octagon and the next generation concept. If not, that's fine. :thumb:
would a trackpoint require a custom key set to accommodate it?
An alternative would be the Redscarf III on taobao
LSv2 has ledges on the back legs and supports small-shift/arrow layoutAn alternative would be the Redscarf III on taobao
Is it possible to order internationally from Taobao? And what's the difference between the LSv1 and LSv2?
would a trackpoint require a custom key set to accommodate it?
That, or some very precise drilling/sanding/milling and not being afraid to forever alter the caps you want on the board. It seems like at least one edge or corner if not multiple have to be modified. On the TEX Yoda, the B key has a concave top section to allow for the nub.
Best bet would probably finding boards that used trackpoints that you could source from. I could be wrong though.
Despite potentially massive delays, I'd like to submit my interest in buying a set, specifically just the PCB (and controller ofc) if possible.

If you're just looking for the PCB get a Redscarf3. This GB is almost indefinitely delayed due to duck just working on other stuff.

Yeah. It seems like he's moved on from the v2. To be honest, when he's done with the Orion v2, the Octagon v2 and whatever else he has in mind, he'll likely have a Lightsaver v3 ready to go.
I can only wildly speculate but I think you may be right. Lightsavers will happen eventually, and hopefully we get the option for different cases.
Skidata+ should be rolling this week, possibly even today. ;)
no matter what duck project next..
will it be lightsaver or octagon

I'm with you on that. Whatever comes out, I'm buying it, twice.
i'm still not sold on the led indicators. maybe if they're spaced further apartShow Image(http://kbdlab.co.kr/files/attach/images/340/247/104/003/1dbc68a5129cd8beeb68b3746be26303.jpg)

Lightsaver v3, count me in! The octagon looks really good but I'm not that big of fan of 75% layouts.

I love seeing everyone's preferences, haha.
The Lightsaver and Orion are great looking designs, but I'm not a fan of either layout. The Lightsaver looks amazing, but is impractical for me as I prefer standalone num pads. The Orion looks really neat and I've built one for someone already, so I've gotten to see one in the flesh, and they are really nice, but TKL just isn't my layout.
The Octagon is the one true board for me, I'd say. :P
I'm surprised the Eagle/Viper isn't getting an update! Oh well, fine by me! Since I have two Eagle PCBs I plan on using for my hotswappable Alps builds. Now I don't have to worry about feeling out of date for quite a while. :PP
Lightsaver lightsaver LIGHTSAVER. :b
It's so hard to get this layout right now. If I wanted a 75% I can easily find a KBT Race or Keycool 84, but a lightsaver is what my jimmies are truly tremulous for.

Sure you could buy a KBT Race or Keycool 84 but the quality doesn't even come close, that is whats so special about kustoms. :)No doubt! But at least the option is there to try the 75% layout if you wanted to. And it is a very useful layout that deserves good custom builds. :)
Eh, I don't really care about what's hard to get. I care more about what's optimal for me, lol. I will admit that I'm not a fan of OEM anything aside from old vintages, so customs or DIY is all I go for.
Your priorities are your own though, whether its out of rarity or practicality or some mixture of the two. The Lightsaver is lovely aesthetically, but number pads that are sutured to the board whether left or right handed seem silly to me. Especially right handed numb pads. Just my opinion though. :)

I do a sizable amount of number entry, to the point that I have my USB numpad next to my 60% all the time when I'm working, which sort of betrays the nature of the Pure's existence on my desk. :P I just want to be able to try out this grafted form factor so badly, but my options are slim.
Sorry I know this thread is older than my mom
Sorry I know this thread is older than my mom but has anybody heard ANYTHING?
It always seems little LS was always the next board in the production line. First after Orion 2, then after octagon 2, now I've seen the blackbird renders which frankly do not interest me even nearly as much as LS2. I'm starting to loose hope that these will happen again.
I've PMed elton and wrote Duck an email personally. Last time (about 7 months ago) he replied after a few days to say that LS was planned but 'not right now', that was during Orion v2 AFAIK
