[IC] - G80-3700 Plates
« on: Thu, 28 August 2014, 09:21:31 »
Should be getting a 3700 soon so I'll need a plate. Anyone else interested?

Can it be made to work with the other number pad that's about to start floating around?

Barring that, Could using this plate let me build a smaller, slimmer 3700 that takes up less desk space than what it takes up now?

...in which case, yes I'm interested. Anodized 7075 if you want to go exotic -- but 304SS would be fine too.

Forgive my ignorance, but how would a plate work on these units?

I would like to understand too, as I recently got myself a G80-3700.

This thread shows it pretty well

And The_Beast can comment on this as well but some modding may be required per this post

I mean, there's no flex on these units. Aside from being able to use plate-mount switches, whats the advantage?

Or is this a "because we can!" kind of thing. Which I fully support.

Since it's a small board, the flex isn't too too noticeable. But the feel of the plate is nice IMO

Case modding is required. It's two 1/2" slots you have to cut. You can see it here in the plastic that separates the esc and the numberpad

I'm in for 2.  As long as they have the switch top removal notches.

Do I do it any other way?

Price depends on quantity, but my guess would be somewhere around $15-$20 without shipping

Bah, I should start an appreciation thread for plateless blacks D: though if you put something like clears or green then the plate is probably worth it

I found an extra 3700 plate when I was looking through my keyboard stuff. But it seems like there is still enough interest in this to run.

I would buy two of these, as long as they're notched and made for easy-switch mods :)

Thanks for running the IC, hope it becomes reality.
