What's the deal here? I'm guessing those random metal parts anodising samples? Do you have any more pics of the completed board? Does it take a standard 60% PCB?

Yes, these are samples and the purple one is the final sample. I haven't built that one yet since it's being given to a friend of mine to build it on stream. It does support any standard 60% pcb.

In the original IC thread, you showed a sample of available colors. Is this buy limited to the four on the GB form, or can I pick from the color swatches you showed in the IC thread?

So far we have only 5 spots sold. But after talking to the factory I have until mid to late February to sell all the spots. I will keep promoting it over reddit and any other ways that I can. A buddy of mine just built his that I sent to him and his picture should be up very soon.

Just found you on here too, asked you a few questions over on reddit posts...  I'm close to pulling the trigger on this.

Can you show an image of the back where the USB cable plugs in? also a picture of what the inside of the anode looks like? Does the PCB mount to the bottom? I'm planning on doing hot-swap switches and read that plate-mount only isn't the best for that. Will it support USB-C cables? I have lots of questions because I'm new to this, and I've learned that there is wisdom in asking as much as possible before buying.  I've already made a few mistakes in layout etc...  :-[

Was thinking that the purple would look nice with GMK Plum and/or GMK Hyperfuse Remix

Thanks

You can just fill another form and I can combine it manually. It will just be +$10 more. So if you're in the US it will be $40 to ship both.

We are getting closer but I still need to sell more spots. Were at 7 spots sold so far but I will buy the rest if we don't make it since I will make this GB happen.

Trying to get a friend on board to get another case together and save bit of shipping; hasn't panned out yet  :(  I'm being as persuasive as I can...

Question:  Is the Red Wine case color similar to the red keys that come with GMK Plum?  Or would it at least compliment that set well?

The gmk plum is a bit different compared to the wine red, so i would not try to match them.
Gmk burgundy/dolch R01 should be a better match.

Actually I think a bit more thought could go into publicity (edit the OP):
What are your inspiration when it comes to the case design?
What are some real life shots / renders of the color options of the full keyboard not shown?
You mentioned you found 2 great anodizing shops, what are your experiences / judgements on why you think they make great anodizing?
What trademark features does the case have? (Can be an elaboration of the specs)
I think we would also appreciate more sound tests at a high quality audio and video!

Update: Chinese New Year is finally over and spots are still available. Estimated time frame of getting the cases anodized and shipped is late March or early April. All cases have already been made. Due to some reasons I plan on leaving the hobby right after the GB so I just want to sell all the spots and don't really want to make money and just sell all the boards. The price is set to $230 including pp fees.

So for anyone interested in how everything screws in or looks taken apart here are some pictures. The weight screws in to the bottom, the plate screws in to the top piece and the bottom and top piece screw in together.

Also here are some pictures of the cases already made and just ready to be anodized by the shop.

I did think about getting a rose gold color. I am giving the shop some pantone colors right now so there is a possibility that I will do a rose gold which actually was the Pantone 55-9-c

Just paid my invoice! Got a notification from paypal saying "After an initial review, we found that your payment may not be in agreement with our Acceptable Use Policy. Because of this, we need to put this payment on hold until we can make sure it meets our requirements." just fyi. May end up not being a problem, but just figured you might want to know in case other people have similar issues.

Don't worry about that. My paypal does that with any invoice that I make no matter the amount of money. It will clear up in a day or two.

Hello, I would like to update everyone on the GB. The order for anodizing has just been submitted and will be starting this week. There are spots still available in case anyone else is interested. I'll update again once I receive pictures from the shop.

I really like the deep ocean color but decided against it because I just have too many other things coming in right now. Need to let the bank account cool off a little. Maybe Tes will design a v2 one day with a pen holder divot  :p

Very cool!  How do you use a .step file?  Can AutoCAD open it?  Or just upload it to a site like Laserboost?

Yeah I went through laserboost. They were pretty helpful for figuring out stuff like oath length etc.

I was able to pull it into AutoCAD but the measurements are off.  I've got it set to mm as default units; the switch holes are measuring .05512  Looks like it's stuck in imperial.  Trying to figure out how to get it to metric; makes things much easier

Added a layer of adhesive sorbothane to the plate.  Anyone know how to get rid of the discoloration from the brass weight?  It doesn't just wipe off.

Nice! I also added MK Ultra's foam to mine. I also added super thin layer of shelf-liner between the PCB and bottom to ensure it didnt short the switches.

I havent tried to clean off the marks from the brass on mine yet, but there are LOTS of brass cleaners and polishers out there. Just make sure you take the brass off before cleaning, because it could hurt the anodized aluminum. Or you can leave it and over time it will patina and age and get more personality.

Did you have to provide a drawing for the foam from MK Ultra?  The dxf file that was provided earlier doesn't match the plate we got exactly.  I'd be interested in MK Ultra's stuff.  Cutting that sorbothane with an exacto was a pain!!!!

I used the 60% ANSI foam. The top/upper version doesn't have standoff holes and fit perfectly. The only issue I ran into was having to compress the plate and pcb while soldering on my switches so that they werent too thick to fit back on the case.

Finally got it all together.  Really like the way it feels and sounds.  Zeal60 with 3203 lubed Zealios 78g

I had to clip the stems from the switches that lined up over the brass weight screws and cover the screws with electrical tape; it was shorting out those switches; stems were puncturing black tape before I clipped them.

Just an FYI if anyone else runs into that.

What do you mean by "stems" of the switches? Do you mean the contact legs that you solder or the pcb moun pegs?

And this only applies to the switches that are above the weight screws?

Yes, the legs of the switches that get soldered to the PCB.  I didn't know the proper vernacular.  And it only applied to the ones that came in contact with the brass weight mounting screws.
