Got the Unicomp 122 today

It's pretty cool, some of the keys are moved around which is weird but kind of fun too.  I like how home is in the middle of the arrow cluster though.  The feel is smooth, a lot smoother than my XT keyboard and the sound is a lot more dulled in comparison, the XT is a really pingy sounding keyboard and this is not at all.  It's got 2 piece keycaps too which is cool!  The shift, caps lock, backspace and enter keys aren't though.  XEV doesn't see the F13-F24 keys at all or the |<-- key which is disappointing. =[

Thanks for the photos and info.

Is that the metallic gray keys like they use on their black Customizer keyboards?  It looks like they might be but hard to tell for sure from the photos.

I saw a couple of these listed on ebay, they're interesting looking boards. I would have bought one if they had a different enter key. Are all of those extra keys programmable? How does it compare to an older M?

Not sure if they are programmable in windows, xev in linux does not show the F13-F24 producing any key codes.  I've only used one Model M before and it was for like 5 seconds so I can't compare them, sorry.

It's a pretty quirky keyboard and a damn steal at under $40 IMO.

Good info, do the two left rows of special keys work?

The color and size of these boards really look like something out of a serious machine, far more substantial than the industrial model Ms.

Would you consider posting an audio clip in the media section? Also, why not write up a proper review? I find weird boards like these fascinating.

I did a quick search on google, and they sell for $125 new here: http://ioconnections.com/productdetail.aspx?id=413
It goes by the name of "BOSaNOVA 122-key keyboard"

There's some linux-specific info here: http://www.linuxdevices.com/articles/AT2108424310.html
And windows drivers here: http://www.brothersoft.com/free-122-key-keyboard-driver-138279.html

leftmost keys

Esc | Pause
Pause | End
nothing | nothing
Super_L | nothing
Menu | nothing

for the part above the arrow keys

nothing | Prior | Next
End | Multi_key (Insert) | Delete

numpad

Super_L (scroll lock, shifted gives me Pointer_EnableKeys) | KP_Divide | KP_Multiply | nothing
the rest are the same but when I hit shift it puts them into non-numlocked' mode

I still can't tell for sure.  They don't look gray in the photos, but they don't exactly look gray when looking at them on the Customizer keyboard in person, either.

In photos, they often take on a pearl colored look.
