Zowie 2016 Mouse Recall
« on: Thu, 21 January 2016, 12:25:24 »
Those contemplating buying the new 2016 Zowie mice: the company has issued a recall notice:

http://zowie.benq.com/news/8/zowie-mice-recall-announcement

This affects all of their product lines. It appears there were problems with the Omron switches, and apparently they are reverting to Huano switches.

Yes, I also. I wanted to try out the new EC1-A. However, given the delays and uncertainties with Zowie mice, I am going to scratch them off my list and make my selection from among the Razer Deathadder, Mionix Naos 7000, or Mionix Castor.

As much as people diss Razer. I like the deathadder.

Just a tidbit though, their stupid bloatware patch crap that's on it, is annoying as hell.

I am thinking about going to a roller ball.

I was also wondering about replacing my deathadder with a zowie since I have the double click problem on the left click. But seeing this makes me want to wait a little more before getting a new mouse  :(

I do like most razer mice, not a big fan of the software though, if i dont go with zowie when i get a new mouse im probably going to look into a heavier weight mouse, maybe something i can palm grip. Maybe a logitech G400, a roccat , or another corsair mouse, though id get an older model. I've really liked my M95

I'm still hesitating between the zowie FK and the new ducky mouse, damn  :( Btw I don't really like logitech mouse, not a big fan of the design, I prefer mice that looks like deathadder/Fk, and also I don't need 99 buttons on a mouse

Just as I was considering one for their Omron switches, too. And they're reverting?  :( The switches are too fatiguing as they are.

I have a 2015 Zowie ZA11 with Huano switches and I really enjoy it. It's nice to have a mouse with a stiffer click than what Omron offers, especially since I don't do any activity that requires constant clicking. As an added bonus, you could grab Zowie 2015 mice without BenQ branding at a decent discount because they're EOL (for Canadian users: http://www.canadacomputers.com/search_result.php?checkVal0=1&checkVal1=1&checkVal2=0&subcat220=21&checkVal3=1&pagePos=0&keywords=&manu=0&search=1&ccid=279&cPath=21_279)

I found the ZA series with Huanos to be so stiff that I lost my **** when I discovered they were refreshing their lineup with Omrons. It's unfortunate that they're having such a huge problem.

Funny that, my Zowie FK1 (bought in 2014) middle mouse button is starting to randomly double/triple+ click when I press it once.

zowei cs sucks

I have a fk1 from release and it started double/tripple clicking 3 months ago. Zowie told me to call the original vendor for a replacement but they denied a replacement as it was almost a year old. Then zowie wanted me to send it to them for repair. They claimed I damaged the mouse and were unable to fix it. I got it back and decided to fix it myself. They didn't even open the dam mouse as there was debris inside the mouse that would've fallen out if zowie opened the mouse. The contact inside the switch was slightly bent(too much use?) causing it to register more than once. I just straightened the thing and now works fine only with a slightly lighter click. It's a shame this happened I really like the mouse and its the only one that fits my hand perfectly but I am extremely reluctant to purchase from them again.

Same here, the FK1 is goddamned amazing. The lack of acceleration and it's 1:1 feels real gooood.

Was considering getting on of the new FK1s to compare vs my older FK1 that I bought in Nov 2014... Maybe not anymore, not sure if I want to buy another of the older model off amazon or wait for them to put the new model with the regular switches up as the Black/Red looks nice.

Do they still use optical sensors on their scroll wheels? Its the only thing I really dislike on my Zowies, the tactile feedback of the scroll is terrible. Its the same thing that bothers me on logitech mice.

I've been considering stocking up on the old FK1 because it's the perfect mouse for me. I love the size and weight and I've never had a problem with the sensor.

OMG, the bloatware F**** sucks. I actually prefer the legacy drivers for my 3.5.

My ideal mouse would be a Deathadder with a thumb rest and some material that doesn't get sweaty.

My deathadder looks really weird next my Model M.

Damn, just noticed this.  Looks like the ECA-1 is off the list for now.  Pity, too, as I just returned a Deathadder (not tall enough).  Looks like I'll just try the Rival 300 next.

I have an OG Zowie AM that I've been using for years. I got it from Newegg (can't remember exactly when) so early that I distinctly remember there were no reviews on it yet. It has huano switches. The mouse just keeps trucking. It works perfectly and I plan to replace it eventually with a Logitech G Pro. It's definitely been my all time favorite mouse.
