What's in a name?
Today is my birthday - August 16 (same as Madonna). I am forever amazed at how deeply my personality reflects typical characteristics of the astrological sign I was born under; I am Leo to the third degree according to the Book of Birthdays, Sun in Leo and something else too. One of my dearest friends in High School, who also shares the sign and a love of CS Lewis books, presented me with an original watercolor painting of a tiger under a tree as a graduation gift. It also bore this dedication in calligraphy: Following the Lion- Always walk through life like the tiger you are-- "Never a tame lion..." (I've not been known for being particularly quiet or reserved in general.)
Many of my early e-dentities were directly derived from that, "ftlion", usually as username and since I didn't trust leaving my real info everywhere, the name "advocatus leonibus" was usually used as the "real" info since it also shared my real initials as well as the flavor of my spirit as an outspoken individual and the nature of the King of Talking Beasts. Occasionally this also was condensed into a username: LionsAdvocate, lionsadvocat or simply AdVoCat.
There came a significant shift when I started finding ways to hack my cell phone for the purpose of adding ringtones and games via "howard forums" and I adopted the e-moniker "voxleo" which was related to the Audiovox cell phone that I loved enough to buy eight of (due to failed experiments in the hacking of same as it had a notoriously fragile file system - but, thankfully, they were going for as little as 5 bucks on ebay) until the time when the Razr V3xx took its place. I found the name to have a nice double layer to it and it is still one that I use but it tends to be sometimes confused with one "Vox_Leo" from Singapore who is somewhat well known via their blog. So here was actually one of the first instances of the slight variation which I think is a little softer and smoother en francais si vous plait.
There may be a future iteration in that I have just learned that the Danish/Norweigan for "lion" is "love" (where the o has a line through it, but I don't know how to make the character on the keyboard- yet). Very significant since my actual given name is Chinese: love + bright, pure, true, or clear, bell.
And now I am properly screwed if I should ever be investigated for anything since this is the first place that has tied all those identities together. Damn you!
