i know there's another thread for this but, for the sake of simplicity, will these be sold in kit form post beta testing?

I don't have a case for it yet nor do I know what switches I want in it. I need those things first. Luckily, it's through hole diodes :D.

As many as you need.  :)  Just need to figure out where you will put the function keys.  I have 2 function keys for different layers planned for my layout.  A lockable one and an 'on the fly' one...

I hope the group buy has a couple different case options. Are there any 40% boards from the Korean forums? This size could make quite a splash there if not.

ok sorry for the bad pic, ive had this about an hour and just wanted to get a snap

im gonna use it as my primary board for a week or so and give a better review, but as some of you may have seen from my typing style, this board should suit me perfectly, my initial impression however were great, took to it right away and even more happy with it than i thought i would be, sadly i havent had a chance and wont have a chance to have a really good go on it until tonight, but its certainly getting a big thumbs up from me

There are going to be a lot of different function layers uses on this board.  I already have 3 or 4 different function layers that I want to try.  I may even put two different function layers on mine.  One press and hold fn layer and one toggle fn layer.  We will see what feels the most comfortable once I build mine...

Figure I might as well post the progress I have made so far.  Tonight I clipped, lubed, stickered and removed jumpers from 40 black switches.  That is some painstaking ****.  I am a whole lot better at it now, but I am not nearly as excited to get into the next 350 switches I have to do.  Oof...  The super fine tweezers earned their keep tonight.

I will probably get to soldering it up tomorrow (hopefully).

51997-0

Oh ya, used SIP sockets for the caps lock led so the switch top can still be removed...

Maybe a silly question..

If there's two layers of FN on certain keys, but only one FN button... how do you input the second character?

For example if I hit FN+A it looks like it inputs "1", what do I do to input the exclamation?

It's a feature ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It would be awesome if you ellaborate on your experience with your nice 40% board. I wonder how the many combination commands affect your typing productivity.

Some small hardware issues that need to be worked out, but I'm typing on it now ;)

It would be awesome if you ellaborate on your experience with your nice 40% board. I wonder how the many combination commands affect your typing productivity.

I need to get some firmware stuff figured out so that I can reprogram it. The layout that it has now isn't very optimal for me, but I have some ideas in mind to make it much better. I'll certainly be posting a more in-depth review once I have used it for a while.

Got it all soldered up tonight.  Unfortunately the only set of caps I have right now is a set of stock filco caps, so thats what she will be wearing for a while...

Your design for how the mini-usb on the teensy ties directly into the board is downright awesome. I wish the Phantom PCBs had the same design!

I am legitimately considering a 40% board and I swore I would never use anything less than a TKL. I still don't like the majority of the 60% and 75% boards but Ill be damned if I'm not sitting here trying to talk myself out of one of these if/when a GB comes up.

Filco MJ2 TKL (Cherry Clears)  |  Phantom 87 (78g Gateron Clears)  |  Phantom 86 (67g Zealios)

Isn't that cool? regack asked me where I wanted the USB port, and I said if it could be separated from the Teensy, I would want it centered between the first two switches on the top edge of the PCB. regack said that the original Dox KB and ErgoDox had done it that way.
