Model F PC/AT

Here's one. It's advertised as a PC/XT model, but it's definitely an AT model (LED lights + AT layout). Pretty crappy condition though.

Yeah, I said that in reference to the dirt. Probably nothing that a good cleaning wouldnt fix. Buckling springs, whether they be of the Model M or F variety don't really wear out like other keyboards so there's no issue there.

Am I correct in understanding that this model will interface to a PS/2 connector with an adapter?

Oddly enough, even though the pictures are kinda fuzzy, the label says "Personal Computer AT" (the XT ones never said XT, they just said Personal Computer on them) God bless the poor guy selling it who can't tell the difference between an A and an X...

Quote
May go for lower for average if it has been mislabelled.

The AT ones are more valuable than the XT ones because they are comparitively rare. So it would be in the best interest of whoever knows what it really is to have everyone think that it's the XT model :P

Using one right here with an AT->PS/2 adaptor hooked to a PS/2->USB adaptor. So yes, the AT connector is basically the same as the PS/2 connector, it's just a different plug.

Google is your friend. IMO the best sniping service is Gixen.com

That's not really sniping, it's late bidding, unless you can make your manual bid within 2-3 seconds of the auction's close.

Did you start a thread about a keyboard that you intend to bid on?

An AT Model F should work on any computer via an adapter.

Hah! Of course not! If I were to buy another Model F, it'd be one in mint condition.

Conversely, a PS/2 keyboard can be plugged into a computer with an AT/DIN connector by means of a simple adaptor.

I've found that the best place to get old stuff like that is just the trash. You'll be amazed what you can find in other peoples' computer waste.

Man, it looks great (and the seller can be trusted) but the price is too high for how little I'd actually use it.

Congrats!

The "Spilled Coke Special" other Ebay one is up to $35.  Some people like to live dangerously.

At this rate, I'll probably get the better deal, anyway.

If it was really something like Coke spilled on that thing, it might be shot since those boards had no drainage holes.

$35 actually is a good deal for me since that one (the dirty one) has free shipping in my area!

Well, even a disgusting keyboard like that Model F can be cleaned so it looks like new. I did that to my old rubber dome one just yesterday (it really needed a cleaning after 18 years of use).
