Hmmm, why you hack my wallet, Red Scarf?Yeah, I regret getting the III over this, that special edition looks nice...
I now have to have this one, when I already ordered a RS III... :P

Sour about USA only, I'd like some of those feet. :)You could probably find someone to proxy.

Is the Special Edition option an addon or does it include everything from the base kit minus the other case?
Is the Special Edition option an addon or does it include everything from the base kit minus the other case?
Seems like it includes the sculptured case and PCB. No bezel is required, and the plate is of course optional.
what do you guys do about the mismatched profile keys on the right?
wish i got this instead of the rsIII
That's what I was afraid you'd say... 75% is my favorite layout but my OCD won't let me live with that mismatched profile.... unlessss.... I got some MX artisans to fill them with! Oh ****... I will be in this drop by March 10....what do you guys do about the mismatched profile keys on the right?
Learn to live with it. :)

If somebody wants to get rid of their RSIII to free up funds for this GB (and you're willing to ship your RSIII kit to Canada) pleaseet me know :thumb:I'd probably take you up on that :P PM me mate.

Does the Special Edition come with a plate or is it just housing and PCB?
Yes, the special edition also includes the PCB, and remote as well as the case. Plate is still an extra item. Feet are not necessary with the special edition as the casebody is already at a fixed angle.
I don't have any more pictures, just these that were sent to me from the organizer in China.
Sorry about USA only again but, heavy items are very expensive to ship from USA and I think it's not worth it in general since I am only doing a proxy deal really anyway.
Anyone knows what keycaps those are? The font is so crisp and nice! Those are good old cherry doubleshots. Modern versions are called GMK white/beige
Really gutted that this is USA only. :(If you need a proxy I can help
have estimate delivery to US sir?

20-30$ should be about right for a USA=>France for on of those kits right?
Speechless... this thing looks amazing.Show Image(http://gd2.alicdn.com/imgextra/i2/657078890/TB2i85pbVXXXXcFXXXXXXXXXXXX-657078890.jpg)
Edit:
Was JUST about to place an order on Winkeyless for the b.mini but it looks like I'll be joining this buy for the Special Edition....

More likely would be $40-60.
You can't even send a small flat rate box from US to France for $20. :(
For those of you who aren't in the US and want to order these keyboards on your own through TaoBao (using a TaoBao agent like TaoBaoFocus or YoyBuy) I've compiled the links to the parts you will need to order. Enjoy!Qtan also proxies

ik this is off topic but is there any way you can do a RSII, that layout was one of my ideals and i missed the RSIII and while this looks great, It's just not the layout for me lol. On a related note, HOW do you run so many GB's it really is a service to the communities especially as i know you are active here and on DT. (not sure if you are on /r/MK at all tho.) Keep up the good work! You can use Qtan or TaoBao to proxy a RedScarf II

Looks like proxy for us EU bros isn't going to happen :(
I could probably get DHL to pick a few for us, from Ivan, in the EU for not a lot of money, if thats an option? If not, I will be buying an Ortholinear keyboard

Well, for Global Business mail, its cheap. But if Ivan doesn't want to do that, I understand. I think the best bet is to wait to see if Qtan responds, I understand its a US only GB and I don't want to cause any trouble :)
It shouldn't be that much, 20 dollars or so per unit. We are changing from DHL though soon.Sounds good, waiting on a final prize from you and Ivan.

Damn.... This board looks amazing... I wish I knew how to solder or had the tools to do so lol... Kinda new to this whole thing, maybe I should invest into a soldering kit first before I start collecting these haha :))
I really want one of these boards before I get an Atomic I've decided.Still in for one special edition, and Ngt might also get one normal(same shipping adress).
Can we get a recall for EU people then?
I am in for 2
I haven't read much about the RedScarf keyboards personally, could anyone tell me if they're programmable? I do love the 75% form factor...

I want to order but im not sure what the colors of the bezel and feet look like (except for what i'm guessing is Grey and Silver in the first photos).
If I'm a complete beginner to making a keyboard, would this be hard? All I really need to learn is how to solder, right?
can confirm , easy kit , screw the parts, solder the switches put keycaps on , and start typing!I want to order but im not sure what the colors of the bezel and feet look like (except for what i'm guessing is Grey and Silver in the first photos).

Yes I believe it has the electronics pre-soldered, so all you would have to do is solder the switches in place and then assemble the case.
So we can still add in LED of our choice for the individual switches, and have some effects on them?
3mm normal led for in switch backlight, with 3 modes: always on, breathing light, light when type with adjustable speed of the dynamic lighting. This are the type of lightning you can use for switch backlight, and you also have RGB lightning underneath the PCB.

Just placed my order, yay!... but I've never done this before. Is there like an official Getting Started thread for keyboard building? I poked around Making Stuff Together and have gathered that I need PCB Mount switches, do not need diodes, and will need my own stabs. That all correct?

Cool, loving all the help! Will either costar or cherry stabs work? And what determines which stabs I can use, cutouts on the PCB? Cherry PCB mount stabs ONLY. There are no mounts on the plate for any stabs at all. You'll find that's common in most customs.
And based on this comment, I take it costar stabs are more popular with plate mount switches and cherry with PCB mount?

Costar stabs are popular on stock keyboards. ;)
If you plan on doing much soldering, the Hakko FX-888D is a good one to start with.
After I finish shipping all the outstanding orders from the Dolch/Stabs buy this week I will know what is leftover if anything. For those that need stabs from this and the other RedScarf kit will get first crack at them.
I'm willing to proxy ship for international people

I mean... there's that really convenient Gateron group buy going on right now... Could do some clears, or blacks, or try their browns.
Personally, I'll be getting some Gateron browns. If those aren't tactile enough, I'll just make some 62g ergo clears.

I use the 1.6mm chisel tip almost exclusively.

Have to decide on my led scheme for this too. I'll probably do cyan and magenta so I can swap effortlessly between my GMK dolch, future r4 Miami/Odessa, or the Purple Hangul set from kin.
Keyboard building is so exciting
As far as I know these are not made yet, so I would expect a couple month.

Any ideas on a ballpark time frame for the production to be finished? Very excited for this buy. :thumb:
Any chance I could use PCB mounted switches with the plate included in the kit?you can no problems.
For anyone that missed this, my special edition order is available if anyone's interested, just pm me if you'd like to take it over.

Yes everything but switch and in switch LED is already done on these.
Production is over, so these should be heading my way pretty soon.

Sorry... I only sent out the first wave of these today. I got called away and wasn't able to get them out, then the holiday weekend. I will get them finised send tomorrow, except for one unlucky special edition order, and one unlucky dark grey bezel order... as they have severe damage to one of each of those so I won't be able to fulfill you until I can get some replacement pieces. Sorry.

I should have mine by Saturday then? Aaaah.
Now to find goldish LEDs
For those of you who ordered the special edition, I didn't get any bolt to affix the weight and didn't see a reason to delay shipping them due to this. You can source your own size M5*8 countersink type bolt, or I can source some to send at some later time.

I ordered these "warm white" ones that turned out more "gold" looking than I expected: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321342266848Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/35LL96F.jpg)

Both seem nice, where did you get the colder ones?

These? (https://www.fastenal.com/products/details/M42540008A20000?term=M5x8&r=~|categoryl1:%22600000%20Fasteners%22|~%20~|categoryl2:%22600039%20Sockets%22|~%20~|categoryl3:%22600042%20Flat%20Socket%20Cap%20Screws%22|~%20~|sattr03:^%22Stainless%20Steel%22$|~)
What does M5*8 mean, you mean M5x8? Can you confirm the exact size/length please? Thanks
Mine arrived today as well, its incredibly sexy, going to build it now :D
also I'm a big dummy and can't figure out why there are two different screw types for the feet? Are the small ones incase the pcb wont clear the head?
*edit* here is a small album of my completed board using gateron clears (35g linear switches), I love this board so far and the fade effect is awesome

Did any of you SE folks get screws for yours yet? My local Fastenal has the M5 x .8 - 10mm countersunk hex screws but not the 8mm's. I might just have to order online..
So nice! Mine should be arriving tomorrow, can't wait!
Did Ivan send you a tracking number?

No, but USPS offers a service that lists all packages heading to your address, and its listing a package from the city/state that was on Ivans invoice.

Picked these up from Fastenal, they're actually M5-0.8 x 10mm, hopefully they're not too long. (I wanted black). If anyone gets the 8mm screws, please report back and let me know how close they are to the pcb.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/Ido1OwL.jpg)
I noticed my PC will get stuck in reboot cycle if I have the RS84 plugged in during boot, Windows 7 64 bit. Anyone else have this issue? I can use the keyboard fine once the OS is booted up. If I leave it plugged in during bootup, Windows 7 keeps auto-rebooting.You can try to change a HEX. But I don't know how to upload, can you give me an email?

Hi guys,
Received mine in the mail yesterday and I'm excited to take a crack at building it once my other stuff arrives. I'm a complete newbie at this; can someone tell me what size driver I should get to remove the tiny screws that are holding in the PCB to the case?
Has anyone else successfully flashed their own keymap onto the keyboard?
I created my keymap via keyboard-layout-editor.com (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/) but then I noticed TMK Keymap Generator (http://www.enjoyclick.org/tkg/) doesn't seem to have an selection for the RS84. I'm a bit lost on how to create the hex file.

Good question. I'm going to see if there is a way to export the keymap of the RS84, edit it and hopefully re-flash it.
you guys should try to have the RS96 selected and then input a layout where the non existant caps are blank. Not a bad idea azhdar. I will try to add a blank 6x4 cluster to my layout and see if it works.
Considering the RS96 pcb can be cut to be 75% it's possibly the exact same hardware underneath.
Where do you see that preset as an option, on http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/ ? I don't see it. thanksdigi, I just started with the preset for the Keycool 84 and modified it (for my split backspace layout) but it might be easier to start with a full layout and cut it down if you want to follow azhdar's suggestion.
Is there an easier to use software for programming TMK keymap? The only other alternative I know of is modifying the TMK keymap file(s) directly and compiling it yourself. It's not hard but creating the layout via keyboard-layout-editor.com and then copying the raw data into TKG to generate the hex is easier imo.
Alright I think I figured it out - I had the layout wrong. You pretty much have to get the keyboard text *exactly* right for TKG to work (text position matters). There is no need to trick TKG into thinking you have an RS96. See my working layout here (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/7a7dc5bd42cf3e8222254500d01ba98a). I was able to use the RawData from this layout along with TKG to generate the eep file. After flashing the eep file via offline flashing everything works as I expect.
I would not recommend using the KeyCool 84 preset as a starting point. I would use my layout as a starting point and add/remove layers as necessary. Pretty much everything azhdar's guide (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=69282.0) says for the RS96 applies here.
digi, you can create multiple layers with the keyboard layout editor and then copy into TKG using All-In-One Layer Mode.
My space bar isn't pressing well, too wobbly. I hope this stabilizer I put in isn't having issues. Would have to desolder everything. Might it have anything to do with the space bar stabilizer being flipped upside down on this pcb?

I don't think that's a particularly unusual configuration. I haven't experienced any problems with the RS84, RS96, or Lightsaver.
All dialed-in.

BTW - Every time you execute the print job it will successfully flash the keymap but the print job will stay in the print spooler. MAKE SURE YOU DELETE ALL PRINT JOBS BEFORE RE-RUNNING THE FLASH or it will reflash the previous keymap every time.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/WLfZuXK.jpg)
I don't need that silly remote now =)

Ivan, did everything go out? Would like to know a rough estimate of when to expect a package so I can have someone look out for it.
I am still waiting to arrange something for damage item on 2 orders (taylordcraig and dblr). You 2 were the last in the list for those particular item, so you got the unlucky draw. The delux case is very badly broken, but perhaps could be made usable again with some expertly done epoxy though with very apparent cosmetic flaw. The other order issue is with a top bezel, which has a pretty decent sized scrape/gouge to the finish on a top facing corner. If you prefer not to wait and see about repair yourself to get going I can go ahead and send the items if you wish.
Otherwise everything else has gone out.
