Preface: I've recently accumulated a lot of unexpected debt hovering in the $3000 range.  As a result, I'm looking to auction off some items to help pay for some of this.  Long story short, my 17 year old dog passed away last Tuesday and this month I have to pay double rent because my landlord wouldn't let me out of my contract early.  That along with some unexpected contractor fees has built up and really put me in a tight situation.  You can read more about the sad story here:  http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36149.0.  If you can't see it, feel free to read the second post.

I do want to give a public shoutout to everyone who has been extremely supportive to my dog and I.  I really want to thank you all for sympathizing with me and helping me through these last few days.


Rules and information: This is your standard public auction.  Post in the thread to record your bid.  No anonymous bids will be considered, so please do not PM me.  Bid increments will be by $1.

Just like any auction on eBay, sniping at the last minute is completely allowed.  I'm not going to have any of that 5-15 min. extensions, so please keep track of the time and when the auction ends.  For your convenience, I've included a countdown timer for when the auction ends.

The auction begins now and will end on October 19, 2012 at 10:00pm CST.  Not sure when it ends for you?  Check out the countdown timer

The countdown timer is only used as a means of reference for your timezone.  In the last minute of the auction or whenever people decide to start sniping, all bids will be recorded by FORUM TIME.  There is likely a discrepancy between the countdown timer and forum time.  Once again, I repeat, BIDS ARE RECORDED BY FORUM TIME.

Shipping:  Shipping is included both domestically and internationally on smaller items.  The keyboards will likely require additional costs depending on how much they go for.


Invoicing/Payment: Invoices will be sent out via PM after the auction ends.  Please try to pay within 2 days, but if for whatever reason you cannot please let me know.  All invoices will include a total Paypal fee of 3.5% added to the grand total.


Additional Info: 10% of the proceeds will be donated to Geekhack.  If somehow I manage to pay off all my bills with this auction, I will donate the remainder to GH or upcoming community projects (i.e. Cherry legend or something like that).  Also, I will be out of town between 10/11 - 10/16.  So don't expect many updates to happen during this time, but I will do my best =)  Just follow the thread to see the latest bids.

For the past week or so, I've been really down in the dumps.  I've talked to a very few amount of GH members and haven't been very active with work or personal life.  Really, I've just had no motivation.  My dog passed away yesterday.  She was 17 years old and lived an incredibly long, happy, human food filled life.  I really couldn't have asked for anything else. 

In the beginning of her last week, she appeared to have been suffering from a slipped disc in her upper spine, towards the neck.  This caused her to have severe pain when walking, laying down, eating, or really any sort of upper body movement.  My gf and I decided that this was the event that we would euthanize her.  The suffering she's endured, and the mental pain that we endure is just a long road of sadness and heartaching pain.  Even typing this now, I'm desperately holding back any tears but my heart is exhausted, still healing from yesterday's sorrow.

As the week progressed, Penny gave us a final gift.  On her last day, the morning of, my gf and I walked her and she seemed so happy.  I think she knew her day was coming and wanted us to be happy no matter what.  We walked her as much as she could take, fed her some delicious food and all the water she wanted.  It was her last supper, her last walk, and her last goodbye.

Thank you Penny for all the warm memories.  I will never forget the times we spent together as children, teenagers and lastly, adults.  I saw you through your entire life, beginning as a basket of ferocious energy down to the last dwindling breath of your senior citizenship.  I know that we'll see eachother again, but until then, may you rest happily and forever in peace.

With that being said, some other crappy things that have been happening in the midst of all this. I've been also trying my best to move into my new house, however, along with that came a month's worth of double rent/mortgage. 

Timing was kind of bad in this situation where I found myself having to move into my new place but still paying rent on my old place because of a contractual agreement.  Top that off with unexpected contractor fees and veterinary bills, I'm down about $3000.  With that being said, I plan on holding a public auction to help pay for these things.  This isn't a pity or charity auction, this is simply to help pay for my bills.  However, because GH is such a big part of my life right now, I do plan on donating some of the proceeds to continue helping fund this warm, amazing community.
