It's been a while since I've participated in a thread looking for my holy grail, so here is the next attempt. I've been down every since you guys became more learned and told me I can't just put diodes in my Model M. :(
This thread is about cheap NKRO. My ultimate goal is a standard layout keyboard, new or used, with NKRO not requiring drivers, for $20. I would love to entertain other options around that spec, however. Say the keyboard is $40, or can do NKRO on USB but you have to install a driver, or is a **** layout, etc. Just throw it out there. It can be a keyboard that will have the feature if I just throw diodes in -- any easy DIY project is welcomed. This is one of the few threads you will find where the switches are the least of my worries.
I have at least 30 keyboards and no NKRO. Thank you, friends.
n-key rollover

The I-Rocks KR-6820E-BK is NKRO (ok, up to 11 keys, but do you have 11 fingers?). It's a rubber dome, but a fairly well made and decent feeling one. It's about $25 at Newegg.

:) thank you very much, that's a start. I didn't realize I-Rocks was doing budget keyboards with >6 rollover.

Cherry MX8100 is fully Nkey. You said funky layouts were OK.
This Ebay one is Cherry clear, already cleaned (highly unusual for a POS keyboard) and only $19 BIN.
RE: http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=4182
Can someone hand (I think you can use a hand to hit every key but numlock) the numpad on an MX8100/G80-8113 and see if everything registers?

Wow that sold quick...did a Geekhacker buy it?

Yes. I have an 8200, but they all use the same PCB. It's NKRO.

they don't have to be on the same row, it does it with any key

then what is it*?
even if it was nkro, it's the worst rubber dome keyboard I've typed on
OP would not like it
-
i did, impulse buy
i always wanted a POS keyboard with a cardreader
n-key snagged me
it was not ultra super clean as impressively advertised...but it was awfully close. very beautiful...new looking. i just jammed the numpad and **** brix\
...knowing that i will now not only be as good as my keyboard when i game. yes i press 7 button at once to own!!\\
god bless
Anyway, the survey doesn't end here. I'm not really a fan of the layout here, but this was definitely more appealing than the smugged together boards. The truth is that I don't just want NKRO for myself, I want to evangelize it on some small scale. So first is to figure out what cheap decent NKRO boards might exist, and next is to determine whether for any period of time there will be a reliable supply at the price. So, continue posting examples as I celebrate one of the best days of my life.
total after ship was less than 30. clean POS keyboard with NKEY, pretty sexy ithink
EDIT, more fun: I just ran an old credit/debit card and a drivers license through the mag reader and it wrote out stuff for me in notepad, without any extra softwarez, yay

Now THAT's cool. I think you just sold me on one (http://cgi.ebay.com/REFURBISHED-CHERRY-Keyboard-G80-8113HRBUS-2-/290392734351?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0). Will update y'all if I actually do buy it.

Have your friends come over with their Gift/Debit cards and scan them. Great fun for all.
I'm sure they won't suspect a thing when they hit their spending limits.

This will make parties much more interesting...see keyboards aren't entirely geeky :D

You can link them to news articles detailing how thieves put scanner devices over ATM and gas station kiosks...'that's how they REALLY hit your spending limit!'
