Yeah, the purple modifier color seems to be extremely difficult to photograph correctly, and washes out really badly on photos, even in a dimly lit room. It definitely looks significantly darker and probably half way between magenta and royal purple in person, definitely nowhere near as pink as the photos display.
The only way I can get an iPhone photo to get close to the in person shade is to set exposure to -100 and brilliance to -75. This is an approximation of what I think it looks like in person, but even then the purple still hues pinker.
