Looking for a compact iso layout (spanish or blank)
« on: Mon, 16 March 2015, 05:29:01 »
Hi,

Seems I am very bad looking for a decent successor of my old Model M. The keys on what I'm looking for are:
- MX Blue
- Solid construction
- ISO layout (blank keys or Spanish)

On keyboardco.com I've found 2 boards that can feet:

Blank Filco Majestouch-2, Tenkeyless, NKR, Click Action, Keyboard
http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/blank-filco-majestouch-2-tenkeyless-nkr-click-action-keyboard.asp

Spanish Filco Majestouch-2, NKR, Click Action Keyboard
http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/spanish-filco-majestouch-2-nkr-click-action-keyboard.asp

Both keyboard out of stock right now, so, question 1: when are they going to be available?
The prices seem weird to me. Both Majestouch, but the tenkeyless with blank keycaps is 27 pounds above the Spanish one. Is there a reason (like PBT keycaps)?

Hi astrafo, I'll look into this for you.

Edit:

It looks like we have nothing at the moment that perfectly fits your requirements. However, would you consider a keyboard with clicky Matias switches? These are fairly similar to Cherry Blues, as they have a tactile bump and audible click when typing. You could pick up a UK layout keyboard and a blank ISO keyset:

http://www.keyboardco.com/product/matias-keyset-blank-black-iso-pc-full.asp

Otherwise, if Cherry Brown switches are acceptable we do have stock of the Majestouch-2 in Spanish:

http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/spanish-filco-majestouch-2-nkr-tactile-action-keyboard.asp

I hope one of these options is suitable for you.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I don't like Matias keyboards (not sure about the glossy finish and I've read some issues on this forum).
I have no hurries at all. I've been hitting my current model M for a couple of decades, so I can wait to find a perfect mate (or substitute, who knows?).

If you can let me know if you expect to have the blank Majestouch Tenkeyless (http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/blank-filco-majestouch-2-tenkeyless-nkr-click-action-keyboard.asp) sooner or later I will stop searching and order it. As I said before, I don't mind waiting a couple of months.

Thank you again.

Hi astrafo. I'll find out when we expect to have stock of that model. Thanks for your patience.

Edit:

One of my colleagues has suggested this:

You could order a Swedish Majestouch-2 and a blank keyset (due to arrive on Friday):
http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=808
http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=692

I hope this is suitable for you.
