I feel it, lol. After the Holy Panda debacle and a few other things, I'm getting really anxious about this cap set.

Not sure if it’s been brought up yet, but you only have a single 1.75u spacebar in the 40s kit. The 40s boards which use a 1.75u spacebar use two of them and not one (prime_L, JD45, JD40).

I recommend adding the second 1.75u spacebar into the 40s kit or dropping it entirely.

While this is mostly true, the Vortex Core uses one 1.75u spacebar. There's the spacebar kit, but I guess another white 1.75u could be added.

You’re right, there is the vortex core. I haven’t heard that layout in a while.

The other benefit of the additional 1.75u spacebar is that it can be used as the minivan Lock key (albeit convex instead of concave).

Edit: I’d actually remove the additional 1.75u from the accent minibars kit. IMO. Having the single accent key there just for vortex core is a pretty big inclusion for just that one layout.

I am DEFINITELY interested in this set, and while I am likely not gonna use it for my Drop Shift, since I like backlit kits too much to give that up, will this be compatible out of box with the Shift's 1800 layout?

There already is a dedicated R5 1.75u key for Minivan (it's labeled Mode).

The following are all the keyboards that use 1.75u space keys:
  • Vortex Core (1.75u ×1)
  • JD40 (1.75u ×2)
  • JD45 (1.75u ×2)
  • Prime_L (1.75u ×2)

I usually recommend that sets (especially ones where alphas and mods are the same color) don't include a second 1.75u space since the 1.75u Minivan key can be used in its place. That could also be done here, and I don't think users of those three keyboards would mind it — I'm pretty sure that the majority of them don't map both 1.75u keys to space anyway.

This is the single most anticipated set for me. The wait time is killing me ;)

BTW rather important question to folks located in Europe. How's your experience with Drop?
Having read how long and bumpy the GB has been in case of Susuwatari (even inside US), at this very moment I'm convinced that obtaining this set via Drop will be a pure lottery, and paying them money is as good as gambling. Not to mention that taxes on top of already high priced product will hang us dry (it's only because I'm crazy about this set, that I decided to go for it).

Haven't ordered any GB through Drop before, but ordered a pair of headphones. Delivery-wise, it took about a week to get shipped to the Netherlands and then another week to get to Denmark and through customs I believe. That's about half a year ago.

Possible to add enter and esc violet accents in the accent or gamer pack kits? I am invested into MT3 already and like the shade of alphas here, would buy accents AND arrows if esc/enter were in it. Thx

Any updates on the timeline for this project?
I'm guessing it's getting pushed back a bit more?

From the "Susuwatari MT3 Keycap Coupon Thread":

Quote
We're hoping to release 3 more MT3 sets in October/November, Black on White, White on Black, and Carmillo. All three are subject to potential delays, i.e. no promises!

This was on Sept 25th, when MT3 3277 went live btw.

I think MT3 SNES is waiting for toolings for R5 (row 5)
and also concern about color matching (not sure if this is in the work)

I'm patiently waiting for MT3 SNES.  ;D

Hey, thanks for all the responses. I will post a more thorough update at a later time. For now:

While working more closely with Drop and learning about the manufacturing process of MT3 (more info), I became aware of some limitations related to production (all factories have different limitations). The kits, as they were posted in the OP, are not longer current.

I'm working around these restrictions (on colour, profile and legends) to be able to realize all the beautiful ideas generated by this IC. In light of this, I suggest putting the very specific requests for kit/key changes, as they are, on a slight pause...

More to come!

It would be nice to be able to get two 2u spacebars without having to buy multiple kits. There are many keyboards (especially 40% orthos) that support two 2u spacebars. Please consider adding an additional 2u spacebar to every kit that already has a 2u spacebar. (It would be great if they were there same color too.)

It would also be nice to have two 2u (convex) spacebars in the Ergo kit for Boardwalks. I think there are people who would use convex 2u spacebar keys on traditional Ergodox thumb keys layouts as well.

Been looking forward to it for several months now. Even posted a message on Discord already some time ago. This set is a gem. Whatever it is you're gonna do with it voodoo, best of luck.

On a sidenote - MT3 doubleshot being pretty fresh topic for the community seemingly, would you be keen to say a few words what are the main obstacles? Is it the plastic changing it's properties with certain dyes, contrast/sharpness aspects, mould injection or something else? Asking just out of curiosity.

Also, I joined the party a bit late, and if I'm not mistaken this set started as a Signature Plastics SA project - is that right? Despite stating on Discord that SA is probably no go for me, do you have any renders of it left? After all maybe it is worth it to ask community if they'd be interested in SA or, even better, KAT run, followed by target MT3 whenever you come to terms with all the challenges around it?

I'm guessing for both runs you'd have a decent numbers of potential buyers.

Take care

About MT3 doubleshot, if you look at all the new sets, you will notice a pattern... (without going into detail) it's cheaper and faster to re-use these kit arrangements.

No, I don't have any renders of SA R3 with centered legends. I do believe this set should be ABS, so that narrows down potential manufacturers.

To be honest, in the current climate, my interest in making keysets has waned quite a bit.

I'll ask a few vendors what their schedule looks like. If it's not too complicated, I'd do either SP SA or EnjoyPBT (ABS). Otherwise I'll have to pass the torch.

Any updates on if you'll be continuing with it? MT3 Cyber just had some interesting additions from MiTo (Vim keys, novelties), but not sure if he has some kind of deal with Drop in which they eat some of the cost or something. Would love to see this in any form though; if I had any GB experience, I would be willing to help.

Hey, thanks. I'm not sure if we're looking at the same thing, but the Cyberdeck novelties are the same as Susuwatari's. To be honest, I'm not really interested in remaking Susu/Cyber in SNES colours...

I'll be getting a quote for (SP) SA SNES, centered legends, R3 (or 223333) profile.

Yep completely missed that! And I agree, just the colors in the same format wouldn't really be exciting for me either. Awesome to hear you're looking into SP SA :). Will be watching it closely!

Forgot to thank you for elaborating a bit for us. It has certainly shed some light on what we can (or rather cannot) expect from Drop/MT3 in the near future.
I sure will keep an eye on SP's take on the topic. GL!

This is a major bummer. Personally speaking, I don't know that SA is particularly appealing as a choice to me here (KAT might be an interesting choice, although obviously who can say what's going on over at Keyreative at this point) and I'd be *extremely* happy to get MT3 in a colorway I actually like (since the others... aren't so much my jam) even if it didn't have all the fun interesting novelties you've worked on for this.

Obviously all of this is your call and I hope the best for you! You've been putting good, hard work into this and having Drop squash that down really sucks. Much as it might be a bummer for me, I'm sure it's even more of a bummer for you. Best wishes as you forge another path forward on this one.

that would a a sweet profile. I love all r3 SA but not a fan of DSA. I think it has to do with the higher profile of row 3. either all r3 or the 22333 sounds like fun.

Would still be super keen for the set in SA, but would much rather see a full sculpt over 223333.

Love this set but would have to be out if it's not full sculpt.

Agreed with a few above. Love the set and have been keeping my eye on it, but another vote for sculpted! Not a fan of uniform profile (or basically almost uniform)
