Yea - I'd be really interested to try buckling springs. Are they anything like blues?

I'm not sure why we don't have a Unified keyboard recommendation thread...
It'd only be about 2 words long.. and one of my cat emoticons.

contrary to popular belief.. I am not against topre..
I just don't like how some of the fanbois kinda push it on GH novices as the Greatest keyboard without much solid evidence as to why..

Well topre is just one type of switch, either you like it or not.
But ergodox is custom and theres alot of switches to choose, a novice might not be able to tell clears from blacks.
Dont get me wrong its a good board, just not for newbies
I've tried neither Alps, nor Topre (shame on me), and BS is not really my cup of tea, but I could see myself using them occasionally.
Of the mx series, my favourite is by far Jailhouse modded blues, with no click. Second to that comes browns.

Yea - I've heard good things about beam spring. I wish there was like, a huge board out there where you could put a whole hand on each type of switch to really try it out. I really can't tell much of anything from just one switch on a tester kit. Just because you can push something with one finger and you like it doesn't mean it'll feel the same when you type on it.
Do they even make new keyboards with alps / beam / buckling? Or do you have to buy used?
My favourites are BS and MX Blues, with Vintage Blacks growing on me (using them with my ErgoDox right now).
My kittens though grew up on IBM Model F Terminal and they seemed to enjoy it :D
I'm at the beginning of my mechanical keyboard journey, but of what I've tried so far:
buckling springs > 67g ergo-clears > clears > browns
I don't think I'd like linear switches, but there are some obvious tactile omissions like blues. The next switch I try will actually be whites.

try 62 ergoclears.. they're feelvery different vs 67..

I hope to eventually, but to be honest after using the stock clears for a couple weeks, the 67g ergo-clears already seem really light. They're light enough that my fingers don't get tired at all, but heavy enough that I mistype significantly less than, e.g. browns.
What differences in feel should I expect with 62g clears?

I felt like I couldn't relax on the 67 so I dropped to 62
I rolled stock clears a while after 62s for some fun-factor, but it really is too tiring for extended sessions.
Generally I don't believe Typing should be a feat of strength.. So I went to 62 ergo blacks which are reds.

Vintage black is a lie...
They're just regular blacks.. but smoothed out over time...Show Image(http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion_custom/th_aji.gif)

Bull****. I've got 2 NIB 1990 G80 Terminals which are butter smooth. Smoother than brand new MX Reds and well worn Reds (to the point where filco labels fade away). I actually opened few of those switches and I can confirm they're lubed by factory. It's hard to say if they're smoother than Topre as I'm no longer using Topre on my primary keyboard, but when switching from Topre after one week of using it to those blacks I don't feel the scratchiness you can always feel when switching to Reds or Browns.
I'm loving the thopre atm. I really want to try 55g topre and 62g ergoclears. My opinion on mx blues: meh.

Ive tried it before :)
55g Topres are too hard and 62g Ergoclears are perfect
