Title: Making A Mechanical Calculator
Post by: PierceSutton on Mon, 12 November 2018, 13:27:18
So it came across my mind to make a simple calculator with mechanical switches because while I was doing homework for calculus, I found that the keys on my calculator were not keeping up with my hands when punching in some numbers. I don't plan on building graphing calculator for I think that would be too costly probably more like a 4x6 button calculator. After that thought, I started building a shopping list with all the parts I would need such as an arduino uno and a LCD display. However, I don't know where I would find a keypad circuit board or even better, a mechanical keypad complete with switches. I did find a mechanical keypad complete with LCD by Ducky here: https://www.amazon.com/Ducky-Pocket-Cherry-Silver-Keyboard/dp/B07121DYMD/ref=sr_1_73?srs=3027030011&ie=UTF8&qid=1542047771&sr=8-73 (https://www.amazon.com/Ducky-Pocket-Cherry-Silver-Keyboard/dp/B07121DYMD/ref=sr_1_73?srs=3027030011&ie=UTF8&qid=1542047771&sr=8-73) But I'm not willing to pay $70 for a simple calculator. So if you guys could help me find a cheap option (under $40) that would be awesome.

Thanks in advanced - Pierce
