SSK inflation coming to an temporary end?
« on: Fri, 31 January 2014, 04:24:47 »
I just saw one sell for $172.  Another one has 17 hours or so left and is only at $202.  could things finally be simmer down with the SSK's?
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing

Should I bid on that SSK for $202? I'm still wondering to my self.

But then you won't be able to afford your HHKB! Oh, wait....
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Chances are that a dozen buyers with very deep pockets went into rut at the same time late last year.

My prediction is that prices will stabilize in the low-$200s until a new Unicomp comes out in the low-$100s.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

When I wrote them a couple weeks ago, I asked whether they were planning to make an SSK, and the reply made it sound like they get that question pretty much every week.

Wonder whether they'll cave at some point and start up production.

If there's a market for it...

If there's a market for it...

Someone said that there is no market and maybe 50 - 100 boards would sell which I think is wrong.  I've spyed on EK's inventory of Leopold 87's w/ Browns and watched them go through 150-300 boards in almost two months with almost no advertising.

Yes, much less common and highly sought after.  Industrial SSK is the holy grail of SSKs.
Mkawa Beta SSK | IBM SSK | IBM Model AT F | IBM F 122 | IBM Unsaver | LZ-GH (62g ergo clears) | HHKB Pro2 Type-S | HHKB Pro2 | Realforce 87U-Silent (55g uniform) | Leopold FC660C | Omnikey 101 (blue alps) | Kingsaver (blue alps) | Zenith ZKB2 (green alps)

Yeah, it seems pretty obvious that they would sell, given how well other brands' TKLs sell.

Finally, people are coming to their senses. Don't overpay for mediocre to good Model M's folks. Those two sold at much more realistic prices.
SSKs for everyone!

Those $300+ prices were pretty high for regular SSK's. However my point is that if an item is very rare, like this industrial SSK, prepare to see some crazy prices.

I still can't believe dolch boards were going for $200+ but everyone seemed to want them at that time

Also that industrial SSK hasn't ended yet, really curious to see what happens when it ends.

jcrouse sold his industrial SSK for $450 with several full keycap sets, not sure why SSK's always go for so much more on Ebay.

Was jcrouse's SSK all OEM though? I thought he bought tsangan's Model M bundle and it was actually an industrial shell with SSK guts? I don't recall, but I thought he had bought tsangan's stuff and just resold it at his cost. Still a great deal though.

Also looks like there is a NIB SSK now that just passed $300.
