Title: razer blackwidow elite - mac keys
Post by: metatronx on Tue, 21 January 2020, 06:50:08
Well, this is my "first" gaming keyboard (been a mac user for a very long time and before that I always used Logitech keyboard).
I took advantage of discounts on razer website and I bought this new keyboard. I saw that there is a chance of changing keys on it, so I thought that I can get only needed mac keys layout and change it.

I saw that lower row of mentioned keyboard has "nonstandard" keys (I found this info on reddit). So getting right ones is probably "hard". I checked lots of website that sell customised keys, but I couldn't find any mac ones. Could someone help me out on this? I'm new to this customisable keyboard thing and all the help is really appreciated.

Max Keyboards has them (http://www.maxkeyboard.com/custom-mac-modifier-backlight-keycaps.html). Select "6.0× Spacebar bottom". Then select a style ("Keycap Option").

However... by just installing the keycaps, the Command and Option keys have the reverse meaning.
I don't know if the BW Elite allows you to swap the meaning of the keys  on the keyboard, but I have heard that some version of Razer Synapse for Mac should support swapping them.
Otherwise you should be able to swap the keys in System Preferences→ Keyboard → Modifier Keys... but then the keys would be swapped for all keyboards that you connect ... including the built-in keyboard if you are using a laptop. :-þ

BTW. Some narrow-minded people call keyboards with that width of modifier keys on the bottom row as "non-standard". It is a standard, and quite a few keyboard, even mechanical ones, do have that configuration.
Some mechanical Razer keyboards do have slightly different mounts for the space bar though.

There are Mac rainbow PBT keycaps, and Mac layout mechanical keyboards. Like wasd, keychron and velocifire.
