If someone wants the QMK and didn't get an invoice, Jchan you can cancel mine and give it to them.

GMK caps do not work on R3 switches where the led faces north (upside down switch placement).  Well, they work, but have a muted bottoming out since the keycap collides with the switch housing. Yes, this is a thing.  Yes I believe thousands of GMK users have overlooked it.

LEDS are in the South position.

Also, you want 1.8mm LEDS.

Will 2x3x4 LEDs still work for DSA or SA but not GMK?

Yes this absolutely is a thing. Many people are nescient and no one seems to ever talk about it. So many people putting gmk or similar low profile sets on upside down switches.

Gladly it seems that all, if not most quality pcbs for custom builds are designed for correct switch orientation.

Also with LEDs. Even with south positioned LEDs for me personally GMK caps still bottom out on the LED.
I've tried 2x3x4, even 1.8 LEDs I got from Winkeyless still bottom out on the keycap. The only thing that works for me is clear switchtops with 2x3x4 leds mounted underneath the switchtop.
However I think this may not work with holtite sockets.

Ok but I need to know if 2x3x4 will work for SA and DSA caps on this PCB or else I need to buy some 1.8s since I've already bought the 2x3x4s.

I obviously don't have this PCB, but I don't see why it would differ from any other.  I have placed 2x3x4 leds in similar boards without issue.  I remember a few that I had to rework because they weren't pushed all the way in before I soldered them, but as long as they are flush there should be no issue with DSA or SA keycaps.

However, since you have time before the board arrives, you might as well get some 1.8mm LEDs. They loolk nice, seem to be slightly brighter, and will be better compatible if you decide to put cherry profile caps on it down the road.

You can get them from eBay for cheap or even zeal has some for a decent price, if you want them quicker.

Email was sent out at 5:30 AM PST and I filled it around two hours later when I woke up. I didn't get an invoice. My guess is that it went to the east coasters or Europeans who were awake.

I'm still working on the QMK pcb invoicing stuff.

Don't worry. We're manufacturing a bunch, and some for stock after as well.

As I missed to join GB, I am looking for someone who is looking for order transferring to me, so I can get it and done.

My preference of this board would be;

- M65-A aka Ramabae65 $230 w/ Aluminum Base (Champagne, Rose Gold or Space Grey)
- PCB $40.00

I have plate-mounted keyswitches, and hope the above components works well with my keyswitches.

Heyo :P

There is this one:

- Space Grey top
- Space Grey Bottom
- Brass Plate
- Additional Silver bottom
- 1 Mousepad
- PCB

$415 pre shipping.

I can take out the additional silver bottom, or I can take out the space gray bottom. It'd be $85.00 less.

In other news:

the mousepad sample came in, and it looks amazing. We're going with a new manufacturer who has a slightly better quality print quality, and the rubber is slightly MORE GRIPPY than the previous mousepad run we had.

Good question, I'm also curious. I tend to get my mousepads super dirty so if it's light gray I may have to keep this one as a display piece  :p

You will go to hell for eating at your desk!  Lol seriously though I had to break that habit a few years ago and everything is much cleaner now.

Probably around $65 + shipping considering the Nylon set is $20 cheaper than the Aluminium set and the Aluminium base is $85 itself.

Sounds good! Now to figure out on how to pop one together and the switches! First custom build so I'm nervous haha

Both should be supported. PCB mount is always preferable, but either work.

Looking into getting switches, and I'm wondering if I should get PCB mount or plate mount? Thanks!  :)

Both should be supported. PCB mount is always preferable, but either work.
Sounds great, thanks!

Most people prefer plate mounted keyboards. The M65-A is a plate mounted keyboard. Having PCB mounted switches is only going to make it more difficult to put together with literally no added benefit. I would have to disagree with the statement above and say that plate mounted switches are most often preferable. The only reason to buy PCB mounted switches is if you know you're using them on a PCB mounted KB or if you have no idea what you'll be using the switches for—because you can painfully trim all the PCB mounts off later.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I've always understood it.

The reason to buy PCB mount switches is that you can use them as is on most plate mounted setups, or simply snip off the PCB mount legs. With plate mount switches you're tied to plate mount only. I also find PCB mount better when handwiring boards as I can use the PCB mounts to hold diodes in place   Pretty much no reason to limit yourself by buying plate mount only switches IMO.

Back on topic; can't wait for this board. QMK invoice paid. My body is ready!

We'll have the extras available after the GB ships.

New update:

GMK Screw in stabs just arrived for everyone's kits. You'll have a choice of 6.25U or 7U when it comes the time to be finalized for shipment.

Hey jchan, just wondering but how will we be contacted to pick the stabs?

Everyone will be mass emailed :)

Got it  :thumb:

Thanks for the tips above - I guess I might get plate mounts seeing that the RAMABAE has the brass plate mounts :) . Next to figure out which kind of switches to get! I want something more stiffer then my HHKB's and yet feel like them... Zealios seem to fit the profile but I have yet to try one out in real life unfortunately.

Do you happen to have any additional alu bases left.  I would love to purchase an extra.

I've had problems with plate mount switches being very slightly crooked in plates that support switch top removal, as well as universal plates. That's likely a problem with the plate rather than the switches, but if I can avoid those issues by using PCB mount, it's worth the extra trouble for me.
