Plate options are aluminum

Colors are still being decided. But there is a shop in my area that offers Black, red, yellow, blue, grey, and clear anodizing. But If anyone is interested in powder coating, the board will look a lot closer to the renders.

I will not provide pcbs to reduce cost.

Update on pricing

Price for the board will be $320 which includes top and bottom housing, brass weight, alu plate, and anodizing cost. Getting the jellyfish engraved will cost $50 more.

If this is in the low 300$ I might have to get someone to proxy it. It looks so good, although I think the design suits 65% boards better for some reason.

Love, love, love!!!

This is really nice. Simple, clean and classy. Auto buy for me.

Plus, I worked with green fluorescent protein (GFP) in grad school, which was originally isolated from jellyfish. Find a way to get some tritium in that logo and I’d gladly pay for this beaut. Nice job everyone involved!

Took your idea into consideration. It might be hard to add it to the jellyfish but there is a render of the tritium on the top bezel.

Fixed ANSI plates, a big through weight, and some lovely curves... you have my attention :)

Seeing as the top bezel is fairly large and you don’t plan to provide PCBs does this mean a daughter-board will be used or will the usb cutout just be made fairly wide to accommodate?

Looks great - but as others have said I think it would suit 65% more especially with the PEN holder.

Also - you mentioned Tes designed this - is it part of the same range as Lumina, his Corian board?

This is a project apart from the Lumina. Tes helped me design it but I have the rights to it as it's mine. But he has been a big part of this project.

If you do decide to do a pencil holder design maybe something more in the theme of your board and have it a bit wavy to represent the jellyfish frills, but I am against the pencil holder in general.

IDK feels like the bottom-through weight is something that is sort of expected at this point. Plus, jelly....

i could go on about weights for a while

it's really up to the designer, some people really like the look of it but it adds a lot of cost

personally i don't see it as a necessity, but for some it adds that "premium" factor

I'm definitely cool with the removal of the weight. While they can be nice, they definitely shouldn't have to be standard.

*Edit: Also, do we have any idea if a daughter board will be necessary due to the size of the bezel?

I will be getting a prototype first, in the renders it seemed wide enough to use a USB port without having to use a daughterboard. But I'll give feedback on that when I get the prototype.

I never had a custom or kustom, so I can’t really speak on the weight but what I really like is the engraving on them. I probably won’t want something to heavy but who knows. Maybe it can have something Instead of brass so maybe it can be cheaper?

I decided to stick to the current layout I had, it was the most voted one and easier for the manufacturer to keep up with. For the engraving $50 is what the shop charges to make the jellyfish as the engraving takes extra time to get done and a bit difficult due to the design and thin lines.

From the picture it kinda looks like the weight from the first proto looks better. But the second prototype doesn't seem like has good lighting, so I will have to wait to have them in my hands to check which one looks better. But the shop that did the first prototype also does anodizing and currently getting mine anodized red wine. Here is a picture of the colors they offer.

Red wine will be a very dark red, kinda like a burgundy. It should be done anodized this week so I'll post some updates on the thread later this week.

I will actually be going with that color for the purple one. Once I get the pictures of the anodizing for the proto. I will start asking for closer pictures of the colors I want.

The color from the bottom. I was told it was the same color just different lighting, but once they were inspecting it for shipping they noticed it was different so it will be getting re anodized.

Have there been any more specifics given about the whole "buy an acrylic plate, be entered to win a free Acquaria" thing? Like is just a sort of someone might potentially win sort of raffle? or will there be a guaranteed winner picked from those who buy an acrylic plate?

So how it will work is that I will put everyones name who bought an acrylic plate in a generator and let it pick randomly a person. Buying more then 1 plate won't give you another entry. I didn't give more details about this, but the winner will get there board for free and I will refund them there money.

So after receiving the prototype there was some issues and I am currently getting some new files to fix those issues and I also want to order another prototype. I would like to have a proper one before starting GB so at this point, most likely the GB will start around late October.

A little update. I won't be able to get brass plates. But another option that I can get are steel plates, if anyone is interested in steel plates let me know since so far aluminum is an option. Steel plates will a $5 upgrade from aluminum. Current colors for the aquaria are red wine, blue, grey, and purple which is currently being anodized and will provide pictures later.

I take it the second picture there is the grey? It looks rather light, almost more like silver imo. Don't know about anyone else, but I'd personally prefer a darker grey

i agree with a darker gray if you chose to say gray and not silver its a tad misleading, but i do say im interested in purple and that blue looks great, plus id take a steel plate just to try it.
