Order is placed, didn't realize the lead time was so far out but I'll settle in and wait. Didn't know if I'd get in on these the first time I saw them around but the set really grew on me.

Also yeah Mechs & co has it listed as PBT, I noticed that too

I couldn't see the answer here or in the IC, sorry if it's been covered already; If I use this on a normal TKL layout will I have two 'back space' keys (R1 2.0u and R2 1.5u)  :(

That is correct. The TKL kit covers both TKL and popular 60% layouts like Tsangan since there is so much overlap of keys. If you are looking for the R2 1.5u alpha key for TKLs, it has been replaced with REG in the Alphas. You can refer to the render on the Iron180 to see how it will look.

Hi all,

Just popping in here to add a detail I forgot: the 2u, 2.25u, and 2.75u spacebars will be using SP's new convex molds.

As for the first week sales, the graph above represents 3/6 vendors with one of them being outdated. It's a decent start but we could definitely use the community's help to make this set a reality! Please consider SA 8010 :)

Great news.

They already had a convex 3u. And 1.25u, but I think Diatec (Filco) owns that mold.

Made some good progress this week towards MOQ. The above graph represents basically 2 vendors, so those numbers are probably a bit higher. Thank you to everyone who has supported the set so far!

I would say that's likely. Overall, this set is really cool - but also very different (lot's of non-standard keys, so touch-typists only), and the approximate delivery date by May 2022 is certainly also a deterrent. If this were 'in stock', I am sure it would fly off the shelves. So, my guess is that extras bought by vendors will carry this over the finish line. /Johannes

Occasional GB thread updates are always nice, but some vendors have update pages:
    ApexKeyboards (https://www.apexkeyboards.com/pages/group-buy-status)
    Cannon Keys (https://cannonkeys.com/pages/group-buy-status)
    Deskhero (https://www.deskhero.ca/blogs/news/weekly-updates)
    Drop (https://drop.com/talk/63324/pre-order-status-update-thread?mode=guest_open)
    Mekibo (https://mekibo.com/pages/group-buy-status)
    Omnitype (https://omnitype.com/blogs/timelines)
    ProtoTypist (https://prototypist.net/pages/updates)
    SwitchKeys (https://www.switchkeys.com.au/pages/updates)

Prototypist currently says SA 8010's expected shipping is Q4 2022.
Back in May, ApexKeyboards estimated Q2 2022.

Based on the info I have, I'm comfortable saying Q3 at this point. But yeah, SP has had some major delays overall. This set is still in the process of color matching, which experienced a delay due to SP misplacing the Pantone chip I sent them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi all,

I'm pleased to announce that after 2 rounds of color matching, the custom blue color for this set has been approved! Please see the photo below, which was taken in indirect sunlight. While it's not an absolutely perfect match, it's a huge improvement over the first round. Given my previous experience with SA SAIL, I highly doubt they'll be able to improve it significantly to warrant any further delays.

Hopefully that means these wets will be in production soon, would love to get mine sooner rather than later. I'm moving within the next year and redirecting a ton of orders is gonna be a headache anyways so one less thing to worry about would be sweet. I saw somewhere that July was the predicted manufacturing end?

Hi all,

Unfortunately, I don't have any good news today. SP is targeting a July completion date, but I highly doubt they will be able to meet it. From what I can tell, most of their delays (which have been significant) have mainly come down to difficulty in obtaining materials (resin). I hope it won't come later than Q3 this year, but I'll keep you posted.

Honestly not surprised, but will be pleasantly amused if SP decides to prioritize this set over Laser. Pretty sure they are focused on fulfilling that since that is likely their biggest order in the next 3 months.

Thank you for running this, Fredington. And thank you for fullfilling the EU part and for the treat, Oblotzky!

I had hoped the blue was more tealish / petrol-coloured than blue like in the renders but it (the deskpad) is more blue like in the pictures Fredington posted:

It does look great with my setup though, so I am happy!

Edit: Are these deskmat images available somewhere to be used as wallpapers?

These arrived this week and the colours are fairly close to the renders.  Maybe slightly lighter but still very good.

M&C have said they're debating delaying shipping 8010 to customers, until fix kits for two caps are produced and sent out. Any details on which keys are affected, and what the issue is with them?

Am also curious when shipping is taking place, this is one of my last 2 sets I have from groupbuys.

UPDATE:

So I received my set shortly before Thanksgiving. I wasn't jazzed about how these two keys turned out:

Since this was my fault, I have payed out of pocket to have these keys remade. Unfortunately, the ETA is mid-January at the earliest. I'm sorry for the additional delay, but want to get the set 100% correct, as there may not be a rerun in a long time, if ever.

Just got my shipping notification from mechs&co!

As an aside, will there be extras for this from some vendors?  I lightly regret not picking up the ortho/40s, and hugely regret not picking up the deskmat.

This was a welcome surprise this week after hearing they wouldn’t be shipping. Bad lighting, good keycaps

I wonder if more extras might be released after the problem keys are fixed?

Tried to get some more color-accurate shots in better light. The mods are bluer than the renders, which I like - they're a good match with the original Decision Data 8010 terminal. I was worried they'd be greener.

I love SA caps.  Feels like typing on precious stones, instead of thin cheap bits of plastic.
