TMOv2 Round 2 - Launching June 21st!

Coral

Dark Gray

Eggplant

Translucent matte PC

Hi everyone!

It's finally time for TMOv2 Round 2, isn't it? It's just that - a Round 2. No new features, no new design. So people that already own R1 TMOv2s can also get some extras, ya dig?
Round 2 comes with a couple of new colours though! This round we'll be offering: Dark Gray, Eggplant, Coral for aluminium cases and stick with a translucent matte PC option as well!

We've added more PCB protection by adding a grounding pad as we heard some had issues with PCB shorting due to living in very specific environments (dry and statically charged). This, however, doesn't impact R1 & R2 compatibility so anyone needing an extra - you're more than welcome to join!

Group buy will be widely available as we'll be selling TMOv2s through these vendors:

Be sure to follow my Discord server as well - funderburker's house for more TMOv2 discussion, updates and just my next projects!
For vendor-specific updates, be sure to join their own Discord servers. Links can be found on their respective websites.

Features
  • 100% base kit compatible (*)
  • QMK compatible USB-C PCB, designed by Upas
  • Underglow RGB LEDs
  • Top mount construction
  • 7 degree typing angle
  • Brass weight
(*) - Most GMK and EPBT keyset base kits

Pricing, availability, GB launch times

P.S. Group buy will be limited with a pretty high "ceiling". It won't be a raffle but please check in with your chosen vendor to found out how they'll do it!

Layout & key mapping

TMOv2 is mostly 100% "base kit compatible" sub60% keyboard with regular stagger and correct profile keycaps on all 50 keys! Really, it just depends on what layout you go with and if you want to have correct keycap legends.
TMO is all about YOU making it your own. From keysets to artisans to keymapping. With QMK you're encouraged to make TMOv2 fit your typing style. Stock keymapping is only there to be a sane "default" and it's the one I've been using daily.

Included in the base kit
  • Keyboard case (Aluminium top & bottom OR Polycarbonate top & bottom)
  • Keyboard plate (Black Aluminium plate)
  • Weight (Sandblasted brass)
  • TMOv2 USB-C PCB, designed by Upas
  • Plate and case screws
  • 3M rubber bumpon feet
  • Cannonkeys keyboard carrying case

Add-ons

You'll have the option to order:
  • extra PCBs,
  • plates (Black aluminium, matte polycarbonate, black FR-4, sandblasted brass),
  • translucent matte PC bottoms

More renders

Disclaimers:
  • Renders are for illustrative purposes only and final colours may differ.
  • This product only includes the contents listed under the "Included in base kit" section. Keycaps, Switches, and Stabilizers are for demonstrative purposes only and are not included with this product.

Am grateful for everyone showing interest, their builds and those who message me wanting feedback on their board designs. It's motivating!

Thank you for helping:
  • Upas - for being the business person for my projects and guiding me through everything!
  • Oggi - for the beautiful renders! Link to his services!
  • Vegs & RealLaugh - for being the best bros, still!

Thanks, everyone for the nice messages, I'm happy y'all like the offered colourways as well! TMOv2 is a quirky board so I thought these colours would suit its quirkiness. :D

Wooo! But are the original colours not available?

No, we have to limit colours to 4 options so the mentioned ones - Coral, Eggplant, Dark Gray and matte PC, - are the ones you'll have to choose from this time. Which colour were you looking for?

here's to hoping this can be around $300 or less

Sorry but it won't be under $300, it'll be close to the previous pricing, just a tad higher. Manufacturing costs have gone up, component costs have gone up, even aluminium costs have gone up. We've done our best to keep pricing as close to the previous price tag of $325.

I’d personally love to see any of blue grey, navy blue, red, burgundy, black, white, or silver :) But that’s just me! I can’t wait for R3, this is such a cool board that I have wanted since the very first day that I found out about the hobby :)  Good luck with the GB, but you won’t need it, it’ll undoubtedly be another massive success =D

Beautiful colors! This time around I don't think I can pass this board up. Problem is, I like 2 colors. Is gb unlimited? And if so, would I be able to get two? If it's limited to one I'd still get one but I want time to pick a color LOL. But in all honesty, I appreciate you running this board again.

oh my god, I am so here for this. TMO is my literal favorite keyboard (I own a TMO50 and TMOv2, both purchased for ABSURD prices second hand), I'd love to get my hands on another, or at least the extras!!

hope to god this is an unlimited GB though, because I have a history of severe disappointments from Cannonkeys FCFS keyboard sales :<

Thank you very much for doing a round 2, hopefully I will be able to get one from mykeyboard. I saw a picture of TMO50v2 last year and have been on the lookout for an aftermarket board or anything with a similar layout.

Updated OP thread with a pricing table under "Pricing, availability, GB launch times". Currently still need some extra info from vendors but will be fully updated soon.

Also here's the same table for convenience (won't be updated in this post, only OP updates).

Yeah, sorry. If we could offer R1 AND R2 colours together we would but we needed to limit colour choices.

Open GB or limited # of units?

GB will be limited, availability is still WIP but it'll have a pretty high "ceiling". Definitely a few hundred units total, I think... Availability is determined by vendors so I am asking for numbers too!

Have my eye on a polycarb - little confused on the pricing though. Just to make sure I have this right :

If I wanted a full polycarb (from Cannonkeys) it'd be

- $350 for base kit
- plus $105 for polycarb bottom

right?

What bottom would come with the board if we only went half polycarb?

That's not my understanding. As posted, I think it meant if you bought a full aluminum case but wanted a PC bottom as an option, then it's an additonal $105. The full PC case itself is $350. Unless am misunderstanding your question.

What you're describing is what I would normally assume; but the chart doesn't make that distinction which is what's throwing me off I think. Re-reading the post again(and with more sleep ha) it does sound like I might have it wrong. Oh well, I'll find out tomorrow.

full polycarb is the base price, the additional polycarb bottom is for those who purchased aluminium and wanted a pc bottom.

It's hard to tell right now without knowing the final numbers but definitely not sooner than Q2 2022, probably. I really need to check in with Cannon Keys as I don't have a straight connection with the factory and he'll be more up-to-date with their schedules.

No, base kit boards are either FULL aluminium case or a FULL Polycarbonate case! :p I didn't know people would think PC option base kit would come as an incomplete board... :)

Polycarbonate bottom is for those who would like an aluminium top but a PC bottom. Offering Mix&Match by default would be a hard thing to track and offering 4 add-on bottoms (each alu colour + PC) would be also a pain in the butt.

Thank you for clarifying! Just wanted to make sure I had the details right before the rush to queue up. Reading it last night it wasn't clear in the description that the PC bottom was an add-on based on the pricing chart, reading the full description again this morning and again just now I see what I missed.

I blame a lack of sleep and pre-queue panic(missed out the first time around), my apologies for the weird question.
