Friendly suggestion: the OP is really long and hard to scroll through. It would be much easier to browse if you gave your images smaller, fixed heights. For example:

I didn't mean generic in a bad way. I'm sure the quality is fine. I just meant that it's not a standard USB connector.

I like removable cables on my keyboards and if the two mating connectors were USB then this would essentially be an easy way to convert a Filco into removable cable board.
I dont think a sturdy mini b female connector is available is the problem but ill let mistakemistake weigh in on this

What profosist said about the female mini b connector is correct. I've seen a DIY with hot glue which seems like it works, but personally I wouldn't really want hot glue on the inside of the keyboard casing. Even though it's on the inside, I feel like it loses its 'clean' factor. That's just me though.

I'll try and think of a solution for what you're looking for xavierblak.

Yep! Only issue will be fitting it into the case. 2 piece connectors are just a little bit too pricey at the moment

make a grommet out of 2 orings and some heat shrink.

I think we might be thinking of two different things here. I'm not talking about the filco mods where they add a usb connector flush to the back of the case.

I'm interested in a cable similar to this one.

But instead of the connector used in the photo it would be a usb connector. This would give the filco a short female mini b connector tail.

can you get the actual part that plug into a Filco i would be up for 3 2 piece cables probably if you could make it so I can just unplug the Filco cable and plug your 2 piece in.

Sorry, "custom cables" was a bit vague. Would you do other cables that are not the USB cables, such as a headphone cable etc. I think that 3/8ths is to big for me to sleeve the tiny headphone cable that I have. The stainless steel/dark stainless steel/red sleeves looked the most interesting to me, but like I said... 3/8ths seems too large.

Received my cable and it looks amazing! one thing that I would say is slightly dissappointing is that the orange isnt really an orange, its more of a pale orange/peach color. Perhaps I should've gone with the Yellow. But the Hip Hop color sure stands out and I'm loving it! Will probably order another, more subtle one for work someday in the future.

Mine just got delivered today. In short I got the biggest grin on my face. Nothing better than getting a cable that is better made than most stuff coming out of China these days. The Stainless glistens in the sunlight like a Jewel, all I want to do is place it on the desk still curled up and ogle at it's perfection.

that was actually for a friend and it would have to be pretty heavily modified for my 7bit layout and i think id like to stick with white, if it was acrylic maybe the middle layer could be yellow...
